How good are the members here, on average?
I used to think I was, but after a series of defeats, it feels as if I'm a noob again.
Does anyone have any tips for how to train effectively?
By that I mean don't just tell me to practice a lot, because I already do.
There's clearly something wrong with how I'm practicing.

Anata wa watashi ga zutto mae ni "sayounara" to yutta hito wo omoidasaseru. Well, posting your deck could be a start. We wouldn't know where to begin unless we knew what you were playing and how you were playing it.
Also, we have a wide range here. Most of the active members are pretty good, but I'll admit myself to be nigh-horrible at coming up with original ideas that actually work competitively.
You remind me of someone I said goodbye to a long time ago.

As good as good gets, there are always variants to how you play. Such variants will be who your opponents are, what environment you play in, what decks you play against, how each and every person you face makes their play-by-play routine, and so on and so forth.
A start would be to review your deck, side deck, and Extra deck, and see if there are cards that are lacking, and at the same time take note of cards you do not possess that can improve on this flaw.
Secondly, you should review what your current meta is. What decks you play against, and how professional of an environment.
Start from there, and then on out it all comes through experience.
