  • Kairi? A small misty cloud of heat left plump, parted lips as the sleeping female was roused from her sleep. How many hours had it taken for her to relinquish her power to the fearsome cold of the desert and allow her body to succumb to exhaustion? Too many for her to be awoken by none other than a male's voice. Noticing this, and out of pure annoyance, Kaira would kick a long, slender leg into the air towards the beast that had dare wake her and roughly pulled the warm blankets over her head.

" Leave me the hell alone! " She had shouted it, but from beneath the cozy bundle it'd sound like a muted cry of frustration. Kairi tried to lull herself back into sleep, but knowing that the two men were both awake gnawed at her sense of comfort. " Damnit, damnit, damnitttttt! " she muttered as she smacked the ground with her hand. She closed her eyes shut with all her might before throwing the entire blanket off of herself and onto the unsuspecting Makoto.

She threw herself out of bed and was immediately lashed by the brisk air, like a whip against her soft, warm skin. She poked her finger into Szen's chest and mustered up the most threatening glare she had. " It's just like you to wake me up when you know I've barely had any sleep to begin with, you traitorous snake! " She hissed at him before turning up her chin at him and walking away to comb her fingers through her messy bed head.

                                                    • Makoto's sudden movement drew copper hues as Szen inclined towards the supposed boy. He received the hiss of a warning as the snake's little head emerged from the warmth of its shelter. Makoto had delicate features for a boy, thought Szen as he silently considered his companion's soft raven tresses and doe-eyed gaze. His voice too was a bit on the tender side even with the depth of tone that Makoto emphasized. Szen had always felt fairly confused regarding the boy's.. or girl's gender, but that never got in the way of their rapport or friendship.

"W-what is our next destination?" "Good morning, Makoto," the boy should've known that Szen's voice was too amiable to promise any pleasant tidings, "I'll tell you after you pack up." He didn't even hesitate to rip the blanket off of the lad's cold bones before proceeding to fold it for him.

Szen stood to his feet when Kairi finally stirred as well. She didn't hiss at him as Makoto had, but drew the travel cloths further over her own head like a caterpillar all snuggled up within its cocoon. Then suddenly, the butterfly broke free of its vessel with an abrupt kick aimed at Szen. His eyes followed the blind strike as it swept across the area near to his groin. He was thankful that she couldn't appropriately see and thus mark her target. Still, she'd been close.

Another blanket fell to take the place of the one Szen had stolen off of Makoto as wrath rose Kairi to her feet. She cursed so loudly that Szen heard nearby flock of birds flap their wings to fly from the disquieted scene. Meanwhile, Kairi flew at him. She glared, rose red hues ablaze with emotion as a finger flew at Szen's bared breast. The fine fingertip was met with powerful fibers of honed muscle, though it did not stop her from trying to penetrate them. She probably wanted to see him bleed for waking her so early, didn't she? Szen didn't care.

His eyes actually smirked for him as the force of her prodding pushed him back only just. "It's just like you to wake me up when you know I've barely had any sleep to begin with, you traitorous sna━" Kairi couldn't finish for Szen's arm snapped around her turning head to cover her lips with a grip akin to a viper's. "Shh... hear that?" he muttered, securing her momentarily as he angled an ear to their surroundings.

Between the breaks of whistling winds and sounds of distant waterfalls, he heard another noise that was separate from the harmony of nature. His hand peeled away from her mouth as he carefully released Kairi, making certain she'd calmed down. His eyes beckoned his companions to tacitly gather themselves and follow him to where the sounds of men grew forte. They swept through the misty glade until the voices grew apparent and discernible. Szen peeked his head out from around the wide trunk of a hulking pine to get a better view of their unexpected company. A group of geared up travelers appeared to be lazing around a dwindling campfire, talking among themselves, conversing about some foul development.

One man blubbered in a voice deep and unrefined, "So he says to the leader, hand over half of your goods from now on, or you'll never see yer daughter again. Funny part is that the chief never planned to give 'er back at all! She's a pretty little thing, and you know that the boss always hoards whatever 'e likes. He'll have the whole lot of them soon, and burn down their town, if they don't give 'im what he wants." "━I told him we should share the girl, like we do with everything else!" "And that's why he cut yo damn thumb off, Sumiyoshi, and ya still never learn ahahaha!" the former fellow slapped his companion's back so hard that he spilled the bowl of cold stew all over another one, effectively starting a fight.

Szen motioned towards Kairi and Makoto to retreat.

                                                                  • The inquisitive gaze of Szen's golden eyes made Mikoto uneasy. The masked man seemed to always know more than he let on, and sometimes Mikoto almost thought he saw through her disguise. But if he had, he would have said something, wouldn't he? And Mikoto had been so careful to keep her identity a secret! Surely she was still safe. She sure hoped so, at any rate. The man wasted no time in unceremoniously snatching away the blankets, robbing Mikoto of the last bits of warmth in this cold, unforgiving climate. Before she could start a fuss over the fact that he was basically condemning her to death by hypothermia, another blanket smacked her in the face - a sign that Kairi had woken up. The ravenette was just as irritated as Mikoto at being woken up in such a brutish manner, although her way of showing her displeasure was much more open. Yet it was cut off just as quickly as it had started - by Szen.

Mikoto knew better than to speak the questions in her mind. Instead, she pressed her lips together and stealthily crept after Szen, until a group of men came into view. They were too numerous and too well-armed to fight, but they also did not seem to notice the sneaky group yet. The latter fact was something Mikoto was eternally grateful for.

The words they overheard made Mikoto frown, and she instinctively leaned closer as she listened, a hand on the kunai in her shin pouch just in case. Did he just say they kidnapped someone? Mikoto's frown deepened. Back when she was a shinobi of the Hidden Sand, this kind of whisper would guarantee a swift and decisive response. But she was not that anymore. And she was alone. Well... Not entirely. She glanced back at Szen and Kairi, both still and silent in deep concentration. They were not quite the same as the Genin squad that she once called her friends, but they would do.

Szen gestured them to fall back, but Mikoto ignored him, instead crouching lower and sneaking forward some more. Her small stature and lean frame made it easier for her to blend into the foliage, especially when her movements were effectively masked by the brawl breaking out among the men.

"Should we stop these fools before they kill each-other?" A woman asked a nearby companion, twirling a blade in her hand. Her head was pointed away from Mikoto's crouched shape, her attention occupied by the fight nearby.

The other woman shrugged. "Nah. If they die, that's more goods for us! Boss sure knows how to pick 'em. With all that's been going on recently, no one will notice us pickin' off some insignificant little town in the middle of nowhere. And who are they going to call for help? Everyone that ever mattered is too busy fightin' or somethin'. It's like they're asking us to come take their goodies."

Both women laughed, and carried on with some idle conversation.

