Hi, my name is Amber and i'm 18. I've recently gained at least 10-12 pounds and i got a nasty wakeup this morning when i saw what my body now looks like. I want it to be nice and lean again. I probably weigh close to 140 now but i'm afraid to step on the gym scale in front of everyone. I've started taking birth control about two weeks ago, but the real culprit is my eating habits. I'm 5'3 so a healthy weight for me would be 115-120. I'm shooting for 120 but i'd love to be 112-115. Any ideas or suggestions for me? I'm going to carry around a meal journal and write down the things i eat and i am going to the gym Tues, Thurs, and Sun. If i have time i'm planning on joining the ab class on Mondays and Wednesdays. Thanks so much, i plan on sticking to my goal and keeping it off ^^

Actually, a healthy weight for you is 115 to 135, at your height. You probably aren't nearly as far away as you think you are.
I've posted the Good Health Guidelines, from some of my Weight Watchers literature, in the Weight Watchers Discussion thread. Have a look at those. If you follow those guidelines, you will increase your health and decrease your weight.

I'm the same height as you and have the same goal weight. x3 Though I'm around 120lbs, now, I start out around 160lbs. :3
Really just try to keep your calories around 1,200 - no more than 1,300 a day. And remember, in order to lose weight, you have to burn more calories than you take in. :3 Try exercising 4-5 days out of the week. :] And don't get frustrated when the scale doesn't budge! Most people hit their first plateaus after they've lost about 10-15lbs. :]

Also you gain water wieght when you first start to work out. Drink lots of water, its so imporant!
i wish you the best of luck!<3
