Yanueh maenad nuri *bangs head against wall repeatedly* I really shouldn't try to engage with the few Atheists in M&R who are righteous assholes. No. In fact, you really shouldn't be fighting at all. Atheists and pagans have more in common with each other than either one has in common with the biggest religion here in the US, Christianity.
Not these ones. Not ones that find anything religious to be a delusion and intellectually dishonest.

See, I like the ones who will gladly have a debate with them on the religious side, and me on the atheistic, 3nodding

Zealot-athiests are the worst. It does bring to mind, however, a Terry Pratchett character I read about. He was the Discworld's only athiest, and had been struck by lightening around 17 times...and kept on saying he was an atheist because the Gods were sure as hell not going to bully him into believing in them!
I heart Terry Pratchett SO much!

I'd debate that neither of us are like the others. They believe in a revealed, scripture based religion that reveres one god, and his son born on earth. Atheists, typically, don't believe in any form of a god. Pagans...well that's such a broad term that making generalizations is kind of tough.
The dictionary defines "Pagan" as being any faith that is NOT Christian, Hebrew, or Islamic in background. By that definition it's hard for Pagan religions to ever find something in common with THEMSELVES.

I must finally read this author! After I'm done with George R. R. Martin of course.

I don't think that the labels are what should determine who we choose to disagree with in public- I think principles should. I'd rather hang out with nice Christians than jerks that are pagan or atheists.

Apparently replying to his post in sections is "slicing it to ribbons" (well, I'd say I sliced his post to ribbons, but for a different reason), and now he can't respond.
Maybe I'm weird, but telling me I have to argue with you in a certain way only makes me laugh at you.

I think telling me that prayer is intellectually dishonest, and then refusing to address a point by point rebuttal is even more so.
At least the first is usually done in good faith.

This is a good example of why I don't go into M&R at all. Too many trolls and too many people who aren't expressing opinions; they're expressing why they are right and you are wrong, and they not interested in listening to anything to contradicts that. If you DO prove they're wrong or that the need to reexamine their stance or opinion....they call you an a*****e and run away.
I'm sorry, I work with the public in food service and I have to tell idiots that they are right when they are wrong as a part of my JOB. I sure as hell don't need when I'm off. wink