Mikoto crept away before she could be noticed, and circled around through the trees to make sure she was not followed. Once certain of a lacking pursuit, she returned to her companions. "That was certainly an interesting development." Mikoto commented, plucking leaves out of her hair. "We need to find out where it is they are conducting their business. It can't be far, or they would not be idling abound here." She frowned. "The thought of a young maiden in the hands of those barbarians is highly disconcerting."

                                                                                                ▇ ▇ ▇ ▇ ◟* MIKOTO ❛UKITAKE — ❞

  • Before Kaira could begin her morning rituals, Szen had covered her mouth and drawn her close to himself. She could hear the somewhat calming rhythmic beating of his hearts within his chest as she clasped at his hands and furrowed her brows. She didn't care who was nearby, he had no right to touch her like that! Yet, she still perked her ears to try and catch wind of whatever it was that the male had heard. When she stopped struggling, was when Szen finally released her. She wiped a palm across her lips as if to rid of any metaphorical "residue" his male presence had left behind.

She quickly caught on to Szen's signals and followed him to where the sound of people could be heard. At first, it was merely two men. "So he says to the leader, hand over half of your goods from now on, or you'll never see yer daughter again. Funny part is that the chief never planned to give 'er back at all! She's a pretty little thing, and you know that the boss always hoards whatever 'e likes. He'll have the whole lot of them soon, and burn down their town, if they don't give 'im what he wants." Kairi balled her fists in anger, ready to punch someone in the face at a moments notice.

Then, it was two women that they overheard. It's like they're asking us to come take their goodies." At this point, Kairi's nails were digging into her skin, leaving small triangular marks there.

Kairi turned to take another peek at a final pair, a male and a woman speaking. "Will you steal some pretty jewelry for me from some ugly hag when we force ourselves into that stupid little town? I want every shiny object we can find," the thin woman beckoned to the man. "No problem, once we infiltrate their town I'll steal anything you want. I doubt there'll be anything worthy of ya', but we'll break everything in their town until we find something. Then we'll burn down the remains. In fact, we can make an ugly girl your slave so you can treat her like the filth that she is coming from a shitty, small town like this. The boss is going to make sure we strike big on this deal." At that the woman cackled in such a way that'd make your skin crawl.

Kairi took the chance to retreat unnoticed with both Szen and Makoto. Although normally more soft spoken, it was Makoto who spoke first. Kairi nodded and then slammed her fist into the open palm of her left hand. " It's just like some b*****d to try and steal the leader's daughter like that. Liars, thieves, scoundrels, cowards - the whole lot of them. You can never trust a man - and even the women were heartless. " she spat in obvious disgust. " We should also try to find the leader and let him know before they have a chance to infiltrate the town. "

                                                    • Of course Makoto would be the one to disregard his admonition. Szen blinked in astonishment as the boy wiggled his way into a brush, keeping low to the dewy forest floor while nearing the squabbling men. He blinked in wonderment again as he found himself observing the moving shape of his companion's effeminate hips. Again, it bothered his mind to believe that Makoto was not a girl.. so Szen shook his head free of the prodding doubt and slipped back into the mist behind themselves.

Eventually when they were far enough away from the bad men, Szen turned toward his companions, a look of unease painted across his gaze. Arms naturally folded over his chest as he bid them to speak their thoughts on what they'd heard and saw, "What do you think about that?" he uttered in a low, troubled tone. His eyes went from Kairi to settle on Makoto, gaze turning to a glare. Surely the boy would feel a weight on him should he turn to note Szen's disappointed look. Sometimes he worried Szen more than Kairi's explosive outbursts.

Makoto was the first to speak his mind. "We need to find out where it is they are conducting their business. It can't be far, or they would not be idling abound here." Kairi had some choice words to offer on the matter. "It's just like some b*****d to try and steal the leader's daughter like that. Liars, thieves, scoundrels, cowards - the whole lot of them. You can never trust a man - and even the women were heartless. We should also try to find the leader and let him know before they have a chance to infiltrate the town."

Szen nodded deliberately, "I agree. Let's make haste. Once we find the village they talked of, maybe the town leader can offer up some more insight on the affair, and we can help rescue his daughter. Don't think it'd be wise to waltz back into that camp and take them all on anyways.." With that, they were off.

Combing the breadth of these lands, the group finally stumbled upon a small albeit sizable town. It was quaint, surrounded by modest wooden fences that were tree trunks of various sizes, buried in the earth. As they strolled in, a certain queerness gripped at Szen's gut. It was absolutely devoid of sound. Utterly silent and seemingly isolated. The only thing he'd heard as they'd neared its perimeter had been the slam of a few doors and shutters.

He turned to speak over his shoulder toward his traveling companions, "...this might be the place, I think these people are hiding for a reason. Something must've happened to them recently. Either that or they're just unwelcoming of visitors, though I doubt that's the case━" his voice trailed as he studied the stands set up along the town's main street. The path was flatly paved and stones of various shapes and sizes riddled across the dirt ground. It looked as if quite a few merchants resided in these parts. Perhaps that's why the town had become a target for greed.

Near the town's center, off to the side, a little ways down an offshoot of the main street, stood a rather large building. It was made of wood as the others, but appeared more decorated or well-made, sturdy and tall. Szen climbed the steps to its entrance, hoping that this was where the town's leader dwelt, or at least performed business. One of the two main doors was open a crack, letting light seep into the dim dwelling. "Hello?" Szen called out, knocking on the closed, other door. He didn't have to knock hard either for the sound of his fist on dense timber echoed loudly throughout the reticent area.

A groan came from inside, followed by ugly weeping, before a man swiftly and suddenly burst through the front doors, nearly knocking Szen aside and falling on Makoto. Endless tears welled up in his eyes as he blindly reached out, prostrating himself before the girl and her fellow wanderers. "I'm so sorry! I'll give you anything you want, medicine, clothing, iron, just please━please! Give me back my daughter, I can't lead nor live not knowing she's alright, not having her home.. I cannot bear this any longer, give her back to me...." he blubbered until his voice died down as if he'd given up on living, if he could not see his girl again.

                                                                  • Mikoto pointedly ignored Szen’s look of parental disapproval and the way he crossed his arms over his chest. Never mind the fact that it made her miss - just the tiniest bit - the family she had left behind. Had her father even noticed she had not returned yet? The letter that Szen and Kairi delivered was weeks old now, and yet she still refused to read beyond the first few lines. Not for the lack of trying, mind you. But every time she tried, something gripped her at the very core and she could not catch a breath. Perhaps some bridges are better off left burned.

