So, I need you guys' opinion on something.
As of today, I have decided to stop counting calories to lose weight. Why, you ask? Because it was driving me insane. I couldn't enjoy food any more; it was just a number added on to my allotment for the day and not something yummy or satisfying. And then, I'd be good for a day or two, and the next day, go on some ridiculous snacking binge, feel guilty, mega-regulate myself, ect. For me at least, it's a horrible cycle of guiltyness. Which sucks.
I mean, I understand that much of it is my lack of willpower. But, after doing an examination of my eating habits, I've come to a couple of conclusions: 1. I eat when I'm bored. 2. I eat unhealthily when I'm bored. 3. When I'm actually hungry, I eat very healthy. 4. I eat too fast.
Using this information, I have developed a new strategy. From now on, I'll write down what I ate (no calories-after counting for so long, I have a pretty good idea of what 1 portion size is), and why I ate it. I will also try to eat only when I'm obviously hungry, and only until I'm full. And, nothing will be "off limits". I mean, if that donut that's been sitting on the counter screaming "eat me!" is still there, and I'm physically hungry, I'm going to have a bit. And if I'm 'not hungry' before the donut is finished, I'm going to save the rest for another time. Not that I plan to lose weight by eating donuts all the time, but you know what I mean. I think I'm going to need to buy more tupperware.
Anyway, in doing so, I'm going to try and curb (and hopefully eliminate) eating from boredom. I figure that if I eat only when my body tells me I need to, coupled with regular exercise, I should be able to increase both my mental and physical health.
What do you guys think? If I stick to this, will it be more efficient and sustainable than counting calories?

you don't have to count cals but you def need to be aware of just how many there are in what ever you are going to eat. Because by saying nothing's off limit (which it shouldn't be in the first place, but in moderation) you may very well reach for that 700 cal donut more than once a day and then you start to gain all the weight back
Try instead of eating three big meals a day to eat at least 4 to 5 small snackish meals a day about every three hours so your system never feels hungry so it wont store the food as nasty nasty fat.
