So I come from a home of a large family. My mom weighs around 250ish and so does my dad.

I recently moved back in with them and gained 30lbs. I've been working out almost everyday and so far all I've done is maintained. I go back through my diary and look for a cause, and it's dinner. The one time I eat with my parents and the meals could easily push 1,000 calories each.

I cringe at the thought of what I'd weigh right now if I hadn't been working so hard at trying to loose weight.

So since that's the one killer of my weight loss, I decided to no longer eat the same dinner with them. My mom took it extremely offensive and practically screamed me out of the house.

I cried all the way to the grocery store. I've been working so hard at trying to be healthy. She's one of the main people in my life who say derogatory remarks about the way I look. Like, "god you look pregnant" or "you really shouldn't eat" or other spiteful hurtful things. Yet when I try to better myself or get thin she yells at me saying I'm a horrible person and that apparently what ever she does isn't good enough for me and then I'm a spoiled brat, or my favorite, "UNGRATEFUL LITTLE COW!"

But despite this, I still went to the grocery store and for the whole month of January I'm going to eat nothing but budget gourmet for dinner and see what happens.

I know this is vindictive but I'd love to shove it in her face if at the end of January I've lost 10 pounds. My mom is one of those melodramatic people who like to take out their problems on other people.

Has this happened to anyone else? Or does anyone have anything that really hinders them in losing weight?

Awww... that must be tough... ._. Did you explain to them why you don't really want to eat their dinner anymore? If you did...and they still don't understand, I don't really know what else you can do.

This is a really far fetched idea, but I can imagine it working: How much work do you do around the house? I know that in my case, I don't really do much at all o___o oops! >__>;; But ever since I started my dieting, I've gotten more energy, and I clean a lot more. Maybe if you started doing a bunch of stuff around the house, like dishes every night, or vacuuming or something, they would see that it's really doing good for you? I know that when I started helping out more around the house, people got a LOT nicer to me. And if they ask why you've suddenly started helping out, tell them that you have a lot more energy recently, probably because you've been eating healthier.

Like I said, far fetched, but... I dunno, I think it may help? >.o That is, if you don't do stuff around the house already, like I didn't just recently.

And with the meals, if they really won't compromise, maybe eat just a SMALL bit of what they cook? That's what I have to do, because my boyfriend's dad gets really angry if people don't eat his food. So... I just eat really, really small portions.

For those gourmet dinners, are they kinda like lean cuisines? I don't actually eat the on brand lean cuisines, they're like, Michelano's or something? xD Heck if I know. But they're really filling, and like $1.50, and usually only about 300 calories. If you have some extra veggies with them, omg... so filling, so few calories.

lol I clean the house already twice a weak for money.

The budget gourmet is like the cheaper version of the michelina's. They're 85 cents! and anywhere from 250 to 300 calories each. Very yummy.

I made a deal to try doing the b.g. for a month and if I lose 10 lbs I'm gonna keep doing it and my mom's gonna work on trying healthier recipes.

I'm lucky because my enablers are the polite naysayers "Oh you don't need to lose weight!" they say as they shovel food onto my plate. My biggest pet peeve are the people who feel the need to lecture me on how to lose weight.

One guy actually went so far as to tell me that I'm fat (which I'm not fat) because of the unhealthy American lifestyle. (Which the lifestyle is unhealthy but..) He was saying it all stemmed from my parents shoving fast food down my throat when I was a kid.

I wanted to slap him and tell him he didn't know anything about how I grew up. I grew up a few hours away from even the closest grocery store and every summer the majority of what I would eat came from our garden. Oh well >_> I've thought about starting a weight loss gripe journal.

Just don't let what she says get to you and keep on your dieting. You'll show her in the end and feel better about yourself.

I think people are losing sight of the real reason I made this thread.

Does anyone have anything that hinders them in losing weight?