In any case, it seems they were in consensus. If ever there was a time for Mikoto to think she was correct in her choice of companions, it was then, as she looked up at Szen’s furrowed brows and the outrage in Kairi’s eyes. Only good people reacted with such fervor to the suffering of others. When the older pair turned away and headed out, Mikoto allowed a small smile to cross her features, a tiny bubble of pride swelling up inside. Suna may have been no more, but her shinobi were still doing good. Or trying to anyways. Admittedly, most of the time Mikoto found herself shoved behind Szen whenever trouble so much as winked in their direction, but maybe that was for the best. She wasn’t the strongest when it came to a physical fight, not when her competition was a tall man with self-aware tentacles and a lady with magical eyes. If she could manage to learn some medical jutsu though, and perfect her puppetry… She could really make a difference. Or so was the hope. She couldn’t remain a burden forever, could she? A part of her was eager to prove herself, to show that she wasn’t just there to bandage them after a squabble.

They set forth, each covering their own stretch of ground while maintaining visuals on each-other - although on more than one occasion Mikoto’s curious nature propelled her further and farther, an act that earned her a pointed look from Szen every time she returned to where he could see her. On one such occasion, she climbed a tree to a height that would surely kill her if she fell - and when she jumped down at last, she was far too enthused by what she found to even notice the exasperation in Szen’s eyes or the annoyance in Kairi’s. “There’s a village up ahead!” Mikoto exclaimed, her enthusiasm making her usually dark eyes look brighter. “This way, come on!” Small hands wrapped around both her teammates’ wrists, dragging them forward with a surprising amount of strength for someone so young and inexperienced. If either of the two had anything against being pulled in such a way, their complaints fell on deaf ears until at last they neared the edge of the small, lonely village she had spotted form up above.

Szen’s look of unease was mirrored by Mikoto’s face all too soon and she shivered despite no longer being cold. There was a strange kind of atmosphere here, a dark and depressing gloom that seemed to cover the village like a thick blanket. Mikoto was all too painfully reminded of Sunagakure in the aftermath of the war - a dusty skeleton, abandoned by its people and pecked clean of whatever remained behind by scavengers and thieves.

Out of the corner of her eyes, Mikoto spotted movement in one of the windows. She caught the pale face of a little girl hugging a stuffed bear as she turned, but as the purple-haired wanderer lifted her hand to wave, a small but hopeful smile forming on her lips, the shutters slammed closed with a distinctive sound. Mikoto dropped her hand.
Their steps echoed as they walked through the deserted town streets. Or maybe that was Mikoto’s imagination, her memories surfacing once more to haunt her waking moments as well as her dreams. She shivered again, and pulled the jacket on her shoulders closer to her body. It would not keep out the chill, she was fully aware of it, but the action was more a defensive mechanism against bad memories than anything. The scars of war were deep and harsh indeed.

“Maybe we should try another way,” Mikoto began to say as Szen moved to knock on the door of a large, creepy-looking house. The kind of house that could swallow a person whole in a way where no one would ever find their remains. “This whole place gives me a very bad fee--”

                                                                    BAM!

The door opened sharply with a resounding noise that almost made Mikoto go deaf on the spot, had she not immediately reached for her kunai holder, thinking it was an attack on her person. But no, it was just an older gentleman, his face wet from old and new tears. Just as quickly as he burst out of the door - all but knocking Szen out of his path - he fell to his knees before Makoto, blubbering like a madman. "I'm so sorry! I'll give you anything you want, medicine, clothing, iron, just please━please!” On and on he continued, begging though barely-legible words for the life of his precious daughter - the same daughter, Mikoto assumed, that the bandits were discussing before. Well, at least it seemed like they found the right deserted village in the middle of nowhere.

For a good few moments, Mikoto was rendered speechless. Which, in itself, was rather an impressive feat. Her mind first questioned what was happening, then why the stranger was asking them to spare the girl when all they did was come to find out more information on the dastardly bandits. Then it clocked. He thought they were bandits, or at least mercenaries hired by the group that has been launching attacks on the town. The thought simply did not sit right. Her, a villain? Mikoto huffed in indignation, her small fists clenched at her sides.

“Calm yourself, good sir!” The indignation and surprise brought back the high-society training in Mikoto, her tone of voice taking on a more rotund and proud manner similar to that of her father. Good thing she wasn’t aware of it, lest such a similarity make her nothing short of furious. “We are not here to rob you.” She knelt before the man, helping him to his feet. The elder sniffled, regarding her with weary but curious gaze, which then shifted to her companions, and then back to her. When it finally landed on the Sunagakure emblem etched into the metal band on her chest, he finally let out a shaky breath.

“O-Oh… I did not think… When I saw three strangers approach the town, I just assumed…” The man trailed off, clearly finding it difficult to form coherent words in his distress. “Forgive me. I did not mean to trouble you with our troubles. But I am afraid we have nothing to offer you in terms of aid… As you can see, we have little left even for our own needs.” He gestured weakly at the dusty remains of what once might have been a beautiful and thriving merchant town. “But… for all it is worth, I am the mayor. Welcome to our humble village.”

“Actually,” Mikoto grinned, “We are here to help you. You see, we overheard some dastardly bandits talking about a nearby town they raided, and a young woman they keep hostage. So we decided to help. Like proper shinobi!” Mikoto tapped the Suna symbol with her index finger, pride clearly evident in her voice.

But the mayor was not impressed. That much was evident by the tired, weary gaze he deigned to give Mikoto after her little spheal. “I… appreciate your enthusiasm, young man, but you are but three people against a sea of trained mercenaries. Do not misunderstand, I am sure you are capable, but… You must understand… My daughter’s life is on the line, and…” Tears welled up in his eyes as his thoughts once again returned to the unfortunate fate of his offspring.

“Hmph! Nonsense!” Mikoto frowned, the intensity of her glare surprising the mayor enough to stop another crying fit. In a matter of seconds, the youngest member of the team went from looking like, well, a kid, to fierce. Lips pressed together in a thin line, brows furrowed, and fists clenched so tightly at her sides that her nails dug into her skin, Mikoto was the very image of indignation. “What do you intend to do them, lock yourselves in your homes and cry yourselves to oblivion while the mercenaries ransack your town and kidnap your children? At least we are trying to do something! And if you don’t believe we can do it, then… Then we will show you what we can do!” She turned, and stomped off towards the nearest open field, calling out to her companions in the process. “Come on, you two! Let’s show these cowards what a real shinobi looks like!”

                                                                                                ▇ ▇ ▇ ▇ ◟* MIKOTO ❛UKITAKE — ❞

  • After they were in agreement their entire team took off together to scout the lands until they could find the town the impure folk had spoken of. All the while Kairi couldn't help but be happy despite the situation. This was everything she had hoped for when she had joined Szen all of those years back. Although she despised men and didn't trust the lot of them, he had changed her mind in the slightest. It was Szen who had come to her with a letter from her father while she was away from him for some time. The letter had been simple and good in that the old man was staying out of trouble, but she was sure that would only last for so long - if it wasn't a lie already. Szen had a way of making the words on the page seem like they came from her father's heart rather than his spoken word, like he too could see the bullshit in her father's lies. The letter was honest and brief. When Szen had explained his journeys and the many letters he had delivered, she knew he could be an opportunity waiting to be grasped.

