The flow of blood had slowed from Lan's back, and along with it, his heartbeat and his breath. His eyes fluttered open slowly, using all of his strength to slowly move his hand to lightly hold Kane's. The neko's vision was foggy but he could see Kane's crying face and he started to tear himself again. "K-kane....Y-you d-don't have to b-be afraid anymore....I..I love you...." he said in barely more than a whisper.

Max found himself staring up at the old building. It didn't seem like anyone had been in there for a very long time. Max was about to start talking to the bird when a frightened mouse came bolting from the building. It ran up to Max, franticly squeaking. 'In there! Blood! All over!' Mice aren't very smart, and aren't very good companions, but anything was better than people, right? Max picked up the crimson covered mouse. "Calm down." He said in a southing voice. He could tell, as soon as he picked up the mouse, that the blood wasn't of a mouse, or any other animal. It smelled like human blood. He didn't want to go inside now, but someone was loosing a lot of blood, he could tell by the fact the the mouse was covered in the blood. Mice don't go around humans and especially their blood if they don't have to. "Show me where." He said to the mouse in very disgusted voice as he set the mouse down. It scampered off, and he followed. "Looks like we are in for a little fun here." He commented to the black bird.

Kasa grunted and walked over to the boy. "Well then, let's be going. If he's going to bleed to death we may as well be there to tell Kane that he's dead."
...
Kane softly stroked Lan's cheek with the back of his hand. "Lan, please rest. Gatsu went to get Kasa. They'll be here soon, and Kasa will be able to help you." Even as he said it, Kane was holding back a flod of sobs and worry. He did know if Kasa would really be able to help Lan after he had lost this much blood, but he didn't want to think about what would happen if she really couldn't.

The crimson covered mouse stopped and began to squeak one more. 'There in there. I don't wanna go back!' With that it bolted back the way it came. Mice weren't his favorite animal. Not intelligent enough. They could survive, but that was just about it. Max sighed and looked up over at the bird who was still on his shoulder. "Well, here goes." He walked into the room, and saw the two boys. One had blood dripping down his back, and the other was covered in the others blood. There was so much blood around the place, that he was surprised the one who was bleeding was still alive.

"Alright, let's just hurry," Kasa shuffles along in a hurry. When the reached the boys' room, they found another boy standing in the doorway with a bird. "You! Lad with the bird! Be of some use or get out of my way! If you're going to hang around at least go get some water!" Kasa had no problem giving orders to people she didn't even know as long as she was their senior. When she got over to Kane and Lan, she gave a sour grimace. "Well well, why am I not suprised? Are you two nothing but trouble?" With that she took a large cloth from her bag and started ripping it into bandages.
Kane laid Lan on his stomach so that Kasa could take care of his injuries. "Thank you so much, Kasa, I swear I'll make this up to you." Holding Lan's hand he smiled through his tears and said, "Don't worry Lan; now that Kasa's here you'll be better in no time."
"Don't be so cocky. I'm not a miracle worker," Kasa grumbled despite Kane's hurt and angry looks.

"It looks like we aren't wanted here." Max said to the black bird on his shoulder. He turned around as the other boy walked passed him. He paused as the bird made a comment to him. 'I know you don't like people, but this one is dieing. Just once?' Max sighed. The bird was right. He didn't like people, but what had they done to him yet. He would give them a chance. "One chance, and that is it." He turned around and walked back into the room. "Where is the water?" He gritted his teeth as he asked. He saw a water bucket near the corner of the room and went and picked it up. With a sigh, he waited for the other to tell him where the water was.

"Thank you, young man, you're very kind," Kasa said in an unusually kind and gentle tone to the new boy with the bucket and bird, "it's probably right outside. There should be a faucet on the outside of the building that's ment for a hose. I doubt there's one on it, so you can probably use that." Looking over to Gatsu as she continued to work, she said in her normal tone, "That would help. Let's see...something dark. Fir, pine, or some type of wild spinach. And mint. If he dies from pain before he dies from blood loss it'll be just as bad." Although she was old, Kasa's hands ere quick to make temporary bandages for Lan until she got the water and herbs from the other two.
"Thank you Kasa," Kane said, "I wish there was something I could do. But I can't leave Lan," he said looking at his lover with watery eyes.
"I know dear," Kasa said without looking up. "I know."

Max sighed as he walked to through the house, and to the outside. "I can't believe that I am doing this" He commented to the bird as he spotted the facet. 'It is good to do things for others.' "But I don't like people, That is why I hang out with you and the other animals. They are more noble and aren't vicious." He said over the running of the water. 'Again, they have done nothing to you.' "Alright. But I am not staying her long. I can't stand the smell of humans and their blood." The bucket was full, and he turned off the water. He walked back as the bird picked under her wing. He walked back through the Oprah house, and found the room once more. He walked in, and placed the bucket next to the boys, and that doctor. He sighed and walked to the edge of the room, and leaned against the wall, where the stench of the humans was less. "They smell horrid." He commented to the bird, who was still grooming.

"Come now, do you really think so?" Kasa said to the young boy's comment without even looking up from her work as she washed Lan's wounds with the water. She then rubbed some of the pasty herbs into Lan's wounds. "Then I must let you know; you're far to sensitive. In this world you're going to have to get used to the stenches and horrors of humans if you wish to survive. I'm not saying you're a wuss, you're no coward," she admitted, "but you tend to complain a bit too much when there's really nothing worth complaining about. Are you sick, injured, starving, in pain, or grieving? Come back when you're a bit more seasoned and then someone just might give you an ear and a hand." When Kasa finished with the herbs, she took a sewing needle and thread out of her bag. "You're lucky, boy," the old woman grunted to the unconcious trouble-maker, "if I didn't happen to have this thread with me I'd have to use normal string, and that wouldn't heal anywhere near as cleanly. You see," she said, leaning her head slighty in Gatsu's direction as if she were speaking to him, "this string is made of dried sheep's stomch. Once the wound heals it will become part of the skin, and be completely invisible."
"Kasa, please don't talk about hings like that right now. I'm trying not to be sick." Kane was miserable and tired, but he could not rest until Lan was better.

"Thanks, I'll keep that in mind." He said to the woman. He really wasn't enjoying himself, why was he even here? He huffed as the bird finished grooming, and looked over to the people. "And I wasn't talking to you, I was talking to her." He added. "It is quite rude to eves drop on someone else's conversation." He huffed. This was why he liked animals better. "And I can survive fine without you humans. The only company I need are animals. I have been doing it for longer than you can know." He could care less if the boy survived or not, but for now it was something interesting to do.

Kasa chuckled sourly a bit at the boy's answer. "Well, you were speaking so loudly, I thought you might be addressing the whole room! And it would have been awkward and rude for nobody to answer. "I'm amazed you have lasted so long. With that attitude of yours it's a wonder you haven't been killed out of revenge for insult." When she had finished, Kansa said, "And that's that." Carefully putting a loose shirt on Lan, she turned him on to his back as gently as she could.
Kane sat down next to Lan. He knew it would be a tough road to recovery for Lan, but he was willing to stay with him the whole way through. "Thank you Kasa." Kane got up and gave Kasa a hug. "And thank you too Gatsu," he said with another hug.
As Kasa was walking out the door, she passed close to the boy with the bird and whispered in his ear, "Either way, I know you understand what love is," and with that she was gone.
