Lily softened a little and fell silent, picking at her food. "I see,"she murmured after a minute. "I guess all the assumptions I ever made about you were skewed a little, huh?"

"Because I judged you by your pranks, which might seem noble or whatever to you. To me, your pranks are nothing short of childish and cruel or pulled off on the spur of the moment in retaliation to whatever emotion you were feeling. For instance, that day in the courtyard."

"That was Snivellus' fault. He came up with that spell in his potions text book. I saw it and figured it was a good way to test him. If he was as good as you and Remus thought him to be then it would have been a harmless spell that cured cancer or something. If he was bad like I know he is it would have been a malicious spell."

"He's not all bad. I mean, yes, he's a bloody git that I can't believe I let be my friend, but the point is that at one point, he was my friend. He was my first wizard friend, in fact. So, he can't be all bad, right?"

James sighed. "If you think so then fine he may not be all bad. Can we talk about something other than Snivellus now? Like things you like to do outside of school."

"I don't know. During the summer, my sister and I like to go in this grove of trees near our house and just play. Or at least, we used to. She got a boyfriend over last semester and she hates me now." Lily shrugged as if to say "oh, well. Moving on."

James smirked abit. "Lily I think you need to relax some. I think this summer I should kidnap you and show you what fun is a day."

"I know how to have fun, James. But... I suppose we could get together over the break. We'd have to study, too, though."

James pouted. "Couldn't we study seprately? I don't want to waste time I have with you in books. I have Remus if I needed help studying."

Lily chuckled. "Something tells me you usually wait until the last minute to finish your work." She shrugged. "Have it your way. So, what do you do for fun, James Potter?"

"Well I love to fly around and watch quidditch. But I was thinking we could go to a movie, try out what muggles call bowling. Or we can have a snowball fight. It might be fun to try that the muggle way."

Lily laughed. "During summer vacation, Potter? There's no snow on the ground. Even a pure blood wizard would know that. As for bowling, I'd love to show you how. It's not difficult really. You roll a ball as hard as you can at a pyramid of pins."

"I didn't know we were talking about summer vacation. I thought we were talking about winter break. And wizards know perfectly well what weather goes with each season." He chuckled abit.

"Oh. I suppose we could get together during winter break, too." Lily dropped her fork and fiddled with her hands under the table. It felt strange to be talking to James Potter like this; it felt strange to have even admitted to herself her true feelings for him.
