Mkay, so our last contest ideas didn't work out so well. That's ok. People are busy, we all have lives. So this isn't a contest.
For February, everyone's goal is three parted.
One, post a food or even a few, that you know you eat too much of, eat too often, and is bad for your weight loss goals.
Two, post a food can replace that food that you eat too much of, or too often.
Three: at the end of the week each month, post what you did to substitute food two (or other healthy choices) rather than food one.
Myself!
Step one: I eat too much white rice when I eat it. When chips are around I go crazy. Like... potato chips. Seriously!
Step two: I will only eat wild rice and brown rice. I will only get smaller bags of chips (rice chips come in smaller bags) and kettle corn. I will also get a popcorn maker to make popcorn at home.
Step three: I'm going to edit this post with my results. Week one: N/A Week two (Feb 14 ): I started eating salad with many meals that I've had. I'm trying to fill up with the salad and still have whatever I'm having. Week two (Feb 21 ): Week two (Feb 28 ):

I'm actually a pretty healthy eater. But when I drink, that's another story.
I'm not gonna say that I wont drink, because I will. I've tried that before and I ended up cracking before the end of the week.
So my goal is to switch out the bad snacks for healthy snacks, and to be moderate on my alcohol intake.

I really like this idea!
I'm really bad about carbs and snacking. Not really any specific bad food, but the timing and quantity. If I had to pick a "bad food" though, it'd be the mashed potatoes my boyfriend's family makes when they cook dinner at 9:00PM. gonk
To substitute it I think I'll try to avoid eating that late, and if I have to only eat protein at that time instead of fluffy yummy carbs.
I'll also try to stick to my 7PM rule more strictly. smile

I actually found the January contest quite inspiring! biggrin I just don't have a camera.
My vice is eating junk or bread after eight, and mindlessly munching at friends' house, or spending money on food when we go out and I'm not particularly hungry. "If your stomach feels weak my work here is DONE."

My Unhealthy Binge Food: I eat very healthy foods -- I just eat too much of them.
Healthy Substitute: Instead of going for a snack all the time, I've found a non-food hobby: soap making!
This Week's Substitution (since I probably won't be online tomorrow for an end-of-week checkin): Yesterday I felt like going through my cabinets for dried fruits and eating lots of them. Dried fruits are very healthy, but also calorie-rich. Instead, I took the bus down to the hardware store and picked up some lye, a stainless steel pot with a lid, and some molds. Since it was a long bus ride, I spent the day doing that, from just after breakfast till just after I should've had lunch. Snacking time was GONE, baby!
Next Week's Goal: I will attempt my first batch of soap making.

I'm with Soi... I have a problem with drinking, and craving salty fatty snacks when I'm drunk.
I've tried saying that I'll only drink on the weekends, or special occasions, but making something forbidden only makes it more craveable. Also, my boyfriend drinks almost every night, and its hard not to join him...
So, instead of trying to beat myself down, I'm going to aim to drink a sugar-free cream soda between every alcoholic beverage. Hopefully, my brain won't notice I've switched up on it, and the carbonation will prolong the desired buzz.
That way, I'll be drinking half as much, but I'll always have a "drink" in my hand, and I'll be able to more accurately keep a handle on how tipsy I actually am.
Also, I'm phasing out the tempting snacks I go for when I'm drunk. I'm not bringing any more lime-seasoned tortilla chips, giant boxes of rainbow Goldfish, or spicy Cheetos into this house. I love grabbing handfuls of pretzels or Goldfish whenever I go upstairs, so if I stumble upstairs and there are no pretzels or Goldfish, I'll get discouraged and forget I even wanted them. biggrin

The problem with drinking is two fold, one is the inebriation, the other is that it's liquid calories.
Can you not alternate with water?

I'm sick!
AGAIN!
WTF is this. I've been ill every two weeks, and gained back two or three pounds. Argh. I did a small batch of stretches, and sit-up like things for my core and it made me feel better for the moment. I guess when I'm diseased strength training is the way to go, haha.
Oh, and I'm playing DDR twice a day, Soi. 3nodding When I'm not sick. It's helped me lose about eight pounds so far! "If your stomach feels weak my work here is DONE."

Lady Schist The problem with drinking is two fold, one is the inebriation, the other is that it's liquid calories. Can you not alternate with water? ... I really wish it was that easy. sweatdrop There's the rational part of me that says, "Hey, just don't drink", and then there's the addict part of me. If you've never been there, I guess you can't understand how that part gets under your skin.
... it sounds good in theory, but its difficult to counter such a pervasive and insidious addiction with a bottle of water, heh. I was doing my best to come up with a positive gameplan. ... I'm working on my problems. Really, I am.
I shouldn't have even posted about my "other" problems here. This is a weight-loss guild, not AA. Sorry about that. It won't happen again.
