Let's see… I get to start off the new question! Yay! I improve by finishing, rereading, and then deciding that it sucks. From there, I work it until it's perfect, even when I don't know what's wrong with the fic or why I don't like it. My writing is the only thing that I'm OC about. (Why do people say OCD? I mean, I do it all the time, but really. It's just… gahh. I don't know. Sorry, too much candy and pixie stix. Ignore me.)

OCD is what we British call it xD
I also do the same as you, learning as you go along smile

To improve my writing I generally just write lots. And lots. But I do get critiques as often as possible. XP So, it's a combination of stuff really.

I will work on other projects if I feel I am being stifled by my current work (it tends to work). I try to force myself to write, and I do speak with friends about certain things to figure out what is working and what is not.