So, she did. And now she was going to see the world and meet new people. All along the way doing something that would help her be remembered for something other than her parent's troubling past. To say the least, they were an interesting trio of travelers. Makoto was like a curious young boy, always climbing trees and running ahead despite the trouble he could get himself into. And when he jumped out a tree, Kairi didn't miss the chance to toss him an annoyed glance. She wasn't his mother, but what if he broke a leg and hindered their whole mission? On the other hand, there was Szen, calm and collected as though he'd been traveling his entire life - and he had. Then there was her. Never trusting a tree to be a tree or a branch to hold out even for a second. Always cautious and doubtful of even her own shadow on the ground and whether it'd lash out at her when she wasn't looking. Wondering if the ruffling of the bush was more than just a creature - but another shinobi searching for easy prey.

Kairi let out a long sigh as she searched all of these scenarios for what could resemble a town. At this point her legs weren't in pain, but she was beginning to die of boredom without something to do other than worry about Makoto. It wasn't until he climbed a particularly large tree that her eyes widened upon his drop. He'd already taken her by the hand and started rushing ahead when it finally registered that he'd found a town. Kairi allowed herself to be pulled a long, if only this once before pulling her hand back upon reaching their destination. The place looked desolate. It was like they reflected her own feelings as she watched any open door or shutter slam shut upon their arrival. She crossed her arms and rolled her eyes. Whatever. Not like I rushed here to help you, anyway. Although she had and she knew it. Rejection just hurt. Szen piped up first and she made a bitter and sarcastic remark, " Maybe all their crappy dads ran out on their moms like mine and gambled away all their livelihoods abroad so they've gained a certain streak of distrust towards the world. "

Noticing that it hadn't been the time nor place to say that she crossed her hands behind her back and looked up at the sky like it hadn't been her to say it in the first place. That was when a door burst open and she immediately sharpened her eyes on the newcomer, her body in an instinctual stance of defense.

"I'm so sorry! I'll give you anything you want, medicine, clothing, iron, just please━please! Give me back my daughter, I can't lead nor live not knowing she's alright, not having her home.. I cannot bear this any longer, give her back to me...."

If she hadn't heard the thieves in the first place she wouldn't believe the man without evidence. After all he was a man in an area like this. It could be that he just wanted to rob them blind or trick them into doing some dirty work. However, this time, just this time, she'd let him off the hook because she had the intel. Makoto, with his soul of gold was the first to speak to the man. Kairi stood back and watched now folding her arms as their talk ensued. Kairi couldn't help but to roll her eyes when the man started crying. For goodness sake she wanted to smack him. Probably because he reminded her of her own worthless father bringing out the water works after he'd made a mess of everything. God it struck a nerve so bad she had to avert her eyes from him and take deep breaths.

Kairi grabbed a nearby log and brought it near the man, grabbing him by the shoulder and roughly sitting him down upon it. She knelt down and looked into his eyes with her own crimson hues lined with seven rings. " Listen here, I'm not as good with words or as nice as my two friends here. If you want to get your daughter back you need to dry that ocean of tears, harden your heart, and open up your eyes. You'd better be damn grateful when we get your little darling back, and more than that, you'd better make her proud that you're her father. Or I'll come back when I'm stronger and steal her away myself. Understand? " She turned to see that there was a meager training area composed of targets that looked like scare crows made of odds and ends. Guess this will have to do she pondered as she walked ahead with a sigh.

                                                    • Szen'd stepped aside only in time to avoid the slamming door as it'd opened so abruptly. He was light on his feet, alert to whomever had burst out to appear before him and his friends. A kunai had found its way into Szen's hand and he held onto it delicately, inclined to use it at any given moment should their host give him any reason to do so. He was rather protective of his company, of Kairi and Makoto. The three of them had traveled the lands for a time now. Enough of a time to have had formed durable bonds with one another, even with Kairi, although the man-hater would likely never admit her affection towards them.

Letters had drawn them all together, the letters Szen had written either for them or their beloved ones. His writing was the only thing he had any real talent in, perfect as a flame that springs and spreads, till each glad limb became a note of rapture in the tune of life itself. And he was content with just that, especially if letter-writing could bring him true friends like Makoto and Kairi. Lasting acquaintances were not easy to come by for Szen, so the two he had at present were more precious far than any accumulated store of gold and orient gems.

He stared at them now with a gaze sharper than arrowhead. If the man might make a single move to assault them, he was good as dead. But instead, the fellow immediately prostrated himself before Makoto and unleashed a torrent of tears onto them, mourning aloud the recent loss of his daughter. The older male's tale seemed to marry the one Szen and his traveling companions had eavesdropped on at the raiders' camp. "We do not associate with those scum." Szen solemnly stated fore Makoto could greet the miserable man.

So this is the town leader? They certainly did him in, along with his town... he speculated, eyes roaming the scarred village once more, while his hand traded holding the grip of his kunai for the tough leather of his belt. In the meantime, Makoto attempted to hush the pitiful soul with the promise of returning his daughter. Szen glanced toward the shorter boy at that. It was easier a task said than done, he thought, though his eyes did not betray those feelings onto Makoto this time. This needed to be done no matter the risk.

“I… appreciate your enthusiasm, young man, but you are but three people against a sea of trained mercenaries. Do not misunderstand, I am sure you are capable, but… You must understand… My daughter’s life is on the line, and…”

The broken leader did not believe in them. This didn't surprise Szen, considering all his squad had to offer was three, against the odds of at least twenty raiders, if not more. Szen knew not their numbers, but they had to have plenty as they'd whittled down this bustling merchant town to near naught but dust. Surely they had to have had protectors. Hired guards that had defended their quaint villa. Especially with such valuable business and exchange going on within their walls.

Kairi grabbed a wooden log and sat the sad nonbeliever down. He quieted quickly enough, and in turn listened to what she had to say. "Listen here, I'm not as good with words or as nice as my two friends here. If you want to get your daughter back you need to dry that ocean of tears, harden your heart, and open up your eyes. You'd better be damn grateful when we get your little darling back, and more than that, you'd better make her proud that you're her father. Or I'll come back when I'm stronger and steal her away myself. Understand?" Her words as per usual, were a little rough on the ears.

Before the town leader could cower away, Szen was swift to translate the hidden meaning behind his friend's truly thoughtful consolation, "What my companion, Kairi, means to say, is that we'll return your daughter to you at no cost━only that you reinforce your defenses and maintain contact with us, be it by messenger or carrier bird, should there be any resurgence in hostility. Now, you know Kairi.. the other is known as Makoto, and I am Szen. What should we call you?" His voice was like the hollow wind in a cave, deep and cold, to spite the warmth his message was meant to bring. The older male barely managed to introduce himself, amid gulping down his tears and being whelmed by these yet empty promises, "Minori....Ito."

