Yeah I started when LOB came out...
A friend of mine and I were headed to a convention some years ago where we thought to ourselves: "Wouldn't it be awesome if a card game based off of Yu-Gi-Oh! existed?"
Lo and behold, we reach our destination, and come across a large blue box covered in plastic wrap, hidden under a large blanket. The large blue box held the three syllables that we were just discussing.
The man running the table said that the game was to be released soon, but he wasn't sure if he should bring it to the place in order to drive sales and and encourage people to buy more once the structures and the actual set was made public. So we asked him nicely, and he cracked open the box. My friend and I proceeded to buy 5 or 6 packs each. We then pooled them all together, and attempted to play each other under the rules we knew from Duelist Kingdom.
We're our faces red when the official rules were released...

Graagh... um... lemme think... back when Magician's Force had come out, 'cause I remember the first boosters I bought had Magical Marionette. Probably more like when IOC started to come out, but my first deck was the original Yugi and my sister grabbed the revised Yugi from a drug store.
...Man, did I kick myself about that for a while afterwards. At least I got some good old cards she didn't...

I've been playing since it came out pretty much.
My mom took me and my little brother to the flea market, and after walking around the place for an hour or two we came across a card booth. They had Yugi and Kaiba decks on sale so I bought a Yugi deck. On the way home my little brother and I pretended to duel each other.
Then a few weeks later after I bought a few booster packs, I got my best friend into it and I gave him his first card, Weather Report. Some time later he came back with the Pegasus deck and ever since we've both been rivals in a sense.

I feel stupid bc all my friends play and I never got into it. But like 3 months ago I finally started dueling with them to kill time and now I'm addicted, lol.

I've been playing for years, my friend introduced to the game back in 10th grade, and he told me that he would give me some of his cards if I helped him get hooked up with this girl at a school dance. I was successful and he gave me like 15 cards and that's how I got started.

Wow, let's see...I was first aware of the game when I saw these two kids playing it on the side of the street of a culd e sac. The first cards I had were from Dark Duel Stories, when I was in the sixth grade. I then bought a starter deck, Yugi, and began to get really into the game. Of course allot of my cards kept getting stolen, but I still continued to collect them. It was allot easier to get into than Pokemon.
