Gikishou smiled. "Sea horses that thrive in dark parts of the ocean. aren't they beautiful."He said in awe, and noticed the octopus that used bioluminescence in a different tank. "I haven't been in this exhibit before, so I may had a slight problem with staying focused on only one- is that octopus with another one?!" He asked, smiling and then remembering that Kyo was looking at the sea horses. "Sorry." He said sheepishly, staying beside Kyo.

"Don't worry about it," Kyo said, still staring at the seahorses. "I wonder what gives the creatures their glow. There had to be some special organ, right?" He watched as a seemingly curious seahorse swam toward his face, staring at him for a moment before swimming away.

Gikishou nodded. "Actually, it's part f their DNA. Evolution. This way, they look like predators so that the real ones won't try to eat them... like the octopus. That's a real predator and lures small fish over for food. I don't think they're going to feed it right now, you wanna go see it?"

"Sure, I'd like to see it," Kyo replied, finally looking away from the seahorse tank. "A glowing octopus sounds interesting, but what if it's asleep?"

Gikishou walked over to the octopus tank with him. "Hopefully it will be awake." He saw that it was, and moving around. There were beautiful glowing spots on its body. "Wow... isn't it beautiful?"

Kyo nodded in agreement, staring at the spots just as he did when he was back at the seahorse tank. The octopus didn't seem to mind that a lot of people were staring at it, but maybe it's just used to that.

Gikishou smiled and then saw one girl tapping the glass. He gently stopped her. "Don't do that, it hurts things that live underwater." He told her, and her mother pulled the girl away. "She doesn't need advice from you." Her mother scoffed. Gikishou frowned but nodded, standing and soon beside Kyo again, forcing a smile. "So what do you think?"

"I think it's amazing," Kyo replied with fascination evident in his voice. "I've never seen such things this close. I'm becoming more curious about other sea creatures and their abilities for survival." As he watched the octopus move, he could also see the spots moving around much like the fireflies back at the house.

Gikishou nodded. "An interesting one for turtles, which don't have bioluminescence, is that their underbellies are pale white/blue and their shells are browns and greens. Birds don't see them easily when they look down, and sharks don't see them when they're below them. That's why sharks have the thorns. Since they couldn't find prey, only the ones who had them could survive." He smiled. "And it's not just marine animals that have interesting survival traits. Some frogs in Africa can spontaneously change gender if there are a lot of a single gender. That way, once they change sex, reproduction is still possible."

"At least the frogs won't have to worry about who they love," Kyo said, though a bit sadly. "They could just change gender and they can be with that partner frog." For some reason, talking about love and partners seemed to hurt him, but he didn't really know why.

"I think frogs are a bit smarter than us anyway. I doubt they'll care about thee gender of whom others love. We're a bit more picky. Then again, a lot of people believe that humans are the only ones that can feel emotion, which I think is stupid."

"Humans tend to be ignorant, I guess," Kyo said, thinking a little. "A lot of people can't stand the thought of anything being smarter than us. I don't really understand why. We should accept that maybe we're not the most intelligent beings on this planet."

Gikishou chuckled. "Oh I know we're not. put us in the ocean without being in a submarine or a ship and we'll be done for within three days. put us in a rainforest and an average person wouldn't survive even that long. The only supposed safe place for humans are cities. Not only that, but we're soft, don't have claws, and aren't brightly colored. Outside of cities, we're just very obvious prey."

"So, physically, we're one of the weakest creatures on Earth, right?" Kyo asked, considering the information told to him. "We don't have many natural abilities like speed, camouflage, or natural poisons that can help us survive. If we're just put in the wild unprepared, then it's guaranteed death. Is that what you're saying?"

"For the average human, most likely.I won't say guaranteed though. We do have one physical attribute that's helpful: our size. We're bigger than a lot of animals, so we make more noise when we walk. That scares away lots of the animals... though it could attract bigger ones. Also, we have opposable thumbs. We can make shelters and such and live, but it takes tapping into instincts and caring less about how you look, like brushing your hair. You can't do that in the wild, nor can you make new clothes without having a bit of difficulty, or go without breaking a nail. If we can throw off our cares about personal appearance and also rely on instinct, we might survive." He smiled. "And some animals don't use camouflage, they make themselves brightly colored, which means that they'll taste bad, supposedly. It's really big with caterpillars."
