Lt. Brookman
Reading through Wulfrik now, it's C.L. Werner at his best and that's saying something. For those curious, one fellow forum member described it as being along the same vein as Robert E. Howard's Conan. Yes, he Wulfrik is a bad guy, but a cool one. The insults he spouts at his foes are in some cases most entertaining. Asking a Bull Centaur which of his parents shagged a pig comes to mind.
he's sad about the ending tho.

Weird thing is that after the Mathias Thulmaan trilogy the only Warhammer Fantasy books I've been reading are the Sundering Trilogy. I guess I should start buying more. I finished Bloodborn and I also read Island of Blood, but thats about it.

When I finish Shadow Prince, I'll have to try something new.

Fantasy novels somehow feel even more depressing and cold than their 40k counter-parts. The Times of Legend series are good so far, worth picking up.

A good fantasy novel is Reiksguard, a bit dark, bit still great. Or the Genevieve Undead novels, good stuff right there, it even has a happy ending. Brunner the Bounty Hunter is dark, but well-written and has some great moments.

Regarding Wulfrik: it is a good novel, you can see it as a prequel to the character found in the army book. The ending is horrible to some, but other than that a great novel. Who can't say no to a steam-power armoured Chaos Dwarf?

Well I was right about the authors coming to Black Library Live, Dan Abnett, Graham Mcneill and Sandy Mitchell have all been confirmed to be attending as well as Neil Roberts. I'm guessing Dan and Graham will be talking about Thousand Sons and Prospero Burns.

@Lt. Brookman: I never read Reiksguard, but I own the next two books, Call to Arms and Iron Company. They are quite good, particularly the latter and its journal entries and letters at the start of some chapters. Gory glory to the artillery-men!

The next one I got was Sword of Justice. The characters ooze personality and the atmosphere's glorious.

Iron Company is pretty run of the mill and a tad too predictable to my tastes. I found Reikguard far more enjoyable, as was Sword of Justice. I can't wait for the sequel Sword of Vengeance to arrive. I still need to read Call to Arms and Grimblades, along with a small pile of other novels that I've hoarded for when I'm either sick or to restless to sleep.

Right now I'm reading Dead Men Walking and s**t s**t s**t, it is a rather depressing read. Also, for a book about the Death Korps there is an awful lack of you know, the Death Korps so far. Sure they get mentioned and have a few moments, but for the most part it's about the local schlubs, not cool.

After that, I don't know. Maybe I'll revisit Ravenor or try to finally read Pawns of Chaos, a novel I've never read even after owning it for nine years. gonk

It is the cannon fodder army, so obviously it would be depressing.

I'm still waiting for the next GK book...
Besides from that, First Heretic, any reviews or thoughs?
