Alfen stayed beside Maliarc, staff in hand, ready to fight. This person, this demon, seemed to hold a very intense aura he could sense from afar. He was not a challenger to take on lightly. He was still a novice mage, an apprentice, he had no hope on his own. What little he could do was assisting magic and keeping the others safe. He looked behind him to Jaelle and Elesmira on their horses by the trees, sheltered by Eli. He hoped all hell wouldn't break loose.

Jaelle wanted to run, it was a gypsies code to avoid danger. But, she had to help in the few ways she could. She'd blessed them with a luck charm and it was all she could think of. Nothing else in her life prepared her for this. Gypsies lived a nomadic life of peace. They seldom encountered people like the man across the way. A shiver went up her spine. "Something is going to happen. I hope we aren't caught in the path....," she muttered to herself mostly.

"Keep a straight face and a brave heart. The Gods haven't abandoned us yet," Eli mentioned and held his breath for a moment. He wanted to think it was true...but his own life was another story. Hunted down and left for dead more than once, the Gods must have abandoned him. Surely they wouldn't turn away from innocents like Jaelle and Elesmira? He had to think they would hold true.

THE WARRIOR OF RED AND BLACK

___Aleith's gaze didn't waver. It didn't matter how close the intruder approached them or what he shouted or called her. Her hands held strong on the hilt of her longsword. Staring him down like nothing more than another thief on the streets. The kind she used to cut down everyday.
___Sevira's voice cut through her furious concentration, whispering the rough layout of a plan. Lead the demon to the river where they could escape, or at least gain some distance. It was a good plan and, well, their only plan. And although Aleith and Veronica both weren't the kind to run from a fight ever, this would be an exception. There were many innocent and weak individuals they were travelling with. If they were to have any hope of surviving, they'd have to return to this fight later. When they were the ones getting the jump on this demon.
___Aleith nodded after a moment of thought. "I will lead him to the deep end of the river then. Take the others and horses. We will catch up with you once he is stuck right where we want him." she spoke quietly to Sevira, just as she had done to her. She then glanced down to Veronica who was still at her side. "Come with me. Let's give this waste of skin a fun chase." she invited, her eyes settling back on the demon who was surveying the area. "The next time we see his face we will be carving it from his skull." she growled, and loudly, spreading her feet to hold a defensive and strong stance. She would wait till Sevira and the others had taken towards the river before leading the demon the other way.

Sevira sheathed her sword and narrowed her eyes at the opponent across the field. "I leave him in your hands. Just don't try and fight him directly, we don't know what he is capable of and we might not want to find out at this time. Not when the young ones are present," she stated as she whisted for Olrun to run to the trees and ran after him.

She signalled for the others to go towards the trees and she was hellbent on making sure they did so. Once they got towards the river, she heard a rumbling and explosions. She hoped Alieth and Veronica were okay. She trudged the group through the cold river, through the shallow part she knew so well, to the other side.

Once there, she stayed put with the others, sword in hand in case the enemy broke through and came after them the way they came. A knot in her stomach meant that something unexpected was about to happen. She knew to trust the feeling well.

Amira was taken aback when she was suddenly signalled and whisked away to cross the river, but if Sevira said to do so she would obey. She seemed capable enough of leading the group on her own, even though she did seek other's opinions to better lead. Once across the river, she sat on her horse and listened to the trees. The wind blew threw the branches and a single leaf fell into her open palm. She examined the leaf and knew it was a sign from the tree fairies.

"Someone approaches," she stated. It was a vague statement to most, but to her and those who understood magic it was just as it needed to be. If it was a warning, it would say so. This was less of a warning and more of a notice. She secretly hoped it was Wilhelm. She'd feel safer with him around to shield herself and Jaelle.

Teivel snickered slightly as he twirled his weapon overhead. As it spun quicker and quicker, sparks of lightning ignited and danced in the air. "You'd be best not to underestimate me, girl. You might regret those words you speak," he spat at her from across the way.

The instant after he spoke, he slammed his weapon into the ground and a bolt of supercharged lightning was directed at Alieth and Veronica. Veronica was the target, of course, since she was a human and not a half-demon. If the attack struck, it would kill her. If it didn't, he might see an opening to defeat them quickly and easily. He stood his ground firm and strong, waiting to see what they would do in the seconds that passed.

Already? Really? Veronica let out a sigh and rolled her eyes. They hadn't been on the road even a day and they were already being assaulted by some random poor sod. He was apparently pretty strong, as evidenced by Sevira wanting to use some sort of strategy and even Aleith telling her to take a stance and prepare herself. Was he worth that much?