He'd decided his course long fore his friends had, yet seeing another man who's lived his life, who had a family and beloved daughter, now broken up like baffled dreams, rose a red rage within Szen like something he felt whenever he encountered 'bumps' on his way to delivering precious messages twixt long-severed hearts that only yearned to touch one another once more. The chains that held his wrath stirred and rattled. His blood boiled when he imagined the worst what could've occurred to this father's child, yet Szen showed not an ounce of emotion other than what his tone had already affirmed.

Makoto chimed in shortly after Kairi, his positive tone managing to slightly smother the flames that burned in Szen's hearts. His companion wanted to put some faith in the town leader. Szen didn't believe that they had time for this, howbeit he supposed that they should build at least a semblance of trust between themselves and Ito. So he stepped onto the nearby field and performed. His display was simple as much as it was effective. He'd done it many a time long before he ever met this man, though not so openly as now, not without imminent battle or bloodshed. Stretching his arm out ahead of himself, it'd come apart at seams unseen. Segmenting first at his wrist to expose brilliant strands of tourmaline blue.

Aglow with chakra-infused energy, the strands that slipped out from beneath his deliberately severed skin suddenly extended. His arm split into segments, streaming forth with tendrils that stretched purposefully as they shot his hand out toward a presumed target. A rotten apple on a deserted merchant stand was plucked from among fruit that lingered in a similar state. Szen swiftly recoiled his arm, drawing the apple near to him as his limb retracted near fully. Without examining the fruit, he crushed it, sending its discolored juices flying in each and every direction.

His coils appeared taut and solid around the length of his arm, while the point that stretched most distally looked to be sharp as an oversize needle. Drawing his arm back, he pivoted on a leg and turned to transfer his momentum into a nearby wooden pole. The lance that'd become his arm impaled the timber, sending splinters soaring with an audible crackle loud as the snap of a whip.

Withdrawing his threads, his arm became whole and normal again, then Szen turned to give Ito a slight bow. It was his comrades turn to follow suit, though Szen supposed his display had been more than enough to exhibit their potential as a team.

Mikoto's words may have run loud and proud, but she was hardly the kind to have big, show-stopping abilities. With teammates like Kairi and Szen, more firepower was simply not necessary, and so Mikoto stuck with the support role, patching up injuries when needed, warning of incoming danger from the back. Her greatest contribution was her medical ninjutsu... But she supposed it would have to do. Keen eyes turned back to the mayor of the beaten town - Minori Ito, he had called himself. Good thing Szen was ever the polite one, thinking to ask the man's name while Mikoto was off seething with indignation. Otherwise it was likely the young shinobi would have continued calling the man 'mayor' forever, and that was hardly conductive to a proper business relationship, was it? No, seriously, was it? Mikoto had no idea. She had never been very business-savvy. But while she remained mostly oblivious to social graces, Mikoto's eyes did perceive the cuts and bruises on the man's body, likely caused by the same barbarians that caused such devastation to his town. The thought of able-bodied men and women assailing a man with nary enough strength to hold himself upwards caused rage to bubble up within the pits of her stomach, but with a deep exhale she forced those feelings down. Rage was good, but only sometimes. Rage was good for fighting, for destruction and for pushing one's self past the point of exhaustion in order to deliver that one final strike or save a teammate's life. Mikoto knew that well. But in her specialty, in the path that she had chosen for herself, rage interfered with fine chakra control, and that was undesirable.

Mikoto closed her eyes. In, out. In, then out. Deep breaths to cool her head and achieve the focus she required. When she finally opened her eyes again, there was a steely determination in them that seemed almost dangerous. Old man Ito eyed her carefully, uncertain of the change that gripped the youngest member of this strange team of wanderers, but he got to ask no questions before Mikoto's form blurred before his eyes. She reappeared an arm's length away from him, her palms aglow with a calming green chakra, and before she even raised her hands, the man's bruises and scratches were beginning to heal. While Ito blinked in confusion at the rapid healing of the minor injuries, Mikoto smirked, pleased with the shock on the old man's face. "Surprised? I told you not to underestimate us."
                                                                    x

The glow of chakra solidified and extended from the middle of her palm, forming something concrete. When Mikoto opened her eyes again, there was a glowing sphere floating in the air an inch or so below her joined hands. If one listened very closely, they would hear the subtle buzz of chakra moving around, directed by Mikoto's will. Once certain that her chakra control was even and would not fluctuate and cause the orb to explode at the most unfortunate moment, Mikoto moved her palms to hover the orb over a slightly deeper cut on the man's skin, which had healed only slightly during the previous healing attempt. It was a somewhat old cut, with scar tissue beginning to form over it, but Mikoto hoped this would help. It certainly caused the man to go wide-eyed as the cut closed before his very eyes.

It was hard to tell whether it was the sternness of her gaze or the stark contrast between the noblesse oblige behind it and the usual laid-back attitude Mikoto exhibited that had the greater effect in silencing the man. “Hush. I’m not done with the show yet.”

When the man’s silence had been ascertained, Mikoto left his side and closed her eyes yet again, taking in a deep breath. Despite her outward confidence, she was far less assured in her ability to perform the next technique than she wanted anyone to know. It had only been a couple months since she awakened to her bloodline of Scorch Release, and not only had she not mentioned this ability of hers to her travelling companions, but she also did not exactly know what to do with it. It was her mother’s side that carried the bloodline, she assumed. Her father had not a single talented shinobi in his family as far as records existed, while her mother was the daughter of a clan. Details were few and far between, however, and scarcer still since the abandonment of Sunagakure. To make matters worse, Mikoto’s mother was five years dead, and even if her father knew anything on the matter, Mikoto was too prideful to come back home and ask him. Wherever he was. She assumed he made it out of the war alive, at least, what with him sending her a letter together with Szen.

But she had to be able to do this, at least. Medical ninjutsu would only carry her so far if she was unable to exploit even the most basic of her naturally-given talents. She knew that. So why did her hand tremble ever-so-slightly as she raised it? She stared at her open palm, concentrating on channeling an element she could not yet really control. Heat pulled from the air to amass at her palm, no larger than a pebble, but radiating small bursts of scorched air around it. Mikoto frowned. This wasn’t good enough, was it? Not at all. Somewhere at the back of her mind, Mikoto could almost hear her former sensei screaming her head off in some semi-motivational and semi-insulting spiel.

So Mikoto gritted her teeth and concentrated harder, and the ball above her head grew steadily larger. It paused as it reached the size of her hand and Mikoto almost punched herself in frustration. But that would be against the point. This was no longer a showcase to prove something to this old man so he would stop being an idiot and let three random strangers save his daughter. No, now it was more about proving something to herself. The air thrummed with heat, and the ball grew steadily bigger, until it reached the size of a football. Mikoto let out a breath she didn’t realize she had been holding. This seemed to be the limit of her ability, for now.

