[-][L-A][1x1] Without A Pack

Rayn turned to Bray and saw the confusion in his eyes. Of course a wolf wouldn't know what a canoe was. How dumb of Rayn to assume Bray would understand. "This" the human began, pointingto a long gray boat "is a canoe. Humans use them to travel on water. We sit in it and it allows us to float on water without getting wet." He walked over to the canoe and inspected it to make sure everything was intact. Which, to Rayn's delight, it was. "Alright, Bray. We're good to go. jump in and sit still" He smiled and held the small boat steady so his mate could get in without tiping it over.

Bray moved closer to the object that Rayn called a canoe. It was a curious smelling thing. He could smell other humans that had used it and water on it even though it wasn't in the water. Watching Rayn inspect it the other seemed happy with his findings. Bray followed the order to get in and sit still until the other moved in to the water at which point he promptly jumped out whining. There was no way that thing would hold on the water or so he thought. It looked like a log with a hole and logs with holes sunk.

The human jumped, startled, when the wolf jumped out of the canoe. He enarly fell and lost his grip, sending the canoe drifting ddown the river. "Bray!" Rayn whispered harshly, his heart racing. "Don't scare me like that!" He pulled the canoe back onto the shore and sat down, running his hands through over his face. The human breathed silently, evening out his breathes as best he could, before turnig back to his mate.

"Bray...you're afraid it will sink, right? You only got nervous after we got into the water." he waited for a second, but he knew he was right. "Canoes dont' sink unless there's something wrong with them. Humans use them all the time. I promise, Love, I would never let that happen to you"

Bray curled his tail underneath of him looking sheepish when the other whispered his name harshly. Then when the other ordered him not to scare him like that, he whimpered. It was obvious to Bray that the other was not happy about what he had done.

He nodded in answer to the question about if he thought the thing would sink. Bray looked confused when Rayn said the thing wouldn't sink. The...canoe... had a hole where they sat why wouldn't it sink, but Rayn assured him it was fine. Slowly he moved back to the other still worried about the thing sinking but Rayn said that he would never let anything happen to him.

The slow, cautious movements the wolf were making made Rayn pause. What was he so afraid of? It's just a piece of wood, right? Then it hit him. Bray wasnt' in fear of the boat, he was scared at teh way Rayn had reacted. The human hadn't meant to be harsh, he was just shocked, but he now realized he had taken it out on his mate. Pulling the canoe back onto teh shoreline, he turned and patted his lap, motioning for Bray to sit in it.

"Bray" he began softly, soothingly "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to snap at you like that. I was just surprised when you jumped out like that. I swear i never meant to be so harsh to you.....please forgive me" Rayn laid his forehead against the wolf's temple and kissed his muzzle, hoping his love would not be afraid of him. Yes, Rayn was the Alpha, but that didnt' mean he had to be a tyrant as well. He only hoped Bray knew that as well

Bray's ears perked softly when Rayn patted his lap after pulling the canoe to shore. Slowly he made his way into Rayn's lap for once glad for his small size because he climbed into Rayn's lap without hurting him. Ears perked more when the other whispered his name.

Listening to the other apologize and beg forgiveness was surprising to hear. Bray of course immediately gave the desired forgiveness. Bray licked Rayn's cheek before nosing his head beneath the other's chin. Bray was content to sit there on Rayn's lap. However he made himself move knowing the other wanted to get away from the village. He padded over to the canoe jumping in before looking back to Rayn his vibrant green eyes trusting the other.

Rayn let out a long, soft sigh when Bray rested in his lap. Human or wolf, having Bray in his arms just felt right in a way the boy thought he would never be able to describe. He felt Bray cuddling closer as they sat together, resting his head beneath Rayn's chin. It felt incredible having another heartbeat working right next to his own.

When the wolf moved away, the human began to worry. Perhaps teh wolf thought him weak and had reconsidered being in his pack. Luckily, this was not the case at all. The human watched as the wolf jumped into the canoe and looked back at him with deep emerald eyes. The trust within them was aparent, and Rayn was touched. Without a word, Rayn got up and slowly pushed the tiny boat into the water, getting in as gracefully as he could so as not to shake it and scare his love.

The canoe did, in fact, sway with each movement once it was afloat, but the movements were gently, like a moher rocking her baby. Hopefully Bray would not be too frightened. "Don't worry" the human assured his wolf, patting his head gently "We're not going to fall itno the water as long as we sit still"

Bray stayed in the canoe as it moved despite feeling nervous. He stayed put as it hit the water this time watching Rayn. Bray gave a soft whine as Rayn got into the canoe causing it to sway and shake a bit. When the other was in and situated Bray lay down and rested his head in Rayn's lap. Bray gave a slight wag of his tail when Rayn told him that they weren't going to sink into the water as long as they stayed still.

Rayn patted between Bray's ears as the river naturally took them down stream, far away from his old village. He smiled and looked down into those beautiful green eyes, and felt at peace for the first time in a long time. Minutes turned to an hour and still the two floated down the river, Rayn using an oar he'd found in teh canoe to steer them when necessary. Eventually, the human spotted a clearing in the woods surrounding them and steered the canoe into a gentle landing on the river bed. "Alright, love" he smiled "We're miles away from the village now. it will take your old pack at least a day to catch up to us. Let's go find somewhere to stay for the night"

Bray relaxed as Rayn pet him while the floated down the stream. The longer they floated the sleepier Bray got. Bray dozed off until they landed on land startling the wolf awake as the canoe rocked a bit. Jumping from the canoe again Bray shook off before looking around sniffing at the air to make sure they were safe.

Rayn was started at first when Bray suddenly jumped, but he realized the wolf was just anxious and searching the area. He smiled as he got out of the canoe and tied it to a nearby tree. Hopefully, they wouldn't need it again, but it was better to have a back up plan. The human stretched and rubbed his stiff muscles, hoping to recover quickly from the long ride.

Bray had disappeared into the tree line for a moment following a scent. When he returned he found Rayn had tied the canoe up. Padding over to the man he sat before him his tail wagging pleasantly. He gave a soft whine to catch attention.

A quiet noise caught the human's attention. He looked down to find Bray at his feet, his tail wagging. With a smile, Rayn got down on one knee and kissed the wolf's head. "Find anything?" he asked softly as he stroked Bray's head affectionately

Bray wagged his tail more when Rayn paid attention to him. Rubbing his head under the other's chin after it was kissed he gave a bark indicating that he had indeed found something. He allowed Rayn to pet him for a few moments before bouncing away playfully in the direction he had already been.

Rayn laughed softly at how excited Bray seemed to become after being given even a little bit of attention. He was just so adorable, Rayn couldn't help but love him more every second. Of course, he would never admit how fast he was falling for him. Rayn was the Alpha,he needed to appeare strong. When Bray ran, Rayn followed quickly behind, making sure not to lose sight of the wolf as they darted through the forest.