She chose to ignore her master in this instance, however, staying on the horse instead of immediately taking up a stance. She didn't think very highly of their enemy, but she wasn't convinced abandoning her horse was the best idea at the moment. She was certainly at the ready, though. She kept her hands free and her eyes on the enemy.

Once Sevira and everyone else had taken off towards the river or wherever they were headed, the man made his move. His choice, while obvious, was smart. He went after Veronica instead of the obviously more powerful Aleith. By looks, Aleith had the stronger of the blood, and he wasn't wrong. Veronica had angel blood in her, but had far from inherited anything by way of strength and endurance. Apparently the attacker saw that and aimed some sort of attack at her. She couldn't tell exactly what it is, but it didn't look good.

She stood up on her horse as soon as the man struck the ground and when the mysterious ability came her way, she leaped as quickly as she could before the ability hit her horse. Although she landed safely behind her horse, she watched as the mare was killed, quite violently, by some sort of electric shock. Although she had to admit that was slightly frightening, she whistled.

"That's really something, man."

He was probably beyond her skill level. If she won, it would only be because of him underestimating her, or her using her unusual style with her surroundings, but even then she was unsure. He was obviously trained with killing in mind, and though she didn't know much, she could guess he was some sort of elite killer. Probably an assassin.

She had faith in her master though. Aleith would triumph. At the least, she knew her master could fight on par with him. Veronica just had to stay out of the way of this mans attacks. One or two would surely spell the end for her.

Teivel watched Veronica dodge in the manner that she did and a sickening grin crossed his face. "I see. You must be that Veronica girl. How miserable must your life have been. A father that only ever wanted a son. A mother who was cold as ice. If you think I am evil, you are surely on your way to the same place, girl. After all, you are responsible for murdering your own father," he stated in a cold tone. Just as he finished speaking, the glowing of his demonic limbs covered his body, and when it faded, it was Vaelyn Steele standing before them.

He twirled the spear in his hands and let out a cocky smile. "Surprised? You will never be able to fathom the amount of power I have. The amount of knowledge I have," he said, allowing his form to shift back to his own. He cracked his neck and knuckles and lowered himself into a lunging stance with his spear.

"This isn't a battle, my dear, this is a test. Whatever the outcome of this may be, in the end, it will be you that dies and I that stands over your bloody corpse," he snickered.

Definitely an assassin. The grin on his face was all she really needed to confirm it;his words were not necessary. They were somewhat a surprise, though. As the man shifted to a visage of her father and back, she maintained her composure. In fact, at that very moment, she was thinking about what they would have for dinner. Surprised? Hardly. Annoyed? A little. It wasn't a stretch to think an assassin had gotten a hold of her father. He wasn't very well liked.

She didn't like the idea of having to talk about what happened between her and her father though, as she knew she would have to with Aleith sooner or later. She didn't like her master would judge her or hold it against her, but it was a conversation that was just....awkward.

As he went into a stance, she lifted her hands up. "I'm not your opponent today, big boy. Keep your abilities in your pants. You're not impressing anyone." She kept her legs at the ready for another big dodge, but made sure her hands showed no signs of attacking. Not that she thought he wouldn't attack her, but to show her master she had no intent on making any rash decisions.

OOC:nah, it's fine. Her father wasn't well liked, so it's not that big a stretch of the imagination to think assassins would have been after him at some point.