Mikoto grinned at the man, ignoring the beads of sweat forming at her brow. “Cool, right?” She asked, clearly pleased with herself, before sending the ball flying upwards. A jump and swift kick followed, launching the ball at the nearest tree. The moment the heated sphere came into contact with the fresh leaves, they shriveled, giving off steam as water got evaporated out of them.

Arms on her hips and chin tilted upward, Mikoto was clearly pleased with her efforts. If only her sensei could see her now. If only her teammates could, too. Would they be proud? She could only wonder.

For a moment, the man was speechless, gaze flickering between the steaming tree branch and the short shinobi before him. He swallowed thickly, then gave a shaky smile, a little light returning to his eyes at the group’s display of ability. “That is… Quite impressive, young man. Perhaps I was wrong about you and your companions. A man my age knows when I am beaten in an argument.” He bowed respectfully. “If you would allow it, I would like to see more of your skill. Though,” He eyed the tree wearily again, his gaze moving from it to the rather… flammable… houses close by. “Perhaps a change of location would be better? We had an archery range, once. Our town has a long history of fine archers, you see… Or had, at any rate. Those were different times, you understand.” There was something dejected and sad in his time of voice and in the way his shoulders slumped ever-so-slightly underneath his robe. “Follow me, if you will.”

  • With Szen and soon thereafter Makoto having demonstrated their skills it was now her turn. Kairi interlaced her fingers and applied pressure in order for each to audibly crack. They made a change of scenery to an archery range and away from the area with closely placed homes. Perhaps he was worried about the damage that they could do after what he had seen. The question no was, where should she start? Szen's skills had made quite the show of strength and precision while Makoto had shown her own incredible skills with healing and fire. How could she show this man that she had what it took to save his daughter? That she was worth putting his faith into moreso than even himself? She pondered it for a moment, wondering which jutsu to train alongside her companions.

Kairi closed her eyes and focused her chakra. In a moment the winds around her would stir causing locks of her raven hair to whip throughout the air like tendrils of their own. Beside her the form of a dragon would begin to form from these winds. It wouldn't be visible all at once, but slowly, as though an apparition appearing from thin air. The winds would create a traditional Chinese dragon in all of its glory. The red mane and light blue body would be slightly transparent due from begin formed from her fuuton chakra. Yet it was still a beautiful sight to behold, a majestic creature ready to fight at a moment's notice. It wasn't there just for looks either, as the dragon was capable of shooting Kaze Bakuhatsu from its mouth, but it could disperse after launching its projectile attacks.
    _____[ Rank C ] Furyuu no Jutsu [ Wind Dragon Technique ]

The wind dragon would wrap around Kairi's body and she'd reach out to it as though caressing a pet. She smiled as she peered out to the archery area laid out before her in order to gather her wits about her aim. She had some skill with a bow and arrow, but this time she would use her creation in order to hone her targeting skills. Pointing her index finger out towards the target placed in the center of the field, she could immediately feel the energy around her. It made her excited to see where the concussive blast of wind would land. She watched with great anticipation as the sphere was created within the dragon's belly and was then released from its jaws in an incredible fashion. The concussive blast of wind would travel forth, whipping her past her shoulders and behind her and setting her sleeves aflutter. As if with great accuracy the blast of wind hit its mark perfectly, sending the target in itself flying backwards due to the nature of the blast. Again she would point towards another target, and another blast would ensue rushing straight towards the target she had been pointing at and toppling it over. Lastly, she would try something different. She herself would lean forth and look the dragon in the eyes then gesture towards the target with them. It seemed her pet understood quite well her meaning, and again a concussive blast of wind set forth like a wild dog chasing after a car until it hit the mark Kairi had set. Just like that the Chinese dragon disappeared into the air as it casually wrapped itself around Kairi as though to say its farewell.

Kairi then set eyes on the leader of this small town and smiled a cheeky sort of grin. Getting a hold on her inner chakra supply, Kairi began to channel it towards him in order to invade his own system. For theatrical effect, the girl would lift her hands to the clear skies above and watch the skies as though capable of manipulating them in some way. Soon the clear skies would be clustered with three slowly moving clouds that would slowly turn from a bright white color into a dark, dusty gray. This could only warn of one thing as then even the skies slightly darkened as though in fear of these ominous clouds. If one looked closely, these clouds would become dense, casting an obvious shadow that threatened of heavy rain. And just at this moment drop of rain would begin to fall from the sky. Kairi would now take a peek at the man who was holding his hands out before him at the sudden change in the weather as though astounded. However, to further prove that it was she who had caused this, Kairi spoke suddenly " Lightning, strike now! " From the clouds would suddenly push through large white branching trees of light. One would strike, and then two right around the man and she could see the fear in his eyes as they did. Thunder would not ring throughout the area, but such was the case in times of heat. Within the threatening clouds one would see the lights bursting. The drops of rain fell upon the ground and pounding against his skin as he stared at his dampening clothing. This all added to the effect that the rain was real. Due to his surprise, he probably had still not noticed that he could not hear the rain pattering against his skin or the various metal objects around him or even the rooftops. Yet, it wouldn't be long before he did so without a moment's hesitation she released her chakra influence in order for the change in weather to be released.

Lastly, Kairi would show this man a taste of her strength. Using her Rinnegan, Kairi would choose the Deva Path which would allow her to manipulate both attractive and repulsive forces. She would eye a large boulder on the ground before her with weapons leaned against it. Kairi would set her targets upon the still object and user the Rinnegan to make the boulder the source of repelling forces. Slowly, she lifted her upturned palm and the boulder would dislodge from its place on the ground. The weapons leaned against it would clatter and clank to the ground as it lifted before her with ease. She didn't have great range, but she could manipulate this large boulder to her will. Moving her hand to the left, the boulder would move along with her gesture. Moving her hand to the right, the same would occur. She looked at the man, eyes open wide with bewilderment. She brought the boulder above his head and he looked up into the air, falling to the ground on his rear end and holding a hand up to her in defeat. " Okay, okay. I understand! I understand! I underestimated you all due to your ages. I did not believe that you could rescue my daughter. But now, I have seen what you are capable of. Please, please save my daughter. Young lady, I will not anger you. I will not let you down."

Kairi then moved the boulder down beside the spot where it had once been. " I am glad that you have seen the error of your ways. Even an ant, no matter how small, has strength beyond your imagination. And with friends, incredible things can be accomplished. " She turned to her friends and smiled. " I think we should get moving if we plan to find her before something horrible happens and there is no turning back. Now is not the time to play. " With that said she walked past the man and even past her companions. Right now, she was fired up and with each step her heart grew more ready to show the mercenaries what she could do.

