That is fair.
If I lost out on a job to a 14 year old I'd be so pissed off.
14 year olds don't have as much life experience.
or responsibility

Or maturity.

Or work experience.

Im not getting mad, because you 4 people do not know me, or what ive been through....because i am not your typical 14 year old.... For i HAVE all of those. [exept 'work' experiance....]
Unless you count my first 'Pre-job' A mistake.....
It was supposed to be my 'dream job' and it turned into a nightmare...
Ill save you the details, but i was sexually molested....
So please DO NOT talk down to someone you do not know....

But this is the thing, we're not judging you as a person, we're judging you as an employer would judge an applicant. It doesn't matter to them what you've been through etc. only what your work history and age are. Do you really think they take the time to read CV's and application details in depth?

You can tell them how mature you are, how responsible you are and all that bullcrap but when it gets down to it they really dont care.
They don't care cuz they know you can be lying all you want just to get the job.
Theres no other proof you are those things besides what other employers tell them.
They want to make sure you are stable enough to work there, for all they know you can be a theif...so they rely on former employers.

It doesnt matter whats happened in your personal life. Hell I've probably been through alot more than you and that gave me no leg up into getting a job. If anything it pulls me back but it doesnt.

Plus you can think you have all those. Pretty much every younger teenager think they know everything. You have yet to experience certain important events in life.

In the state of TX you can start working at 15 if you have a work permit.
Without one its 16.
Employers are not supposed to pick by age unless they serve alcohol or porn.
They rumor that because you should have experience by 18.
I started working at 17.
I would know these things because live in the state of Texas.
Min wage went up but not much.

Hell if you want proof of that, its right under my employment history on my CV about all my non work accomplishments and what I've done out of work... and they still ask me at an interview what I did when I wasn't working.

Yes, that is fair. Hell, in my state, you have to be sixteen years of age in order to legally hold a job, unless you're working with family. Along with that, you have to be updated on your shots and physicals.

I'm 20 and jobless. People that are younger then me have got the job I put in ap after ap for. Life is s**t, only I need the job, I got car payments, gas, collage, internet, so on and then some.

Till I get one I'm stuck in a place I don't want to be, be happen you don't live in Michigan, we are the only state that is still trying hard to recover from Bush.

Yeah, it's fair. Look, no one in the world of employment gives a flying **** what you've been through, only that you have the experience to work the job that you're applying for. *shrugs* Welcome to the loveliness that is life.

At a young age it really becomes a catch 22. You don't get a job because you lack work experience, yet because you can't get that job or any, there is not way to build up the work experience.
