megalomaniac-freak DR490N well, now you see why i dont get along too well with most normals. all my friends and my girlfriend are openminded about all of this...i psifeed from her regularly, and she tells me its the only way she can fall asleep...im considering a bloodfeed, but i'm slightly uncomfortable with the idea of biting people while i'm sober...most of my bloodfeeds have been from preexisting cuts...nonetheless, a sanguine friend of mine suggested that i take from just above the breast. any thoughts? I would definately recommend finding out where any major veins and expecially arteries are so that you know where to avoid; nothing's worse than causing major arterial damage and having to explain how your donor got a clean cut to the hospital doctors. As for specifically where, it's up to you. I, for example, am preferable to the collar bone, but others prefer anything from arms to legs to stomachs. Also, biting isn't a good idea (if that's what you meant), use a sterile blade and clean around the cut before you/they cut and after you eat ~ it's the little details that show you care~. yeah i was listing areas off over the phone. when she heard me say collarbone she was like "oooh. collarbone. that could get interesting" she has a very sensitive(and very well veined) neck. i've gotten a little vampy with her lying on my lap before and had to look away for a moment to calm myself down...that combined with her highly sexually charged energy makes her very hard to resist xd

As far as "real" vampires go, those who need other's blood to continue existing, it's not really a biological thing, but a psychological. The propper term is hematophagy. It is the indulgance in teh blood of another being.
Now, psionic vampires is another story. While it would still be an unnececary function, "feeding" off of the emotions of other beings is quite possible.
Now that I've gone over the physical details, here's what I think.
Vampires, in the sense that a human being might require another living creatures blood to survive is non-existant. Vampires, in the sense that a human being might like to drink another creatures blood is existent. But as I said, it's a mental dependance, not a physical one.
And no, I'm not just a nay-sayer. I've done my homework.

oh it's quite existant. in fact most of my kind can do both. however, it can act like an addiction, which is part of why i'm very careful with bloodfeeding and prefer not to do so too often. i can sustain my basic functions with energy in itself, but i actually do need blood on occasion, whether i want it or not, which i usually dont. i dont like the taste, and i dont like to be reliant on others' compliance.

Ah, but therein lies the psycologists delight. While you may not like it you may have developed a psychological dependence, for whatever reason, on blood. It's even possible for this mental infatuation of sorts to manifest itself with physical symptoms if it is not sated. It is quite common with phobias and dependancies to manifest themselves in the way the the patient imagines they will manifest themselves when they aren't given what is "required".
In the instance of vampirism, a psychological dependance on blood that is not fed will result in common symptoms that the patient imagines will happen. This includes, but is not limited to, weakness, mentally or physicall,, sensitivity to sun, shortened burn time, ect... All of the common symptoms associated with most vampyric myths.
The human mind is an amazing an powerfull tool. It also regulates the whole body. If the mind perceives that something is happening, the body will react accordingly.
For instance, if someone is hypnotized, and they are told that their hand is on fire, their cells will instantly start forming clouses and scar tissue, attempting to "heal" the immaginary injury.
I'm not trying to discredit you,I'm merely stating what I've found.
See, orrigionally I also was a vampire, in the way I've described. It came about as no mently will of my own, but merely manifested itself early in my life.
So, I started researching, and I found what I've told you. Adn a lot more, of course, but the basics are was I've just described. After realising it for what it was, I was able to reverse it, and "cure" my vampirism. Therefore, my case.

sanguinarian vampires are blood vamps. those who consistently need to drink blood to survive. as i have said, i seem to be a bit of both psychic and saguine, so i look into both. not too heavily though. i dont care much for research.

Im not interested in the modern vampire; the psychic vampires, sanguines, or anything else. I grew up reading the books from the library that were about old vampires: the garlic, the stake, the power of the cross and holy ground. I fell in love with finding the odd ways one becomes a vampire or the vampires from around the world.
However, I live in a very Christian area and there arent a lot of more adult and sensible books on the nature of vampires and their creation. Is there anyone here who could suggest books or references to the creation of vampires? Id like to research it for my own personal reasons.
I am aware of Caine being considered the first vampire in a lot of games and stories, but Im looking for something a little more concrete. I think thats the word Im looking for.
Also, does anyone have any information on a vampire regaining their humanity?

Funny, I've always just thought vampires as people who's souls aren't quite right for this world somehow, either too strong or not connected to whatever the hell is needed properly. Weell, that's just me for one, I'm sure it feels completely different to everyone else because no-one ever percieves things in the same way when it's something subjective.
As for the vampire legends being real.....stranger things have happened, apparently...but as for them being actually true....well, I think there's more chance of pigs becoming Red Arrows pilots......
By the way, if you ever meet someone that says they can make you a vampire, run like hell coz it's some kind of wierd money-grabbing cult, someone that really shouldhave a bad hair cut and moustache with a bag of sweets (read: raping pervert), or someone that if they're for real is going to mess you up real bad. Just. Run. Selling your soul ain't ever a good thing, no matter what the promises for it are.

DR490N no, because we're still human. the theories i spoke of pertain to ACTUAL vampirism. Well, disregarding anything to deal with actual vampirism. Im not interested in people who are/claim to be/want to be vampires and I dont mean this in a rude way, but Im really looking at the fictional side of the story. Often I find that the fake vampires are more interesting then the real ones. Can you be stopped at an intersection and be forced to count the rice on the ground until the sun comes up and you're forced to flee to your grave or perish in the sunlight?

no, because we dont burst into ******** flames in the sun. thats a goddamned hollywood myth. most of us, myself included, went to sunburn very quickly(i can get a slight tan on my arms if im outside with them uncovered for more than 5 minutes in direct sunlight. i'm okay in decent shade though.) we dont sleep in coffins(most of us anyways), and we dont crawl into a goddamned grave, because WE ARENT DEAD AND WE ARENT UNDEAD. WE ARE ACTUAL LIVING BREATHING PEOPLE AND YES WE HAVE A ******** SOUL! See, this is why i hate so many people. i mention vampire and they either think i'm full of s**t or think to some ******** hollywood, fantasy mamby-pants gayass stereotype.
