James set his fork down and looked at Lily when she dropped her fork. He placed a hand gently on her shoulder. "Is something wrong Lily?"

Lily giggled. "I'm fine, Potter. I've just spent so long-since our first year- being angry and irritated with you that it feels weird to be sitting at a table other than my own house having a normal conversation with you."

James smiled. "Oh ok. So does this mean you're no longer angery and irritated with me anymore?"

Lily grinned. "Perhaps," she replied loftily. "It might just be on hiatus."

"YES!" James cheered and blushed. "I mean that's good if it's good for good."

Lily looked at him in surprise and amusement. "Um... Okay. Are you always that excitable?"

"Hey I've been trying to get you to like me since first year. And now you don't hate me anymore. It's a major break through I think excitement is a good reaction to that." He smiled.

Lily's grin widened. "You remind me of the little kids I sit when I'm free. The way you act, I mean."

He raised an eyebrow. "Is that a good thing?"

"Well, let's see. They're energetic, amusing, cute, and have a tendency to attempt to flirt with me." She ticked each characteristic off on her fingers, then turned her head towards James, resting it on a hand and grinning. "You tell me."

James smiled. "Well those all sound good. I don't know how I feel about those kids flirting wit you though. On one hand they deffinately have good taste but I don't like compition. I think I need to meet those little buggers and make sure they know that I plan on sweeping you off your feet." He said playfully. "I bet you are a great babysitter."

"Is James Potter, Gryffindor's greatest seeker in a long time, jealous of five to eleven year olds? Just so you know, they don't stand a chance. They're much too young for me."

James smirked. "So I have a chance."

"Perhaps. I might have to tell your friends that you're jealous of little kids first," she teased.

"Hey if it improves my chances. But I have a feeling my chances are better than you want to admit anyways." He smirked and leaned closer. "Dinner's been over for awhile and we're cutting it close to braking curfew." James had just noticed himself.
