A full-scale eruption of the Yellowstone caldera could result in millions of deaths locally and catastrophic climatic effects globally.
Caldera erupted two years ago, yet not as "catastrophic" as everyone had expected. It was as if something had held it back, harnessed it's energy from destructing half of America, Canada, and other countries. People said it was God himself, holding onto the power to save the world.
But those of the Alliance knows better. The Alliance is a group of people who had been practicing magic from the lore passed down from their traditional gypsy grandparents and viking uncles. They were looked down upon by society for years, ridiculed by scientists and critiqued by moderen day folk.
Right before Caldera, their followers and themselves took a trip to Yellowstone Parks and used all their powers, which had become diluted over the centuries into preventing Caldera from destroying too much.
And it didn't. The Alliance followers died in the heat, but those of the Alliance absorbed as much power as capable, and let the rest of the power flow to certain members of the human species. This power wandered, from person to person until it found the right person to rest in, and cultivated, taking two years to mature and become tangible.
Those two years are up, and people are waking up with powers they never knew possible.
But with these powers from Caldera came powerfull monsters that slunk into the shadows and slowly gained power from preying on small children and beasts in nearby feilds. Some monsters took on human form, being shape shifters of wise kinds. But not all monsters were evil, some were good and wanted to preserve mankind from the monsters with equal powers to theirs, seeing as the new magic humans would be weak still, and even after two years. They would be noticible to the evils, but not quite capable of such power to defeat them unless in numbers.
The last thing to emerge from Caldera was a very magical source in the form of a white orb that escaped from the evil clutches and went in search for a place to rest, and be left alone.
In danger are the human souls that have magic within them, the good creatures (or monsters), and the magic orb that both sides want to get their hand on, and the temptation to find is over whelming.

Running his hands over his weary face, Dr. Kyle took a deep breath. In front of him were piles of research and data, compiled onto one table, hoping to be the componets of one answer. Around his bare left arm wound a tribal tattoo, notfiying his status as a gypsy child with pure blood and magic motives. Dr. Kyle had been one in the Alliance before they had split apart after the Caldera incident. After observing his previous friends, he did not know how power could get to two person so much.
"Kyle." Spoke a doting voice, accompanied with a slender hand sliding across his shoulder blades. It was a slim young woman with pale features and a beautiful complexion. She was perhaps the most gorgeous thing he had ever set his eyes from, even though he had been harboring her for two full years, aiding her as she had done for him after Caldera. "You have to take a rest. You won't answer either questions by pushing yourself so hard." She whispered, tracing her other hand across the scattered papers.
Kyle did not respond, just dully staring down onto the papers. The woman stood up, walking over to the coffee pot and pouring the steaming hot liquid into a glass cup. This did not cause her any physcial pain or burning, she held onto the cup, unflinching with her back turned to Kyle. He looked up, studying the teal, turquoise, and blue shades of large scales that lined down her spine that showed easily through her lace shirt. He hadn't ever seen her in her true form of the shapeshifter, and never quite wanted too due to the fact he may never be able to look at her the same way. She turned around just in time to catch him watching her. A smile spread across her thin lips.
"Just close your eyes for a while, you will feel better." She said softly, approaching him. Laying the glass down onto one of the papers without a second glass left a satifying thump on the papers that made Kyle wince. She was as about as determined as him, but she had limited respect for technology and science which he had immersed himself in. He closed his eyes as she came closer and lay a cool hand onto his forehead. Kyle couldn't tell, but she was using her powers to rejuvanate him, a very taxing procedure which took skill and experince. He opened his eyes once again, empowered. The woman grimanced, walking to the sliding glass doors and looking out into the sky. He didn't know it, but it taxed him as well. She had to preserve her powers as much as he had to, for protection. But recently, she had been cheating by withdrawing powers from Kyle in stealthy manors.
She regretted her actions, but they were neccesary. They needed to locate the orb, and he needed to know the phenomeon by which Yellowstone was created by. He had not come to terms with it, and she couldn't plainly tell him.
"So how far have you gotton?" She asked, crossing her skeletal arms across her ribs.
"Far enough to reach somewhere. But I haven't gotton anywhere." He paused, and hesitated as if wanting to say something else. Kyle stood up and walked over to her position by the door. "Fay." He paused, once again hesiating. She looked up at him with a multicolored shade of blue and green eyes which matched her thick scales. "What't the point of this search? What is the true point, when all we have is here, right now? What I mean to tell you, Fay is that. . . That. . . I. . ."
He was interupted by the front door adjacent to them crashing down, creating shards of splintered wood flying all places. Fay turned to Kyle, her eyes now wide in fear. "Kyle, run!" She demanded, turning to the intruders dressed in dark cloths. There were three of them, monsters that had crawled fromthe depths of Cauldera. "Run!" She screeched at the imobile Kyle. He was important. He had to escape if not her. He did not run as the dark clothed people came and overpowered the powerfull Fay who herself had emerged from the same place. He had time to escape, but did not take it, trying to defend her. But in a battle in thre against one, the winners were obvious. In a split second, Kyle saw no more.
"We got one of them, one of them that had betrayed our people." The evil shapeshifter spoke into a technological device colled a cellular phone loudly. He hadn't quite got the hang of these devices, being stuck for so long. "And the other, one of the Alliance members, who has come closer to any of us on where the orb was?" The voice on the other end of the phone spoke, in a gruff tone. "Caught. Vitals are low though. We think." The shifter said uncertainly. The gruff tone made a groaning noise of doubt. "Just bring him, we'll see what we can do." He said. "Yes sir." The shifter replied, switching off the phone, satified. He had completed his mission. "Pack up the papers and any gear." He ordered to his croonies. "We'll be leaving."
Type of monsters that came from Caldera:
1) Shape Shifters:
Species that can shift their shapes (but not with ease, it takes pain and time for a shift to complete)
2)Daemons:
Uguly rotted creatures with small wings and large claws.
3)Forboden Angels:
Winged creatures with ragged physical features and hollowed out eyes. Rotting smell accompanies them.
4)Spirits:
Small creatures with pixie apperances about the size of a thumb. Their faces resemble biting orifaces mainly, and cannot see or hear, they can sense and smell.
5) Ghouls:
Pale, wormlike, creatures with two legs and two arms. slimy with red eyes.
6) Ghosts:
Transparent creatures that resemble humans and walk through walls. Limited magic powers.
As a human you will have limited powers to begin with, but they will grow, over time, and as you learn.