    SHION xxxxx MORI
Following the all too familiar path back to the hidden waterfall, Shion lead her team to a small clearing in the treeline surrounding the base. There, she'd encounter the sensory scout sent out ahead of them to observe the base for any changes. "Ma'am, I've tracked the Sons' location to a small cavern just beyond the tree line," the scout would report, gesturing to the left of the group indicating the direction of the base.

Shion nodded to the scout, affirming she'd heart the initial report, following up with her own line of questions. "Any idea what we're up against? Numbers, skill sets, anything?" The scout's eyes darted around, landing on each member of the group before letting out a small, shameful gulp. "I'm not sure, ma'am. Something is interfering with my sensory abilities." Once again, whatever higher power that ran these missions seemed hellbent on making life as difficult as they possibly could for the gang. A perturbed sigh slipped past Shion's lips as she waved off the scout. "Alright, you can go. Good job and all that," Nodding in confirmation, the scout dashed off back in the direction of the village, pausing for a brief moment to relay one last message. "One more thing. There has been some unusual seismic activity in the area. I'm unsure as to whether it is directly related to the mission or not, but be cafeful."

Despite the scout's uncertainties, something in the pit of Shion's stomach told her they'd be finding out what was causing the seismic disturbances soon enough. Turning to face her team, Shion began formulating a plan; first thing was first, however. "Okay, team. Looks like we're going in blind. But before we do, do either of you have any way of scouting ahead into the cave? Anything at all would help. We need to eliminate as many of these unknowns as possible before I send you in."

Right as the scout dispersed almost on queue. The ground began to tremble again, like an angry giant. For Kagerou. If she were to look inside the cave using the prowess of her eyes something would be revealed to her. Chakra. Lots of it. But as the scout informed Shion it was like a static. Like many tiny particles of chakra had collected together and had been sending out waves dispersing like fine dust through the cavernous system. But what the scout failed to mention or rather failed to detect because of the sheer amount of it. Was like dust this particulate chakra static was everwhere inward of the cave and more, with a very discerning eye one could see there was shape to them. The shapes winded and coiled around below the earth. These were tunnels. More over, these tunnels while they were scattered everywhere, with some ending on dead ends, looking past a far distance up to as far as one could see with a sensory eye were leading in a direction. That cardinal direction was Arashi. It was like a venous network with the primary length guiding to one particular destination. If they really were tunnels though why make so many that seemed to go nowhere? The details about the remaining UHV that Shion would be aware of was there could have been no more than thirty, sixty tops so why so many branching areas. The cave alone could hold that many people with branching paths and thats assuming each branching path ended at something akin to a personal room. Had they a Byakugan user that impertaive eyesight would reveal highly detailed information. Sadly they did not. But this would provide more information than the scout provided, assuming this was the course of action Kagerou would take. Of course if any of them decided to play the bravest of the bunch the first to enter the cave would come to a shocking discovery.

User ImageTo Shion's left crouched a cute-in-a-normal-way girl. She had her head propped on her arms, which were in turn propped on her legs. Reddish brown hair framed a bright smile that matched well with her bright eyes the same color as her hair. She kept up a relaxed air even at the imminent start of the mission. However, her concentrated silence and steady gaze was the proof that she was not simply taking her mission lightly.

This was Kagerou, hopefully to no one's surprise. She had departed for a short while to change clothes, but had performed this physical transformation while traveling with the rest of her squad. If asked what, she explained without reservation that it was medical technique that could mold her physical appearance as she wished. If asked why, she explained equally as easily that it was because she thought it would be most advantageous for her if the enemy didn't know what she looked like.

So here sat a Kagerou that looked nothing like she usually did. Her eyelids lowered slightly at the sensor's explanation for his patchy information. He believed him, in both his words and the efforts he put in. She wouldn't be able to do any better, so she moved on without batting an eyelid.

The ground shook, and Kagerou gave it a surprised, but overall calm glance. "Intrigued but not worried," was the best way to describe how she thought of these earth tremors. Certainly, these frequent tremors were something to worry about, but Kagerou kept her head high and clear above panicking.

To answer Shion, she lightly suggested, "I have a way: walking in. If I advertise my medical abilities, it could be easier for them to trust me." The obvious implications here were twofold: the value of a medic and their generally lower combat abilities. Less obvious was in the way Kagerou held herself. This girl next door, crouching with head in hands. The very last word to describe her would be dangerous. "Worst comes to worst," Kagerou casually started to straighten out her appearance, getting ready to go in, "I'll be relying on you guys to save me."

She waited long enough. Long enough for the soft spoken to search with their sensory abilities and then report a carefully constructed observation. Long enough for Shion to give her a weird look before giving her a firm denial. Long enough for someone who takes a bit of time to come up with another suggestion. Long story short, Kagerou waited long enough before sharing a few signals they could communicate basics with and moving forward with her idea.

Well, unless she got Shion's affirmation. Then she moved forward immediately.

Although, she didn't move forwards at first. At first, she moved backwards, disappearing back behind the treeline before appearing again some distance to the side and behind her squad. She approached the cave from a slightly different direction as her head turned this way and that, taking in the sights. Her pace was neither hurried nor unhurried. When Kagerou got close enough to see the entrance to the cave, her smiling face shifted subtly. At first, a slight squint, as if she was confirming what she saw. Then, looking left and right, as if to ascertain her location. Finally, a nod of determination before Kagerou covered the last leg of distance between herself and cave. She entered the cave.

