As someone who mainly played the oldschool Pokemon games, I don't bother with EV training stats and whateverthehelllyoudowiththat. I just rifle through the game like I would with R/B/Y.

How many of you actually look up all the stats and random things for EV Training?

I pretty much do what you do. ^^

I beat the story line, then use berries to reset my EV's and Ev train whatever pokemon i want to. Also, I save before choosing/catching a pokemon to make sure i get a good nature

After I beat the story I start EV training and stuff. I finally got all the EV items so I can easily train my EV's. I also make sure I catch(or breed) a pokemon with a nature I want. It takes a while though emo

Although most of my Pokemon aren't heavily EV trained, whenever I decide to train a new Pokemon I usually EV it. Natures don't matter as much to me as EVing my Pokemon, but if the nature makes the Pokemon suck, I just breed a new one domokun

EV= Effort Value
IV= Indevidual value.

The EV/4 is added to the IV to calculate your pokemons stats. ^^

This explains it a lot better than I can:

That reminds me, I had traded one of my Feebas with someone on the GTS for a Ho-Oh. I was level 70 and seems to be legit.....but his IV's suck! His highest one is 17 and thats for Attack. emo

Then it is probably not legit. Fortunatly, it was only a Feebas, they are copious breeders. If you have one, you can soon have a dozen. All you need is a ditto (or if the feebas is female, almost any water pokemon that is male). ^^

Yeah I know. But catching a Feebas can be a pain...unless you just trade.

I just tried the IV calculator with my Infernape. Does it work with trained Pokemon, by the way? Also, what does "EP" mean? The one that is under all of the stats you need to enter to check its IVs?
