This is a pretty dark and gothic poem, but I decided mainly to try my hand at rhyming. I wrote it mostly for the imagery, like a painting in words. Hopefully, it's enjoyable XD

The devil's missionary cries its dreadful warning
To be swallowed by the jaws of savage night
Its heeding blasphemy trumpets silently among the shadows
Sending a trembling wave of ebony to crush the faintest light

The master of the infernal flame, that burns its blackest
In the scorched hearts of the malevolent cursed dead,
Crawls from the lair of incessantly writhing agony
To consume the preachings of the worms on carnage fed

The falsely quiet slumber of the living has begun
Yet something sinister quivers at the mouth of Hell
A lonely whisper lingers on the heavy sigh of night
And the presence of the ominous wicked tolls the foreboding midnight bell

Nostalgia branches to the sounds of nocturnal prayers
At the foot of the iron cross that marks the sinner's grave
The abysmal anguish, feast of petrified transgression
Reaches with mourning wails to summon its evil slave.