aleith x elemaris

THE WARRIOR OF RED AND BLACK

___The others in the party fled into the forest and between the trees towards the river. When their footsteps finally disappeared behind Veronica and Aleith, the dance began. Lightning streaked through the air and along the ground towards the two. Alieth readied herself for the impact, but at the last minute it curved towards Veronica. She took the attack head on, knowing she didn't need to worry if it wasn't directed towards her. She didn't need to worry about Veronica either. The girl would know how to deal with such a novice attempt at a surprise attack.
___Aleith held her ground, feeling the impact of energy beside her. Her armor was hot from the heat of the lightning that got close. She enjoyed the warmth like she did any inviting flame. As the dirt settled once more, Aleith turned to see Veronica had dodged it flawlessly. She stood only a few feet from where she was. Between them was the horse. It was the one to take the blow, sending it on the ground to writhe in pain before dying. The scene was quite gruesome, leaving only a singed area where it once stood and the smell of burnt meat in the air.
___Aleith rolled her shoulders to roll off any dirt that had settled on the shoulderplates of her armor. The demon spouted some nonsense much like Wilhelm did. He was trying to intimidate Veronica in anyway he could. Aleith didn't recognize the man the demon had shifted into, nor did she know what he was talking about. But she didn't care, not now at least. For all she knew, it might be something that would cause Aleith to respect the girl more.
___Veronica quieted the man, always quick with her words in these kind of situations. Especially to someone so cocky. Aleith began to chuckle to herself before finding herself laughing quite loudly. She juggled her sword between her hands, the flames licking and biting at the air as it flew back and forth. "You underestimate her, stranger." she growled, voice rumbling with anger despite the smile on her face. "As far as testing goes, I will be the only giving the tests." A grin began to form over her smile, baring her sharp teeth. As he lowered down, so did she, gripping the hilt of her sword with both hands once more. "And as far as this battle goes, it is between you and me."
___Aleith pushed off the ground, charging towards the demon like a tank. She readied her sword, holding the blade back and ready to thrust into him when she was close enough. With every step, flames followed her. It flew off the sword, covering her body as she reached the intruder, ready to shove the blade into his gut.
___There was enough flame to cause the nearby flora to catch fire. The trees and grass began to crackle from the growing heat. This attack and the fire was only a distraction. Enough to allow Aleith and Veronica to escape, leaving the demon in a forest fire while they made their way towards the river. The only question now is if it would be enough to hold him back or if they'd be clawing their way to the river and meet up with the others with him on their heels. At least they still had the river to stop him as well.

Teivel watched the attack and paused for a moment. Sure, he could dodge the attack and go for a kill strike at a moments notice, but this wasn't an actual battle for him. It was merely a test, practice. He knew he could flee or dodge, but where was the fun in that? She wasn't going for a kill blow anyway, but something to slow him down. He'd give her that much.

He tossed his spear behind him and took her attack head-on. As a demon, he was rather impervious to fire, even though he did dislike the heat. The blade went through his torso, the fire singing the wound around it. He let a sickening smile cross his lips and while she was close, he used his demonic arm and ever-so-slightly cut her exposed arm. He let the blood linger there, before spitting in Alieth's face. This was to provoke a reaction to get her to throw him aside. He knew what he was doing.

He knew all too well.

aleith x elemaris

THE WARRIOR OF RED AND BLACK

___Aleith had been preparing for some sort of dodge or counterattack from her opponent. She might have even had pulled back the last second out of instinct had she not come up on him so quickly.
___Her blade slide into his torso like butter. The hot blade singed his dark skin, the flame from the sword erupting from the exit wound in his back. There was a sudden pause in that moment. They were face to face, her two handed sword hilt-deep in his stomach. The fire that engulfed both Aleith and her sword dissipated. Everything was quiet other than the crackle of the fire behind them. Until a single black claw swiped through the air. His aim was somehow perfect, cutting through one of the soft leather parts of the armor, on her upper arm. It sliced through and down to her skin, allowing a small amount of crimson blood to seep through. Enough for one small drop of blood to stay on the claw of the demon.
___That ******** p***k.
___"I'm going to kill you..." She grunted right before taking a wad of spit to the face. She flinched, but didn't move other than that. As if she had to stop and ask herself if he really just did that.
___With a roar of anger she placed a muddied boot next to where her blade had penetrated him. She kicked him off, twisting her blade in his gut as she ripped it out. She wanted to inflict as much damage as possible.
___But now it was time to go. Aleith took a few steps backwards once he was free of her blade. She watched the demon on the ground for only a moment before turning and running full speed back to Veronica. Through the flames and burning bramble she found her way back to her apprentice, wiping her face. "Let's go." she growled, her face full of anger. Aleith had only slowed down enough so Veronica would hear her before continuing to run onwards towards the river. She didn't care if the girl would keep up or not, they needed to leave.
___If the demon was able to keep any of her blood at all he might have a sickening advantage over them both. Depending on what he would be able to do with it, of course... It would call for some study and research to find out what kind of demon this person was and what he was capable of. As well as few more encounters, she was sure. Sevira was also waiting for them... And she knew that they shouldn't keep her waiting any longer than she already had.
___The sound of rushing water was close.

Location: Just outside Maeven in a forest, nearing a river.
Company: Veronica.

The instant Sevira saw Alieth and Veronica running towards her, she ran into the shallow part of the river and called them over. She knew they had little time to lose if the demon was following. She made sure they were across and kept a tense watch over the distance. The demon wasn't following, which was good, but she doubted he was dead. Judging from the small wound on Alieth, he didn't see the encounter as an actual battle but a test. He wasn't an enemy she wanted to face again, but something in the back of her mind knew that they would meet him down the road at some point in time.

