Lan held his sword out, blocking Fate from getting to Kane. He growled and his hair dropped in front of his face, covering his now red eyes from view. Fate could see the slight pulses of energy coming from his eyes. "And what makes you think I'm going to let you take his wings?"

Fate frowned at Lan. "I told you not to interfere. They have to come off. He's a fallen angel, they aren't ment to have the privalage of wings! That's why they have no wings in the first place! They have so sinned that they are no longer worthy!" Fate kneew her arguements were falling on deaf ears, but it would be too quick to just try and force him out of the way. Besides, she was tired and a little lazy.
"Lan," Kane said quietly, half in awe of his courage and half in an attept to reason with him. "Even if you do keep Fate from taking my wings, what will happen when heaven finds out? Every time one of their messengers fail, thay'll just send another one. Please," he said with tears in the corners of his eyes, "let's just get this over with so that no one has to get hurt." 'I don't want them sending an army after Lan. With our luck they would find reason enough to kill him. And being the angel of death can't protect him from the torture of Hell. Not even the mighty Lucifer was immune to that horror...' "Let her take my wings, Lan." Kane said sadly. "They are beautiful, but they aren't worth getting yourself killed over. I can live without wings," he said with the faintest hint of a smile. "I can't live without you."

Lan looked back at Kane with tears in his eyes. "I-I can't let her do that" he said fervently before turning back to face Fate. He swallowed and looked at her. "T-take my wings instead..."

"Hmmm..." Fate contemplated, "an interesting offer, but I'm affraid it's no deal. Fallen angels have to repent for their own sins. I'm afraid you can't do that for him." Looking Lan straight in ther eye, Fate said, "I don't want to have to hurt you. You have put on a good show for me in my mirror, and I don't want to ruin that. It helps me when I get bored," she added thoughtlessly. "Kane has to pay. If I can't take his wings, I have to banish him to Hell. It's your choice what happens."

"What sin has he committed?" lan asked as he faced Fate with more tears in his eyes. "Let me.....Let me make this sacrifice....Can heaven recognize recognize that act of love?" HIs tears broke down, not for himself, but his concern and love for Kane.

Gatsu wondered how love could be so strong for another person, why couldnt they just let the good pair be alone to be with each other as long as they lived? gatsu sigh and keept an eye on them

"For one thing," Fate began, "he hasn't exactly been 'pure,' and you know that. Secondly, he loved you and countless other men. Another abombination before Heaven. Most importantly, he did all of the above without once asking God for forgiveness. He did these horrid acts without any remorse!" Fate finished her explination forcefully.
When Kane heard Lan's heartfelt offer, he reached over and put a hand on Lan's shoulder. "Lan," he said sadly, "I don't want you to suffer for my mistakes. Please, you have be well so you can take care of me after she rips off my wings." Kane gave him a weak smile in an attept to console him. Perhaps Lan would step down if he knew what his responsibility to Kane was.
"It's a nice gesture," Fate said with a smirk, "but no dice. Like I said, one cannot repent for another's sins. Now step aside before I pry you apart."
((Phew. Lan's really gonna kill her after this, isn't he?))

Lan shook his head and refused. He thought about what to do and suddenly knew how to get to Fate. "Do you realize what you are passing up? Think about what it could do for your reputation if it is known that you were the one who took Death's wings. Plus Kane can't use his." he explained this and smirked at Fate.

Fate liked the sound of Lan's offer. "But what do you mean, 'Kane can't use his'? Don't they work? Or are they just for show? If they're only for show and don't actually have any powers to offer, then he's not technically breaking any rules. It's against the rules for fallen angels to gain the powers of angels. No one ever said they couldn't grow some wings with no real powers." Fate smirked at her own genius. 'Loopholes!' "And sense this whole trip was provoked by his wings and not his past transgressions, then I can't technically hold anything against him. Considering he broke no rules I shouldn't even have been aloowed to come here like this. So, you let me take your wings," Fate said to Lan with a smirk, "and we all part happy."

Lan smiled as he hear Fate's words. He turned and crouched down beside Kane, gently rubbing his wings and holding his face. "You don't have any powers....But you'll fly for both of us my little bird..." he said before kissing Kane and looking back at his wings. He faced Fate and turned to the side, holding out his wings. "I-I do this for love....take them, I'm ready" he said as he gripped Kane's hand.

Tears were flowing uninhibited down Kane's face. He closed his eyes because he could not bare to see Lan get hurt.
"Perfect," Fate said with a grin. She glowed blue and tripled her size before grabbing Lan around the waist with one hand. With her other hand she pinched his wings with just two fingers and gave them a forceful yank.

Lan screamed as Fate pulled on his wings. At first the bones snapped, but Fate continued to pull and the skin broke as Lan's wings were literally torn from his back. Blood spurted from his back and he cried, screaming out his heart as the tears flowed down his face. He squeezed Kane's hand tight as Fate threw down his wings. Lan kept screaming and crying.

"No!" Kane screamed, his eyes still closed tight. As Fate dropped Lan and gathered his wings in her arms, Kane pulled Lan close to him on the bed. "Lan, Lan! Are you alright? Can you hear me?" Kane craddled Lan, rocking him back and forth. "Oh Lan, you shouldn't have done that! Lan, please, tell me you're alright. Please..." Kane could not control himself. He was too wrapped up in Lan's pain. He could not believe he had let Lan sacrifice himself like that. "Lan, please..."
Smiling happily as she looked over Lan's wings, Fate disappeared into a bright light without another word.

Lan cried and moaned, crying out at some points as he was rocked back and forth by Kane. The blood poured down his back and he sobbed into Kane's shoulder. "K-kane.." he choked out. "I-it hurts...it hurts so bad.." he whimpered as he cried into his lover's chest.

"I know Lan, I know. I feel it too." Kane felt as though Fate had ripped his heart out as well. His chest was tight and hurt badly. "Lan...I don't know what to do. Is ther anything I can do? Is there a way for me to help you?" Kane wanted so badly to relieve Lan's pain, but he felt rather helpless. He had no healing powers or knowledge of medicine, and ther was no way he'd be able to get Lan to a hospital or Kasa. He would also never leave Lan's side, even to get help, so long as he was in pain and so vulnerable.
