Discussion and questions on veg*n fare while travelling.

What countries/areas are accomodating?

Where can I get veg*n food in ______?

Is that miso soup really as vegetarian as they told you? (no -_- liers)

How do you deal with situations where there is no veg*n option?

Staying in other people's houses - how do you approach this?

my experiences; (looking for vegetarian, not vegan sorry)

Australia = easy
NZ = easy
England = easy but not so tasty xD
sorry sorry sorry.... I think the non-english veg*n food would be much better... lol

Hong Kong = well, had trouble reading the menu so uber hard....but from what I gathered it'd be hard to find anything that was completely meat-free (the broth of my noodles was certainly containing meat even if I managed to keep the rest vego). Compromise needed unless you're HK and cantonese savvy.
Bali = pretty easy
india = made for vegos. even vegan food is 10x better.

what's berlin like???? i have no german D=

Well.
Mexico's pretty vegetarian friendly.
If you're vegan you're screwed though.

I'm usually vegan, but when I went down to Mexico to stay with a host family for a while I had to play it safe and go be vegetarian.
Big mistake.
My body couldn't take the loss of fiber and the surge of fat from all that milk D: .

And the worst thing, there was no such thing as low fat milk in the place I was staying, just full fat.

well, no vegetarian options- would mean that i would go as vegetarian as possible.... like, everything on the menu has meat. i'd probably get a salad. or if things were cooked with animal products or whatever...

friendliest country? i'd have to say either countries surrounding the pacific ocean- or countries that have HUGE touristy cities- new york, los angeles for example. they have very vegetarian and vegan friendly restaurants, not to mention options on menus at "regular" restaurants. i could not imagine other cities in the world NOT being like this, also.