"We don't want to linger here too much longer. We will travel to a safe distance and then rest for a short period of time. Once we get there, I have some things to discuss," she stated firmly. To others, it would sound like an order, but to those who knew her better would know it wasn't. She was just a stern person who didn't show emotion well.

Amira let out a sigh of relief when it was Alieth and Veronica that came running towards them, no sign of the demon in sight. She kept her eyes on the background while Sevira guided them across the shallows of the river. Once they were with the group, she got off her horse and examined Alieth's wounds. "It's not too deep, but if you would like, I can heal it so there's no risk of infection, milady," she stated in a sweet manner. She was still unsure of whether Alieth had a real care for the group so she wanted to tread carefully around her as no not provoke a reaction.

She, with her heightened Elven hearing, heard the familiar sound of horse shoes hitting grass and tensed a little. Was this someone familiar arriving or was it the demon coming after them on horseback? She had no choice but to wait and see the events unfold.

Teivel laid against the grass, looking up at the blue sky and clouds above him. Fire crackled around him and he smiled at what had gone down. He lifted his claw to his face and licked the blood off, savoring the taste. Absorbing part of Alieth's DNA; her memories, her appearance. Well, parts of it, since it wasn't as much blood as he would often take. It was still enough to suit him and his darker purposes with what he had in store for them.

"Don't run too far. I am still dying for another fight," he laughed to himself and saw a rider come close. He was still far enough away, but the fact he wore Fashrade armor was not a good sign. He was still injured, only slightly for a demon, but didn't want another fight just yet. He made his way to the shadows of the trees in the forest he came from and bid his time in healing his wounds and formulating a plan on getting to know what their intentions were in the first place.

He'd have fun with this group.

Wilhelm thundered down the road with his mare, keeping his eyes peeled for the group. He thought he saw some people on the road ahead, more outlines than anything. He'd been riding pretty hard to catch up, perhaps his eyes were playing tricks on him? Then a brilliant flash of light lit up the road, a great clap of sound echoed around him. 'Lightning? There isn't a cloud in the sky...what in the nine hells is going on up there?' His mind and horse raced until he reached what looked to have been the source of the commotion. The ground was scorched and there seemed to be a bit of blood, but no one around. He leapt down from his horse, crouching down to inspect the dirt.

Several horses arrived at this point, across from him were a lone set of footprints. To his left, to great revulsion, was a dead horse. Chances were pretty high that this horse belonged to a member of his group. He reached over and felt the beast, the mare's body was still warm. He narrowed his eyes and looked around himself with his hand gripping the hilt of his sword. "Alright...the games are over. Show yourself!" He drew his sword, a piercing shrill of metal against metal rang out as it cleared the scabbard. "I do not know where you are, but I do know you are here. FACE ME!"

Even though she had just told the others that they would be leaving right then, she heard an ever-so-familiar shout not far away. She gave a light tsk under her breath and sheathed her sword. "Meet at the weeping willow a short distance from here. I won't be long," she stated as she set off across the river on foot. Olrun waited on the side of the river for her, clicking his hooves into the ground in impatience.

She walked through the tree-line to the field and witnessed the carnage that Alieth and Veronica had faced first hand. She then saw Wilhelm in the midst of all this, his trusty sword out. She approached and as he turned, she slapped him. It wasn't a hard hit, but with him abandoning them in the morning it left them without an ally. If he'd have been there, things could have ended differently. "What the the name of the Three Gods were you thinking?! You decide to be late and this is what happens. You said you would help, but when we need you, you aren't there!" she shrieked at him.

She realised a moment later she had overstepped her bounds and slunk down a little. "I....I'm sorry, sir. That was out of line, forgive me," she sheepishly admitted in apology.

Another warrior? He's only a human and doesn't seem to be much threat. Still, I have more important things to worry about at this point in time. I still have yet to find the carrier of Kamawanaiyo and kill them to set the Dark Witch free. Once I do that, she'll award me with all the power in the world. Istrea will bow at my feet and I will be the Prince of Darkness under the guidance of my evil Queen, he thought to himself as he healed his stomach wound in the shade of the trees. It was a common trait that demons could heal themselves with a certain element. For a demon like Alieth, it was likely fire was useful in healing her injuries. For a Parasite Demon like him, it was shadow and blood magic that worked.

He read into the aura of the two knights standing in the field. One held much more magical promise than the other, although from the distance he was at and his distraction with healing himself, he couldn't pinpoint which. One aura was also much different than any he had seen before. He couldn't quite put his finger on why, but he was curious and wanted to know more. This group was certainly one he would have his dastardly fun with.

