Look into my eyes...And Remember...You made me fall in love with you...

I know that I am pagan...But sometimes its hard cause my mother doesn't accept that part of me. But moving on.

I want to try different pathways to see which one fits me best. Is this the right thing to do?

Also, can someone help me with the different pathways? I believe A Wiccan Pagan is a pathway, correct? Are there any others I could try?

The appropriateness of exploring different paths is dependent on the path. There are a number of paths that are closed and semi-closed traditions.

Wica for example is an initiatory tradition- it's closed to those who have not been initiated.

Asatru and Hellenic polytheism are open traditions.

The Celts are a closed tradition, as are the Roma.

Perhaps you could explain what about paganism suits you?

Instead of trying different pathways to see what fits you first off. Do research and narrow the field until you have one or two you want to try and experience.

Firstly, be sure of what your beliefs are. Are you a polytheist? etc.
In addition to this, take a look at various mythologies from different pantheons, look at history; hell...look at all reputable information you can get you hands on!

Having this information will act as a springboard to start you off on your path. Don't just go in blindly.

P.s- Wicca is a pagan path, but you have to be over 18 and initiated into a lineaged wiccan coven.

my $0.02

I didn't really search for a path,
it's more like I stumbled across it when I was lost.

With that said,
my opinion is:

don't try too hard;
find and practice something that helps you
connect with This Moment -
for me that is listening to and playing music, and dancing;
read and cross-reference,
digest and sleep on what you've read;
if reading about or seeing depictions of, or whatever,
a particular divine figure "pulls" at you in some way,
then let that name, image, whatever,
sit lightly in your mind,
and maybe something will emerge.

Yeah, I'll kind of echo what's been said before. Perhaps if you tell us about your beliefs, we might be able to say what it sounds like, and point you in a direction that may be helpful.

My advice is always to not let others' traditions limit you. I think your spiritual journey is a personal one, and personal discovery is very important in that. I don't have an established path, I'm forging my own.

Maybe that makes me fluffy. I don't think so though. I think there is some truth in many religions, but I don't know if any one religion has all the answers.

Just keep looking, research, meditate, and talk to others like what we're doing here, and smile. Smiling always makes you feel better. razz
