whiporwill-o TeaDidikai whiporwill-o plus, my apartment did not allow single tennants to go to college, which i though was rather stupid, but at the same time i can see why. (and thats single as in without a roommate, not as in unmarried) I'd love to see how they could enforce that. confused Strikes as a great way to end up with a nasty discrimination suit on their hands. they were afraid that if a single tennant was a student then said tennant wouldn't be able to pay their rent and thus have to be evicted. a bit discriminatory, yes, but it seemed like a lot of the low-income rentals in the area were like that. If a single tenant looses their job, they may not be able to pay their rent and thus have to be evicted.
I'd be really interested to learn how they would be able to legally enforce their desire to see people not be students.

i honestly have no idea, i don't live around there anymore so i can't just waltz in and ask. though, considering i broke my lease with no warning and they didn't press charges, i'm not really in a position to press the matter...

My complex is the same way, actually. There's no protection for educational status -- and partially because we are so close to the university, that it'd be overrun with students. My complex is also federally subsidized for people with low incomes but who don't qualify for section 8.
Which is nice, but uh, not enjoying the recent move-ins. Way more police needing to be around than before. Makes me nervous and glad I'm moving in a few months.
In other news, moving into a house with a roommate. Going to sign the lease on Friday, with the landlords/roomies parents taking us out for dinner.