Mother 3 - "Mr. Saturn"

Company: Nobody yet
Mood/Thoughts: I'm booooored
Location: A Weeping Willow
Summary of Actions: Waiting, waiting . . . Time to set up a little surprise for Jaella!
--------------------------------------------------------------

Jesha had plopped down next to a large willow tree. His head slumped down into his palms as a mix of worry and confusion plastered itself on his face. He had gone the right way, hadn't he? Granted the route he took was a skewed mess, but if he knew where he was and who he was waiting for, then they should show up any minute. Slowly rising his head up, he started to grin a grin that said 'I like this idea'.

"I hope she won't get too mad at me for this. It'll be worth it to get rid of this boredom," Jesha muttered to himself as he hopped to his feet and went to go hide from view. Now all he had to do was wait until he heard that special someone coming and he would prepare a marvelous little illusion to make the surrounding area appear as if it were they were heading back into Maeven. Gently bouncing on his feet in giddy anticipation, the bells aborning his outfit jingled slightly before he settled down to wait and surprise his dear friend.

[[OOC: sorry if it's a bit lackluster, but i thought now would probably be the best time to get my foot in the door. If I need to edit/redo just let me know!]]
Abilities:
Acrobatics - A self-taught acrobat, Jesha excels at springing from one place to another through all manner of strange maneuvers be it cartwheels, leaps, or even walking on walls. Also being rather small and quite extraordinarily flexible, he can squeeze himself through tight spaces most would have trouble just fitting their shoulders into.

Fool's Conjuration - Being an entertainer of sorts, Jesha knows some little parlor tricks to amaze his audiences. His most common one is to flick out his hands to create bursts of silvery sparks into the air, raining down like confetti. The other involves creating harmless duplicates of himself that can interact with the world, but may do no harm. Both have very little strain on Jesha, but repeated daily use takes its toll on his energy and requires a day's rest after using them in total of 4 times.

Illusory Magic - Jesha, having felt the need to make his acts more amazing, has taken to learning magic that can alter the perceptions of those around him. Although them may feel very real, everything that happens is akin to a dream and no real danger is present in them. However, using these illusions can be quite draining on Jesha, so he only uses them once per day.

συт σƒ ¢нαяα¢тєя 《》 No, that post is fine. The amount of paragraphs isn't a main concern here, just have a bit to go forward with and you're good for gold. Also, I decided to give Jesha some company!

Ezra had been on the road for weeks, if not months, and was enjoying the sun and the nice weather. With a giddy smile and a whistle, he seemed like an everyday traveller, which was what he wanted to show to the masses around him. Underneath the smile and warm eyes was the mind of an assassin, a member and driving force of the Order of Assassins from Erowyth. He was one of the most distinguished and experienced warriors within the Order and he was filled with pride, but not cockiness, over this fact. It was his mission to hunt down the last member of the Assassin's Guild and the murderer of it's last members; Teivel Nazar. Ezra knew him better under the alias many had given him, the "Parasite Demon of Istrea".

He was brought out of his thoughts when he witnessed a youth in vibrant clothes climbing into a tree. Ezra cocked his brow and shifted the bag over his shoulder of his travel garbs as he approached. He stopped under the tree and looked into the foliage with a smile but his brow still raised. "May I ask why you are climbing trees, little one?" he asked sweetly and kept back the urge to laugh at the childish nature.

Deep down in his gut, he could sense other strong auras nearby. Several were coming close while two were idle and one was fluctuating. The last aura got his attention, as it was likely someone healing themselves. If it was Teivel and he was injured, Ezra could finalize his mission and return to the Order. However, if there were innocents in the area, he would not involve them and decided to let it slide. It was against his moral code to let innocent lives be involved in a fight between assassins.

Jesha was almost to the top of the willow tree when he heard a voice and nearly jumped out of his skin. Slowly looking back down toward the voice, he gave a sheepish grin. "Noooothiiiiing. I just want to surprise my friend. so SSSSSSSHHHHHHHHH or you'll ruin it," the playful young entertainer whined, scampering up between the branches and perching low to hide. He didn't want his surprise ruined, so he decided to craft his illusion before Jaelaa and her friends showed up. Slowly, the surrounding area began to visually warp to reveal Maeven maybe an hour's walk away. However, he was still hidden from view inside a much more fertile tree. Oh it was going to be so much fun when they showed up, if this nosy man didn't expose him.
