Glad that the boy hadn't noticed his coughing, Ken was still watching his confused attempts to pinpoint the smell. Trying to think of another good idea, he decided to ask someone who would know about the boy. Calling to the bartender, he said casually, "Who's the odd fellow over there?" He jerked his thumb over his shoulder at the stranger. "Is he from around here?" He wanted to sound as if he were merely interested in the boy's eccentricities. If he gave away his motive of cat-and-mouse, he wouldn't be able to play with him anymore.

Putting the side of his index finger into his mouth, Ken smiled and looked over his shoulder at 'the Show.' The bartender's 'miss' had not gone unnoticed, but for now Ken was fine playing as 'Ai' like he often did. Turning back to the bartender, he said, "Nothing, thank you, I was only wondering about the boy." Looking over his shoulder again, Ken giggled and thought he'd wait for the bartender's back to be turned until he made his next move.

With a frown, Ken pouted. 'Why'd he have to leave? And he didn't even notice me!' Although not being noticed was the point of his little game, Ken still hated it when he was ignored. Getting up, he quickly followed the boy. Out the door and into the alley, he made sure to keep out of view until he knew where they were headed. But he didn't see the boy heading for any buildings, and wondered what he was doing.

Hearing the crying from down the halls, Kane turned around, his eyes wide with worry. "Oh no! That's Lan. Sorry Max, but I have to go check on him. Please, make yourself comfortable!" And with that he ran back down the halls all the way to Lan. Rushing to his side, Kane said through gasping, "Are you alright Lan?" He put a hand on Lan's forehead to check his temperature.

Worried about Lan's sudden sensitivity, Kane sat down next to him and held him close. "It's alright, I'm here now." He pet Lan's hair and nuzzled his forehead. "Are you alright? You really should be lying down. Kane kissed Lan on the forehead to reassure and calm him.

Kissing Lan back, Kane sighed and hugged him, careful of his wounds. "I hope you don't mind but Gatsu and a boy named Max are going to be staying with us. They helped save you, so I offered them a place to stay. it was the only way I could think of repaying them." Kane leaned back into the pillows with Lan next to him, not letting go.

Kane snuggled, nuzzling Lan's hair. "Then I'll be right here for you," he said softly. He was glad that Lan was getting better now, but he didn't want him to strain himself. He also certainly didn't want to stress him out by leaving again, so he knew he would have to stay with Lan until he was asleep. At least he had been able to show Max to his room first.

The now relieved alien brethed a sigh of relief,he was grateful he had left that stench's grasp.As he came upon his "living quarters" he plopped right down on a trash bag."It's good to be home."he muttered opening his book once again trying to become once agin engulfed in fantasy.He hadn't even noticed a stranger following him nor did he hear anything.He was too focused on that book of his that deterred him from his studies.He propped his back against the dumpster's side his body was facing the street,so nothing in the back of him was visible.He had a sturdy cardboard box on the other side of the dumpster.His pants,socks,and shirts, hung on a clothes line that suspended only inches from his head.He flipped a page in the book intentively,all noises and surroundings where completely blocked out.
