They're going to be in Seattle...? Huh, guess I should pay more attention.
As to the holidays... bah humbug! More expenses I didn't need... it's gotten worse over the years. This year my kids and I are "adopting" a child from an orphanage across the border, we'll be sending a shoebox full of goodies for some youngin that doesn't have much of anything. The kids are really excited about this project, and it's good to have an opportunity to show them the true meaning of giving. 3nodding

We have been getting tons of things about donating and giving (like the shoebox program) from many different places since we started our adoption (which by the was was finalized on Nov. 9th).

Hello all... It's been a while since I've been on... this school year has been very challenging for me with a lot of bullshit happening almost everyday. At times I feel my life is so surreal especially when my fellow teachers find the need to come to my classroom to vent. I'm not sure why this happens but it has for the last 6 years since I've been at my school. My husband seems to think that it's because I'm Special subject area teacher and don't work with a partner or grade level team. So, the other teachers feel safe coming to my room to vent about their teammates or partners. I've never devulged anything that is said in my room to anyone, my husband being the exception, so I guess many of the teachers feel that what they say to me stays with me... which it does but this recent surge of venting is seriously draining me. Without going into full detail, all I can say is I can't wait for Christmas Break when I can just unwind and purge all that I've absorbed these past few months. I'm not sure I can really put up with another year of this... I love my students but things have changed a lot at my school with the new administration and I'm not sure I'm happy. There are days when I love going to work and days when I wonder why am I driving an hour in traffic to a job when there is a perfectly great school down the street from me that I could apply for a job at. I don't know, maybe it was turning 45 this week that is making reflect on my current job, maybe it is the fact that my 18 year old daughter will be going off to college next year and I'm going to miss her. Whatever the reason, I'm just glad that I have Gaia for support.

Sounds like a mid-life crisis to me...
Remember "This too will pass"
Changing of schools sounds like a win-win situation from what little you said about the closer location... the time and gas saved alone may be well worth the change.

I think sometimes you just need a change. - Especially if you aren't all that sure if your happy with the current situation. It certainly wouldn't hurt to investigate opportunities with that school that is nearer you.

At least you don't shovel rain. Here in Montreal (Quebec. Canada, eh!) we've had 30+ inches of snow in 5 days, mostly Sunday to Tuesday. The roads are fairly well cleaned but small side streets still suck
