My particular take on pornogrophy and masturbation and the like involving that verse, about looking at a woman in lust comitting adultry with her in heart... is that it is only in the heart, if, given the opportunity in real life, you would act on your desires.
It is still good to cleanse yourself through repetance and prayer with the help of the holy trinity, be cathartic and then let it go from your mind.
If it has reached the point, where it is an addiction, where your control over the situation is so much less...than on the one hand, you may wish to become free from the bondage, on the other, you, at least in accordance with the Catholic perspective of Mortality of sin, be less acountable for your actions if you have become habit in it, it also would depend on if you know that a thing is a sin, and if you are willingly defying G-d in doing the thing.
Pray that all be done in accordance with his will. And work through your own salvation in fear and trembling, yet be not afraid, for he is with ye, and has gone before.

All sin and all fall short of the glory of God.
And I personally, believe that everyone lusts. I know I do. But it is not something I am proud of, but it is something I struggle with.
I have had two boyfriends since becoming a Christian, and they both have struggled with lust, majorly. And one of them was even addicted to pornography.
I personally think the best way to fight the addiction to pornography, is stop letting yourself get into situations where you can lust. When I broke up with my last boyfriend, I started struggling huge with lust. And the internet was oh so tempting..
So that is why you didn't see me on here for a while. "everything in moderation"
I don't trust myself. With a sinful nature, who can? stressed
But the best way, I have found in staying away from a road I don't want to go down, is to not let myself get into those situations where I'll be most tempted. And for me, not being home, staying offline for a while, and being in the Word is what helped me until I could trust myself again. And even now... I will not be on very much.
Don't know how much of a help that is.. but yeah.

Quote: Quote: Quote: "But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart." The Game Of Life - Everyone's A WSinner!Quote: Porn involves lusting after the body of a complete stranger (unless, of course you happen to have naughty pictures of your spouse which is an entirely different kettle of fish, if you ask me). And according to the words of Jesus, you may as well have actually slept with the person in that image.
Well, if that's the case, no one can win because everyone lusts after the body of their future spouse. That's still adultery, even if you intend to marry that person.
If you tie what Jesus says here with what he has said about how what comes out of the mouth is evil because it comes from the heart, you're pretty much on the right track when it comes to what it means to sin, whether it's lust or cursing one's neighbour. Well when the bible talks about adultery it does not just talk about lust for another person, but putting your pleasures before god is also counted adultery. "For god is a jealous god" That's stretching it a bit. God only refers himself as jealous with regard to other gods.

But if you are putting pornography before God, you are essentially making porn your god.

While I think it's true that all ten commandments can be summarised into the categories represented by Jesus' commandments, in doing so, it's important not to confuse your act.
It's adultery. It's not having other gods. While stealing is committing a sin against your brother as murder is, they are different acts. It's important to make the distinction.

Samsoonie Priestley Fushigi na Butterfly Well, it's certainly that. Still not seeing how that contradicts what I said though. confused The second commandment commands against making things for the sole purpose of being worshipped as God should be - idolatry. Pornography isn't necessarily made for this purpose. Having no other gods before God is the first commandment. Again, seperate commandments. But all the commandments are linked with one another don't you think? We as Christians must remember to keep the cross at the center of our hearts. So when someone struggles with stealing it's because greed is at the center of that person's heart and I think it's the same thing with lust. It depends. Coveting can lead to stealing, for example, or lusting could lead to idolatry in this case, but they're still seperate commandments.
To recap, my original point was that it's a stretch say that worshipping other gods other than God is adultery by the tenuous link of God being jealous.
