Dunno if I was the only one stupid enough to do so but last year I got the Citadel Realm of Battle Gameboard©TM and I've finally decided to flock two tiles after much procrastination.

Here's one with a hillock and what used to be two hidious skull pits, that I decided to just paint brown, drybrush ochre and then bury beneath the flock that came with the special scenery kit©TM, yes I am that hopeless. I decided to plunk the Centaur there as well for show and scale, sorry it's about the only vehicle I have properly painted at the moment.

As always, you can click the images for larger versions.

Here's another shot of the same board, a bit up close but with Barry who is enjoying himself outside in the grass. Yes that Centaur is a tiny armoured tractor.

This one is WIP as of right now, I've just dumped and spread all flock over it and I'll remove all excess flock tomorrow, give it a few extra taps and then seal it. Yes it does look like a poorly manufactured wool carpet, it should look better tomorrow.

Right now I was able to flock two tiles, I could've done them all if it wasn't for the fact that GW©TM flock is so clumpy and hard to scatter properly.

I'm also a fool who bought one too before it was released... <_<;;;

And I love it~ Easy to store, bring and hide away!

I need to get some grass for mine as well... hopefully before next weekend.

Yeah, they are easy, I suck at making my own stuff so this is the ideal solution for me.

How do you plan on storing yours? I'm hoping to scrounge up a lot of bubble wrap plastic so the flock won't be scraped off every time.

You sure like to spam up on the threads around here. sweatdrop

Maybe you should get a single thread for your stuff because at this rate you'll fill up the forum something fierce.

I have thin plastic bubbly stuff (hard to explain, but it's not bubblewrap) at my work which I'll put between the boards.

Here's the first tile again with some normal minis, pardon their states of unpaintedness for the most part:

And here's the second tile all tapped and sealed:

At this rate I should be able to do a tile per day, hoping that I don't run out of scorched grass before the end. sad

And here's number three, pardon the poor lighting and angle, both the sun and other factors were conspiring against me yet again. In reality it isn't as shiny as the picture show it to be.

I'm going to have to get me a tub of extra grass first before I can finish up the other three. sweatdrop

How hard is the flocking, and how much do you need to do a full tile at one time?
PostPosted: Sat May 02, 2009 12:48 am

The flock I got is for the most part clumpy so while at first I tried scattering it by hand, which didn't quite work, I instead put the contents of the bag into several cups, scattered those over the tile and then carefully ran my hand across it to properly scatter it all over. After that I grabbed an empty DVD case and used it to carefully push down on the flock, making sure it stays there. Leave it to dry overnight, at dawn put it on one end, give it a few kicks and then seal it.

As for the flock used per tile, quite a bit goes on, but a lot of it goes off again the next day when you tap it. I managed to flock three tiles with the stuff provided, but I see that I'll be needing an extra tub of scorched grass to finish up the rest.

Just because they can hold a really fat person does not mean that you can walk over them, especially not now that they are flocked.
