Well, since I have an army (Most of it is only half painted) I guess I should make one of these threads to show it off. The quality won't be fantastic because I've never painted anything in my life before, not on a canvas or clay pot.

So, without further delay, here we go.

Army: Daemonhunters/Grey Knights
Point Value: 1,500 pts

HQ Choices

itsshowtime Brother-Captain Stern [ Currently trying to add more realism to skin ]
itsshowtime Inquisitor Lord Coteaz [ Same issue as Stern ]

Elites

itsshowtime Terminator Captain [x]
itsshowtime Note: This was my first real "complete" model. The light from my halogen lamp is a bit dark and washes out some of the detail. Obvious trouble spots are the staff of the halberd ( I don't know if I want it to be Bestial Brown or Chaos Black ) and the cloth. I used Regal Blue on this one's eyes, painting over Ice Blue which I thought was too light. Coteaz can be seen in the background.

itsshowtime Grey Knight Terminator [x]
itsshowtime Note: Painted in tandem with the Terminator Captain. A bit edgy with some over bleed, especially around the rune lettering. Halberd in need of a light coat of Blue Ink or Ice Blue paint to give it the psychic-charged nemesis force feel. A lot of detail, specifically small black parts, are blatantly obvious that are harder to pick up while looking with the naked eye.

Troop

itsshowtime Grey Knight Justicar [x]
itsshowtime Note: An attempt to use Blue Ink wash as recommended by Games Workshops. Oh God....

Troop

itsshowtime Grey Knight Land Raider Crusader
itsshowtime Note: Under Construction

itsshowtime Inquisition Chimera
itsshowtime Note: Under Construction

the 1st 2 are the exact same photo... also, the justicar's armour is far to bright... they look better in boltgun metal armour, rather than mithril silver.

The captain's pretty good except for a couple spots that you can fix, like the chain on the cloth. I advise you pick up some black ink, it works wonders when you're painting with a lot of metals. 3nodding

I personally hate matalic colors i think they ruin the model make it too bright, my Grey Knights are done in a gray not a silver and they look more grungy rather than too bright

I don't believe metallics can be used on their own very often. Usually I end up with one sort of ink or another over them as a modifier.

for my knights i only used bolt gun for touches on the knights other wise i used Codex Grey and fortress Grey for the highlights, in my Vampire counts army I'm not using any metallics, just using grays for the metal and Golden yellows for the gold.
