A friend of mine broke that, Mana. I believe it's supposed to be 1 in 100 pokemon you see are shiny. You have to fight a single type of pokemon 100 times, give or take a few, and you'll see one.

I broke the RNG on Golden Sun, so that I got myself rare equipment drops every time I fought in a certain area. xD

That's not breaking the generator, Lan. That's deciphering basic principles. The idea behind breaking it, is that you'll find that shiny after one encounter. Every little thing you do influences your chances.
