Then pity him. He shall never truly be able to appreciate the good in life, since he shall never know the bad. He shall never be able to grow, for it is through hardship and suffering that we become stronger. He will remain an emotional vegetable, and that is a horrible fate.

This is exactly what I said to him. He still doesn't understand/willfully ignorant/or what have you.

I really appreciate your feedback... it's great to know that I'm not alone on this one. Almost all of the spiritual people I'm surrounded with IRL nowadays are new-agers and other anti-suffering-ers, and I just don't understand why they are so afraid of it/hate it.

I told him that I had dysmenorrhea, which is a menstrual disorder that basically turns one day per month into a living hell. Extreme vertigo/passing out, can't even keep water down the nausea is so bad, severe cramping, runny poos, etc. I could take birth control to help regulate it, but I choose not to. Because every time I come out stronger and with a greater understanding of the world around me. I live a really, really charmed life so this is my means to bring me down to earth. It's one thing to understand the necessity of suffering intellectually, and another to experience it. My disorder is my experience of suffering, and I love it in that it teaches me so much... more than I can put into words.

He looked at me like I was NUTS.

I have a polarity-loving, suffering-is-necessary cosmology, so no wonder we don't understand each other.
Suffering builds character. Plenty of seekers from a variety of faiths go through willfull suffering in order to learn. Fasting, going on a tough pilgrimage, some even sticking sharp objects into them. You have the gift of turning what some would call a curse and made it into a blessing. That's really amazing.

I just got a bunch of new Healthy Choice meals because I'm lazy and don't want to make food all the time. I thought they were awesome because they were pasta, and they didn't contain any meat. Until I found out that half of them contain chicken, chicken fat, and gelatin.

Why can't you just put "chicken" on the package so I can avoid it?

I thought "chicken" was one of those things they'd want to put on the package, because people want to buy things with meat in them.

At least I know what not to get next time.

It does try my knowledge a bit, but like Poe said, I'll probably learn more by doing that than just lurking.

Experiment! Question things! Have fun! It's the internet! No one can stab you through a computer!

Well yet, anyways. XD

I mixed up that sentence so it read "I know what a barely legal druid is." Which would've added a whole other issue to the conversation.

Just thought you should know.

It's a happy day everywhere it would seem.

In other news- apparently expecting people to work, rather than sitting on their asses is a bad thing and how dare I attempt to ensure that I wouldn't burn myself out by asking my teammates for help.

And a new very culturally insensitive and highly illegal pornographic movie is born.

Nope. People suck like that. crying I've been reading ingredient labels since I was a kid.

I'm terrified that if he keeps forgiving me I'm never going to learn how not to hurt him.
Which sucks for a variety of reasons, the most blatant of which is that my base instinct (running away when I'm upset/hurt) seems to hurt him.

Suffering builds character.

Can. Can build character. Sometimes, it just wears away at a person until they can't handle it anymore.

Dear loving boss,
Perhaps it'll be helpful if you actually look at the previous week's schedule before making the new week's schedule. Some of us don't appreciate being scheduled for 6 days in a row. And no, we don't give two shits if it is on two different pay weeks. In the real ******** world, it's still 6 days in a row and still very much a pain in the a**.

Tagra: I have to agree there sweatdrop .
