Write down six words.. for example...
1. Down 2. Up 3. Forward 4. Backword 5. Left 6. Right
Now, You can have 6 parts.. it can go chorus/verse/chorus/verse etc.. or it can go any other way, But each phrase has to have one of the words... and all words need to be used at least once. For example:
Everything is going a different way Today is an UP for me Go the same if you may But away they go in glee
Everything is going a different way When I looked DOWN at the flowers They didn't say hello today They've been sitting there for hours
Everything is going a different way Looking FORWARDS when I walk My thoughts going astray Rubbing the board clear of chalk
Everything is going a different way Thinking BACKWARDS while I walk Something my voice might betray Lucky I don't do it while I talk
Everything is going a different way I looked LEFT as you looked at me Piercing were your eyes grey Something interesting on my knee
Everything is going a different way You looked RIGHT at me The same time I looked away What my thoughts could be if you could only stay
its a fun excersise and one i make my students do regularly if they want to write songs you should try it smile

Put the pen down and live life for a little bit then write when you are once again, inspired. During this time if i have nothing to do and wanna play music i practice the repetitive stuff.

Don't bother too much with rhymes until the chorus. Just write down your feelings in reasonable lengths. Then work on the chorus last, because the chorus is like the conclusion of an essay.
