Title: Wild Adapter

Alternative title:
ワイルド アダプター [Japanese]
와일드 어댑터 [Korean]

Genres: Mystery && Psychological.

From: Link to Website#1

Rated: Mature Ages, M18+ [Tokyo Pop print - my Singaporean Chuang Yi had no censorship ratings. xd ]

Creator: Kazuya Minekura

From the creator of Saiyuki comes a manga in the film noir tradition, full of intense action, wild assassins and mysterious, amnesiac strays.

Volume 1 Blurb: Makoto Kubota wandered through life, not taking things too seriously or looking too deep within himself. His job as the head of the Izumo Group's youth gang kept him pleasantly occupied with yakuza wars, mahjong and assassinations...Until the day he stumbled upon a strange drug called Wild Adapter that produces bizarre side-effects--including death. Forever changed, Kubota becomes entangled with a drifter named Minoru Tokito, and the two form an unlikely companionship that draws them deeper into the mystery of Wild Adapter...

Volume 2 Blurb: Life is cheap in the back alleys of Yokohama. Makoto has had enough of Sanada and the Izumo Organization, leaving it in a rain of blood. He sees the effect of Wild Adapter when he bumps into a pregnant woman at the convenience store. It seems a yakuza turf war is brewing, and Tokito is caught in the middle of it. How long can Makoto stay away from a life that keeps calling him?

Volume 3 Blurb: Kubota and Tokito decide to infiltrate a popular cult that preaches a return to a more animalistic level of humanity, hoping to pick up information on Wild Adapter and perhaps even Tokito's forgotten past. The yakuza are still hot on their tail, but there is a lot more to this new religion than just meditation and ritual chanting, and, once you join up, the only way out may be on a stretcher.

From: Website #2

I have volumes 1 && 2 and I hope to buy 3 this friday.
I really, really LOVE this manga. It was so compelling although the first volume was basically an introduction it was still interesting. It's more slashable than anything although there is a kiss in the first one and implications that Tokito like Makoto. rofl I really like the art, and I think *hides. DON'T KILL ME!* that Kubota-kun is gonna replace Uchiha Sasuke on my ICHIBAN BAD-ASSERY top 5. XD Haha. Poor Sasuke. TT^TT. When it gets approved I hope to post some images!!! DISCUSS!!!

As a huge fan of Minekura Kazua-sensei, I was thrilled when this series came out. I love it. I have V 1 and 2 and eagerly await V 3. I actually have the Wild Adapter artbook (bought about 2 yrs ago) and my friend found me the anime DVD for "Executive Committee", which is slightly slashy and really cute. I was told that Wild Adapter is Minekura-sensei's slashiest work (like Saiyuki isn't slashy enough, right?), and I am a big fan of the Kubota/Tokito pairing.

I just love the artwork. The storyline is just weird enough to keep me entertained. And any book where 2 boys kiss is all right with me.

I really wanted the one dude from volume 1 to kiss Kubota (even if they didn't get together.. just.. kiss 'im! DX) so I'm still trying to get used to Tokito. XP But I love the series, it's great.

[He's a guyXD]

[I love Wild adapter ^^]
[I got really confused on what was going on, though. So I haven't read it in ages]
[Have you read Executive committee? The main two characters are basically Tokito and Kubota in an AUXD]
[It's a lot more upbeat, though razz ]

Okay. So Kou-san is a guy. D:
Haha. Anyways, I've read a bit of EC. It's confusing and the characterisation's a bit weird. Haha. But it's definetly more slashieee. <33
HAHA. And it's so much more colourful and stuff - a bit light. Haha. But I really love the darkness of Wild Adapter- it's addictive!

[Yeh, it was an early work, so her writing's not as goodXD]
[It's addictive, but like with hrer newer Saiyuki books, I sometimes get confused what's going on 'cause there's too much happening]
[I really should read the latest chapter, though. I d/l'ed it, and then totally forgot about it]

Rulin' ya universes...

WA is one of my main obsessions at the moment. Along with porn, tea and cracky FFXII fanfiction. I found volume 2 at Minotaur in the city for dirt cheap (NEVER shopping at borders EVER again.) so I was like OMGSQUEE and read it 3 times in one day xD
It's so awesome! It's a damn cocktease though D; I mean come onnnn... they are so obvious... but somehow, they are really hot, like on the 18+ yaoi level hot, even though nothing really happens between them (yet)

Does anyone know how many volumes are being released? I have no idea... ^^;; Also, I'm writing a book here. biggrin

What I like about it is... the colour inserts (I'm a sucker for colour inserts.) the slashyness, and the random pwning. Still, I can't see why it's 18+? I can see why vol.1 was 18+ because of all the nudity, but vol.2 was an OT for me... Is it because of the violence and drugs or what? *confused*

And Executive Committee is glorious too... I wish they'd license it, because I want to own it. I also want all the WA merch in the world! BAHAHA! (like the wallscroll *drool* )
...since 1992.

Rulin' ya universes...

baha my previous post was cracky. I'm sorry.

OMG. So, I ordered vol.5 online 'cause I didn't find it in stores...
GOD why must I live in Australia,so far from everything? She shipping was more than the actual book >.>;; and it's gonna take like 3 weeks but yay! I can't wait until it arrives!

Any of you read it yet?

I read it like three days ago. I enjoyed that it went back and explained a few things. I also liked how it was told from the random neighbor kid's point of view.
