My sister did a complete career change when she was oh, 38? 39? Something like that...got out of computers and went back to school to become an RN. She went through a program that was specifically designed for returning students and said she liked it a lot.

She walked out of that program and into 3 job offers smile . And the funny thing is that she still likes it.

A few years ago I did that in reverse. I was already an LPN and had gotten fed up or burnt out, whatever. I went back to school and for about 5 years did the whole computer thing. Now I am back to nursing. I think it is a little more rewarding, but I do try to keep up with the computer stuff too. Not that easy. I want to get it where I can combine both but....*sigh* I am jut a lowly peon and no one listens to my ideas.

Well I got a house update today...

User Image

We still have no buyer for this house and I am beyond scared. I was excited to see the picture, yet without a buyer for this house I am worried that we will lose that house.

Crap. I know what you mean there. At the Department of Human Resources they were always telling us "You know, tomorrow you could be on the Other Side of That Desk. You're Only One Step Away From Those People." We already KNEW that.

Do they do that in nursing: "Tomorrow, you might be the person with the catheter" or "You might be taking the medicine tomorrow, not helping to manage the illness?"

Well, since I work in the geriatric field of "Nursing Home"....yes. We hear that all the time. LOL

I'm going to try to trust that something will work out with the house junk and just deal with boxing all our stuff up.

I really hate moving... but the plan is that this will be the last move... at least until we can no longer take care of the house because of old age... in our case, a few more years blaugh

Lil Jo your house look beautiful... it's so huge.

I know how you feel as each day ticks down and no buyer. My previous house sat on the market for 10 months and as we got closer to the closing on the new house we were in a panic. Buyers kept telling us we were too high, the roof looked old, the fixtures needed updating, the carpet looked worn, etc. just the little things that make you want to say "well, those are things you get to fix". Finally, as we got down to a month before the closing we were forced to lower the price, and throw in 6K credit to the buyer. It was the only way we could sell the house although we didn't get what we wanted we did make enough to move on. You may need to look at incentives that will draw a buyer in and make it easy for the buyer to close the deal. It's not the best solution and it puts the power of the sell into the buyer's hands but when it comes to crunch time somtimes as the seller you have to give in. I will be praying for a buyer for you.

Sending best wishes and special thoughts your way, Lil_Jo... my co-worker just went through the selling nitemare... seems like her real-estate agent was more on the side of the buyers than hers... stare

My parents went through something like that back in the '80's. Dad wanted to retire to the mountains & they found a cabin shell on a wooded mountainside in western NC. They gradually worked on it for years finishing it out themselves (Dad knows how to do carpentry, put in electrical wiring, plumbing...he did virtually everything himself) and then packed up, moved everything to NC & sold the house in IN after he retired at 55. We didn't live in the greatest area in IN (railroad track directly behind our property), but they got enough out of it to get themselves out of debt at last. They're still tucked in that wooded hollow in the house they made for themselves to this day. smile

Well, we are about a month away from the closing on the new house. Thomas talked to a home buyer that will come out on Monday to see what he will offer us. At this point I will be happy with any offer as long as we can pay off our mortgage and have enough to give to the movers.

House talk... oh lord I can't escape it! My father is a Realtor
and he has me do small works for him here and there, such
as typing out copies of informational forms for the others in his office.

Anyways Lil-Jo, best of luck! I know just how stressful that can be
all around and I hope the right buyer comes along for you guys ^_^

Well, the home buyer did not pan out.. he offered us $35,000 less than what we owe...

Think we are screwed
