The more they fought, the more Shik wore away at the hunter. Little pricks and trips to wheedle him down. He was trying to resist killing the b*****d but--
"Is this what you call a fight? My five year old neice handles a knife better, you overgrown chicken!"
--he just didn't have it in him.
In went the dagger, nice and clean into the throat. Out went the dagger, nice and bloody. Shik wouldn't suffer even an illusion being able to parade around with his face.
Happy thoughts, Shaheen: he'd wanted to kill him too.

By this point, Saiyuri wasn't playing 'nice' any longer, her weapon out while she used the chain to block her Ugly Twin's attacks. The horseman hissed, a feral sound emitting from her small form. "Why... do you mimic me?!" She asked in a hushed tone, brows furrowed in much confusion. The way the other moved... attacked. It was similar to her own movements! The attacking was a little different, but they had different weapons.
She slashed at the Hunter again, wincing at the pained expression that appeared on the face so like her own.
"I don't understand. But there is only one of me! I don't need two." Though two would be fun.... No! No no she had a job to do. And Lord Death he'd said... no killing.
But why were there two of her?! "What are you?" She whispered, backing away and crouching in a defensive manner. Something was wrong! Very wrong. And Saiyuri did not like this anymore.

Nirva hadn't expected the change in scenery, the sudden shifting always un-nerved her. Some part of her brain linked to the ability to fly always found the whole thing unsettling and caused her wings to flare before tucking back in.
What they saw was the island, the hunters home.
When the vertigo cleared it was clear what they needed to do, it was simple, it was what she did. Kill the threat.
What she hadn't expected was the hunter to move forward and lash out with axes like her own. Hunters where quick, more then human, how long had it been since she last fought one? The twin axes appeared in her own hands catching the two aimed at her. There she could see them up close as hooked head caught the others.
"What..." they both whispered at the same time eying the others weapon. It was then they saw each other for the first time. Hunter and Horsemen, both where the same.
"What is this Runic power..." She pushed back kicking herself away wings flaring to life kicking her into the sky as the hunter did the same. She felt the fear, felt it slipping into her crystal, but confusion also took root.
Why was she fighting herself?

She hadn't really looked at the hunters face, because to her it just didn't matter. One human was much like the rest, and they all would meet their end eventually. It was just that Shaheen so happened to believe that she should give them a shortcut to that end, and that it should be met on the end of her blade.
The Fear was just so much deliciously sweet that way. There was nothing that could compare to the Fear of one on the brink of death, just before darkness took them.
Turning in mid-air after her initial slash at the hunter, she turned only to see that the hunter had turned as well, glaring straight at her with familiar honey brown eyes flecked with gold. Eyes that had been lost to Shaheen, but that she would still recognize as a reflection of her own, what they had been before the insanity had altered them.
"No.." She hissed. What trickery was this? Where had Death really brought them? She recognized the same disbelief on the other womans face, just before she darted forward and struck at her again.
"Abomination." The other woman, the Shaheen in hunter form, spat back, clutching at where her blade had struck and moving with uncanny speed and grace to attack in return.

Shaheen did not share this hunters views. If anybody here was the abomination, it was her, and simply because she existed. Alternate universe, illusion, trance...it mattered not what world this was. A human was a human, and she spared no thoughts towards mercy. She lifted her blade to block the hunters attack, a clanging of steel against steel ringing through the air. She grunted with the effort it took, and strained under the pressure that was wielding down upon her, before pushing back, their blades scraping apart before Shaheen; the real Shaheen; slashed just once more, this time aiming for the hunters throat. A clean cut. A wash of blood. Gurgling sounds escaped from hunter Shaheen's throat before she collapsed to the ground in a heap, with a tall and furious chieftain standing and staring down at her with a cold glare. Snarling a few choice curses under her breath, she turned away, eyes roaming over the others, but in search of only one. Axes flashed through the air, both hunter copy and Nirva herself circled about one another axes lashing out. She threw her own together one underhand, one over. The first was met by her doubles own in mid flight, what was more disturbing was how the other self seemed to know, seemed to know how she would throw and dodge.
Twisting through the air she felt the copies axe slide across her cheek leaving a thin red line. It only gave her a moment to catch the grin, the twisted hungry grin of triumph on her own face that the fake was wearing.
"No..." she muttered as she summoned her axes once more, "NO!"

