Lucius's mouth quirked slightly in a cynical smile. "Don't be ridiculous, Lupin. My friends would never accept you. But don't worry. I'll protect you from them." His smile grew as he thought about what Remus's little Gryffindor friends would say if they could hear their conversation now.

"I want the things I can't have, and I find entertainment in stirring up emotions in other people. For instance, if you take a look over at your house table, your friends are flabbergasted, and little Severus here in front of us is beyond words."

"As is the rest of the school." Remus pointed out. "It's not often you seen two guys kissing and you never see a Gryffindor and a slytherin kissing and now they've seen that twice in less than half an hour. Plus you kissing a hlf blood. I'm surprised nobody has had a heart attack from all the shock."

Lucius grinned and ran a hand behind Remus's ear, brushing the hair away lightly. "We could do something right here that would truly shock everyone."

Lucius grinned maliciously at Severus, who stormed past and went back to the Slytherin house table to finish eating, his eyes purposely staying locked on his food or the table. Lucius shrugged and turned back Remus, one hand trailing down to cup the front of Remus's robes.

Remus eyes got wide and he blushed deeply. "No. You know I'm hungry so I'm going to go back to eatting." He kissed Lucius' cheek. "I'll see you later then."

Lucius scowled. A rejection like that right where everyone could see him?! He would make Remus sorry for that even if it was at the expense of his friendship with either Remus or Severus. Severus, meanwhile, grinned when he saw Remus walk away. He tried catching the werewolf's eye, trying to communicate to him that he was sorry for what he had said.

Remus didn't want to look at the Slytherin table and see all the glares that were probably being directed right at him. He also tried to ignore all the yelling his friends were doing about him making the same mistake of dating a slytherin and how Malfoy was even worse than Severus.

Remus glanced around to make sure nobody was listening to them. "Severus called me a half-breed so I decided to get together with Lucius to get back at him."
"That greasy grit. How dare he call you that. Don't worry Remus we'll teach him a leason."

Severus sighed when he saw Remus whispering with the Potter Posse. "Great," he muttered to himself. "Now, they're all going to give me worse crap than usual." He stood from the table and headed to the dormitories early. He didn't want to be around anyone right now, and he had lost his appetite.

Remus watched Severus get up and leave. "No I still don't want you guys going after him. I mean what he said made me sad but I still really like him and I'm sure being with Malfoy for a bit will hurt him enough. After all there's no better way to hurt a guy then date his best friend." Remus stood up. "I'm going to go to bed early. Bye guys."
Remus left and looked around to see if he saw Severus. Maybe he had learned his lesson already. Of course if Lucius saw him talking with Severus it could be bad for him. He had already made him mad once tonight. He sighed and went out to the lake to clear his head a bit.

Severus was sitting under the very same tree Remus had been sitting under the day he lost Lily as a friend and possible girlfriend. He was watching the giant squid drift about the surface of the lake lazily, ignoring the crunching he heard slightly behind and next to him.
