I sure hope I can get my folks to tape it for me.
They have cable and they're retired.

For anyone who cares, Micky might become a more regular companion on the series. I don't know if the rumor is true, but I guess there is a picture on a British magazine cover of him holding the tardis key...

i used to watch Dr.Who, during Tom Baker's and Peter Davidson's stints, i'm sure i saw beyond those but i don't have such clear recollections of them.
Dr.Who was the last programme i could watch before bedtime, no wonder i had odd dreams as a child confused
Tom Baker was the best Doctor for me, maybe because he was the first one that i saw, Peter Davidson was a bit wet, my friend fancied him but i wasn't impressed.
I saw the majority of the last series with Christopher Eccleston, it was good, different from the others, less serious maybe, slightly irreverent, but still eminently watchable.
i expect the new series will be aired in the Autumn, with yet another new doctor(i can't remember his name) not sure what i think about him, he looks a bit poncy, but we shall see 3nodding

I think the new Doctor who season starts in the spring, but I could be wrong. I saw the Christmas Invasion special. The new doctor isn't as good as Eccleston, but he's going to be ok... His name is David Tennant.

Hey, Jelly, since your actually a Brit, you gotta keep us informed on any Dr. Who news that isn't making its way to us Yanks over here. I don't know about anyone else in this thread, but I'm always hungry for new news... 3nodding xd

I shall do my best, but you seem better informed than me at the moment!
According to my sources(Google) the new series premiers on the Sci-Fi channel in 9 days.
I'm witholding judgement on the new doctor until i've actually seen him in action, I've not seen the actor perform in anything, only in an interview with Jonathan Ross, the only impression i got is that he has too many teeth confused
i missed the Christmas show sad as it was aired on Christmas Day and i was staying with family and none of them wanted to watch it rolleyes
And, the last series was shown on Saturday at 7PM and Charmed is still on then sweatdrop

I think you can download it from the internet. That's how we get our episodes. The hubby does it using bit torrent if I'm not mistaken. So if you wanna see the Christmas Invasion, that's your best bet. smile

9 days? that's awesome. xd

I've been watching Dr Who since I was a baby (literally, mom used to watch episodes on WTTW during the nights when baby-me kept her up). I'm so happy I can finally watch the new series of it since it just came onto SciFi Channel.

Oh boy! Oh boy!

My folks taped a few of the Christopher Eccleston episodes for me and I'm gonna drop by and pick them up next weekend!

Slightly irreverent, you say? A little odd!
Why else would I WATCH a show, I ask you?

No Big Boring Corporation In Space this, I hope. I'll take weirdness and time lords over exploding parliments and screwed up versions of the "Unfaithful Liberty" speech any day. Whoopie!

Christopher Eccleston was a wonderful Doctor - having seen the Christmas Invasion, I think David Tennant will be OK, but no match for Mr E. Hope you enjoy it, Harbone! xd

Hoo yas! Thank you, alleira!

Just watched Rose and The End of the World. My sister (visiting from France) and my father taped them for me. I really liked Christopher Eccleston's interpretation of the Doctor and I was suprised by how much I liked Billy Piper. I was told the shows were a bit slow-paced, but I lived through some Troughton story-arcs that were MUCH slower than that.

In fact, they approached the manic pace of some of the Sylvester McCoy shows in spots, so I was elated.

I WAS a bit disturbed by the cold-blooded murder of the last human, but it wasn't as bad as the infamous kiss from the US version of the show. (Ick! Ptooey!) My sister says the Mr. E's portrayal of the Doctor was as a hyperkinetic alien geek and I'm afraid I agree, but I LIKE hyperkinetic geeks.

Also, they did a great job with the Autons and the Nestene Intelligence. It's even got me curious about this "War" that destroyed Gallifrey. Normally I don't really like that kind of "foreshadowing," but I think the philosophies and dreams of this version of the series more closely match my own.

And I really like the new TARDIS interior. It just says "peice of junk" to me in so many ways, while still retaining that little twinkle of wonderment.

So, just a bit uglier, just a bit nastier, but still with some of that hope and trust in the moment of life for me to like it. It didn't suck.

I'm digging Eccleston! I too like the geekiness. And I really like Rose. But it's still hard for me to get used to good special effects and props. biggrin I'm really pleased with the eppies I've seen so far. I'm actually considering buying the dvds of the season.

Yep, I have to say I like Mr E's Dr. Not too sure about Rose yet, but considering what her mother is like I'm prepared to give her the benefit of the doubt just now. Glad to see the show's retained some of it's sillliness and isn't taking itself too seriously.