The retreating hunter Turned, swinging wildly at Nergui as charged forward, but the horseman was faster, and she avoided the dark edge of the woman's blade as her own found purchase. Her crystal was singing, fuller now then it had ever been, but she ignored it. They were collecting fear, and giving the gems back, she mustn't use it's power.
As the women parted the priestess was once again struck by the odd familiarity. Heterchromic eyes, not her own silver and gold, but pale blue, and dusty hazel. It made the mare pause, lip curling a she stared back at what was nearly a mirror image of herself. The hunter sneered, laughing under her breath as she pressed a hand to the wound on her chest to slow the bleeding. "You're nothing but a fragment," the woman taunted, head lifting as she smirked back at Nergui.
"You will die, human," was the priestess' purred response. Voice low and gravel with the growing vibrato of a growl. "Then we will see who is a fragment."

Laughter was trickling from the hunter's dark lips as she lunged forward to slash at the priestess, but again Nergui was faster, and her scimitar rose up between them. It met soft resistance as the tip of the blade entered the woman just below her sternum, and Neru was rewarded with a startled gasp before her foe coughed, blood splattering one dark shoulder and dribbling down the woman's chin.
It was a mortal wound, but the priestess was a cold woman, and she leaned forward so her lips wear beside the hunter's ear, left hand raising to cradle the back of her head as she whispered. "Now who is the figment?" Subtle pressure was given to the blade, and as she spoke the dark metal sank deeper and deeper into the woman's chest, point angled upward towards the heart. "I will steal your life, and you will be nothing but a corpse and a memory. You are nothing."
When her blade had sunk in hilt deep she let the weapon fade, stepping to the side so the dying woman could fall forward. Dead before she hit the ground.
Silver and gold eyes stared down at the body as it bled at her feet, and she didn't even bother to move as that warm wash of crimson pooled around the point where she stood. She had been a mirror, a human analog of herself, body and mind, but it wasn't her.
Whatever was happening, it wasn't the normal hunter raid that they'd faced in the past. Every human they faced, no matter where she looked, carried the image of one of their own. "What is this trickery?" It was asked of no one, and she didn't really expect an answer.

Eitri caught the hunter in no time, sickle reaching out and catching the man's arm, spinning around. It was then the Hunter's eyes fell on Eitri's face for the first time and his eyes widened, mouth agape for a moment. It seemed he wasn't expecting such a strong resemblance between them. Eitri rocked on his heels, sickle staying in front and guarding.
"Now you see my problem," he said; almost jokingly. "Not enough room for two of me; the world couldn't handle such beauty."

It seemed the hunter wasn't ready to die, either. His attack came as quickly as it did the last time it caught him off guard and Eitri was surprised; the man moved well for someone who'd been injured already. But Eitri was stronger and faster - he countered the Hunter's attack, sickle running along his shoulder and leaving another fresh wound.
This would be over soon and the Hunter knew it. He turned and ran; stumbling and faultering. Too slow. Eitri's arm flung forward, his sickle leaving his wrist as it flicked. It flew through the air; it's aim never off. Thud. Right into the back of the Hunter who fell instantly to his knees. Blood splattered the ground as he coughed and Eitri made his way to him, pulling out the sickle and flicking the blood off.
A boot nudged the hunter in the back, his corpse falling face first into the ground. "Now then. I need a drink. More than one."

The hunter sprang forward, as quick as Mmur himself was, slamming his fist into the horseman's jaw. Mmur raised clawed fingers to his face, shooting the human an incredulous look that probably had a bit of a pout in it as well.
The look the hunter returned was not the same at all. It was brimming with malice, likely reminiscent of the one Mmur had worn minutes before. The horseman didn't like how it sat, no matter how familiar. He called forth his own weapon, not at all surprised when the hunter's whip appeared once more. It was a shame. It made such a pretty tiara.

This time she dove, a wild drive towards the false Hunter that took her face. Twin axes lead the way in a flurry of blows and feathers as the two seemed to move step by step in a mirrored dance. A foot sweeped in catching the hunter, an axe across the belly.
A word exchanged taunting she hissed in rage.
"You aren't the real one, I am hunter, you're a fake a mockery!" Another axe thrown through the air slapped aside by the copy.
"I'll kill you when this is through!"

The whip hissed through the air. Mmur spun away from its metal edges and circled his foe, a snarl raising his lip. A few solid hits was all it would take. He wanted to speak, to taunt this unnatural doppelganger, but he wasn't going to give it the satisfaction. The hunter would speak first, or no one would speak at all.

Again, the hunter struck. Again, Mmur danced away, light on his feet now that he was able to anticipate the human's movements. They were his own. Well, maybe not that punch thing. He normally didn't go around just socking jaws, but he was starting to think it might be a good idea to try it more often.
