Here, what you critics said would never happen.
We dedicate this album to anybody people said couldn't make it.
To the fans that held us down 'til everybody came around.
Welcome, it's here!
I was listening to this song one day when I was walking home from school. I just had a discussion with my future English teacher about how much work Accelerated English was. She wants me to start early because I'm going to be missing out on the things that are going to lead up to our second semester poetry project.
I should explain. My regular English class is too boring for me, so this extremely kind woman who happens to be the teacher for accelerated sophomore English and the adviser for my Writer's Club told me I could switch levels for second semester.
Anyway, I was walking home from school after talking to her, and I got this wonderful feeling. This feeling that even though I'm struggling in school now, I'm going to overcome it, and I'm going to go to college. This feeling that even though my career choice isn't the easiest road to travel down, I'm going to make something of myself one day.
I think that what Fall Out Boy meant when they wrote this song was that they knew they had finally made something of themselves in an industry where it's extremely difficult to climb to the top, and they were giving us fans a nod because they couldn't have done it without us. I can only imagine all the work they had to do to get to that point, and it makes me respect them even more as artists.
As an aspiring author, it gives me this sense that with a lot of hard work and effort, I can also accomplish that long, difficult ascent. This confidence and the fact that I know there are people cheering for me motivates me to become the wonderful writer I know I can be.
I think that's what Fall Out Boy meant when they wrote this song, and I can't believe it took me a whole year to truly understand.
I felt that I should share my thoughts with you guys, and I'd love to discuss it with you.