    Class Disciplines
____Support Specialist → The user is capable of conferring a moderate stat boost to any ally that they desire. This stat boost can be what ever the medic wishes, however it can only go on one ally for as long as the medic wishes. Additionally to this, the medic is able to use healing eseijutsu on an ally from a distance as opposed to having to touch them. The range for this is fifty [50] feet.
____Inscriptions of Power → Through tireless study and practice ninja of this discipline have learned to create fuuinjutsu that is stronger than those of their peers. Gaining the property of overwhelming all fuunjutsu will defeat techniques of the same rank unless they also overwhelm same rank, in which case they will cancel out.
    Universal Attributes
      • Kiritani Heritage - The Kiritani, the maternal side of Kagerou's family, have a long tradition of serving Kirigakure from the shadows and high standards to match. Being able to cast techniques without hand signs is what they consider the bare minimum, and they expect no less from Kagerou despite her Uchiha surname. Kagerou can replace hand signs/seals with equivalent gestures and motion from the wrists or fingers of one hand.
      • Hippocratic Oath - Whatever it takes from her, Kagerou is determined to save every life she can, more so than taking any. When a healing eiseijutsu is used, a single healing or situational eiseijutsu of lower rank can be supplemented onto it for no extra cost in chakra or activation. This includes augment techniques.
      • Nightmare Veteran - There's really no place like home. Even genjutsu struggles to match hellish nightmare created from the mind of an exhausted Jack, and this experience, along with several others, has left the already naturally calm Kagerou even better suited to remain composed in the face of any pressure. She is adept at seeing through genjutsu, and even when she can't (or if the horror turns out to not be genjutsu at all), she's still incredibly difficult to ruffle to the point that once Kagerou recognizes the genjutsu, it loses much of its potency. A recognized genjutsu of lower rank than Kagerou cannot inflict real injuries on Kagerou, and while her physical body within the genjutsu is still affected as normal--being pushed, pulled, bound, or what have you--emotional and other strictly mental sensations have no hold on her.
      • Inkapocalypse - You thought this was a pun on Inka, but it was me! Dio! Bad jokes aside, the PA really isn't about Inka. Dissatisfied by her cluelessness during the Sero pod event, Kagerou spent days researching sealing, and through sheer repetition, it's become easier for her to use seals. She can write seals up to her body rank on the fly, using even her own chakra manifestation if necessary. Writing a seal takes up the same activation as using it, and in the case when her chakra manifestation is used to form a seal, her chakra becomes visible to the naked eye and she can only extend her manifestation as far as 1m away from her body. For the purposes of this PA, Fuuinjutsu includes the Kuchiyose techniques. When a chakra manifestation seal absorbs something, said something is considered to be stored within her chakra manifestation until it is later released with the appropriate technique.
      • Blood Moon - In the light of the blood moon, Kagerou maintained her calm and spread it to others. Since then, such a practice has imprinted itself into her eiseijutsu. Targets of Kagerou's eiseijutsu can korabo their kai with the eiseijutsu technique, increasing the strength of their kai by one rank. As per korabo rules, the eiseijutsu technique and kai must be the same base rank.
    Medical Job Attributes
      • Iryo-nin I - Kagerou can retrain [Medical] jutsu into those with a [MEDIC] tag on the end of them. [MEDIC] jutsu exhibit healing properties equal to their rank and are considered to be [Medical] and eiseijutsu.
      • A Sound Mind I - Due to her training in the psychiatry medical field, Kagerou knows when someone is deceiving her. Note that this does not mean she knows the details of the deception, such as how she is being deceived, what she is being deceived on, to what extent the deception goes, etc. This PA can be countered by either an opposing PA and a higher rank in the psychiatry medical field or by a technique above or at Kagerou's body rank that can obscure truth and lies.
      • A Sound Mind II - Due to her training in the psychiatry medical field, Kagerou is adept at deceiving others. She doesn't give those telltale signs, down to even the smallest detail, that others use as indicators of truth and lie. This PA can be countered by either an opposing PA and equal ranks in the psychiatry medical field or by a technique above or at Kagerou's body rank that can discern truth from lies.

Thus it was done. Kagerou would be the first to enter the cave. It was dimly lit and looking around her immediate vicinity she would find...nothing. The walls were dark as if they were made of dark stone a contrast to the outside of the cave. There were no guards, there were no people of whom to offer her medical abilities to. There was only a pair of steel double doors about forty feet ahead of her from the entrance. Then where she may have felt confident to give the all clear. She would feel something...something moving across the toes of her feet. This, of course, was only if her choice of attire was the kind ninja's typically wore. Had she these opened toed shoes, even then, that feeling across her foot would be very light otherwise she would feel nothing before what was about to happen next.

If Kagerou looked down, if this feeling was felt, the criminal would be none other than a single ant. Then this is when it happened. The whole cave shook, the dark walls. They began moving! Then what sounded like the amplified noise of chitin rubbing each other would begin to echo. These were...Giant masses of ants! Coordinated intelligent insects. It would be clear now what it was that interfered with the earlier scouts sensory prowess all these ants loosening their chakra. There was a technique that those in the Aburame knew. The {Insect Jamming Technique} would that resonate with Kagerou who once had an aburame as an accomplice? Moreover having said aburame as an accomplice would she know the dangers that these ants were more than likely, more than mere ants!

Had she noticed sooner by the sudden feeling she may have gotten on her foot perhaps she'd have had enough time to turn tail and flee before the following? The unit outside would see from their perspective a darkly colored mass was closing the entrance to cave. A straightforward that's not good signal being sent to both of them. Four massive spiraling towers of ants would stand surrounding her like little Tornadoes closing in on Kagerou whether she ran or stood her ground while several were rushing across the ground towards her naturally.

If she did flee and escape. An oddity would occur she could look behind her and see that the ants would not be leaving the cave entrance and further looking into would reveal the walls they had once covered had several large holes like channels among one or two unfortunate corpses that seemed dessicated inside those channels looking to be picked apart.

If Kagerou did not flee. She would have to endure or find a solution to the following. The Squad leader would have to make the decision to dive in now an attack the black mass closing off the cave entrance now or later thusly having the unit enter the cave themselves.

    •Hijutsu: Mushitatsumaki [ Secret Technique: Insect Tornado ] x 4 {Will Drain An A-rank amount of chakra per hit and multiply the ants}
    Rank: A [ 5k Insects ]
Official Description: This technique covers the enemy's entire body with the kikaichū living inside the Aburame clan member's body. The chakra-sensing kikaichū spread over a wide range, and the moment they locate the enemy, the insects, following the user's orders, gather at once completely surrounding the target creating a fast-moving tornado that will seemingly disintegrate the target.

    •Mushi Kabe no Jutsu [ Insect Wall Technique ] {Forming Around the Cave Entrance - Gets Thicker Per Post}
    Rank: E-C [ 200 Insects minimum ]
Official Description: Mushi Kabe no Jutsu is a Ninjutsu technique utilized by the Aburame clan. Using the destruction bugs living in their body, the clan host calls forth a reasonable amount of the bugs to form a thick wall. The size of this wall is only limited to the number of insects the user chooses to carry and call forth at that time. This is a very useful and powerful defensive jutsu.
Guild Description: The amount of chakra used for the technique does not change past C. From there the strength of the wall is determined by number of insects used. The wall is treated as 1 Rank weaker against piercing type attacks. (i.e Sword Thrusts, Senbon, Narrow Sharp Penetration)
    E- 200 [Insects]
    D- 500 [Insects]
    C- 1000 [Insects]
    B- 2000 [Insects] {Currently At}

Yuno stood behind and to Shion's right, arms crossed, while she waited for her leader to finish conversing with the scout. As it turned out they were entirely useless. So far they had nothing to go on but a report of weird seismic activity. Worthless. "I ran into a similar scenario on the bloop-nin's mission. My bright idea of throwing a rock to test out an obvious trap at the entrance caused the malcontents inside to emerge from the very ground and attack me. I assume these sons have the same capability so no I don't have anyway of scouting it. They also might know that we're here soon as we approach the cave." she'd say after Kagerou spoke. "Ultimately it's your call commander."
