My [2007] no0b avatar wasn't a fairy for the first couple of weeks or so, but it didn't take long for her to evolve into a TinkerBell wanna-be. It took me about 2 months of doing a whole mess of puzzles just to earn enough gold to buy her first set of wings! whee

I'm doing pretty okay! Some stuff is hard, some stuff is easier. I have a weird smell in my nose that only I can smell. Been with me a week, now. sweatdrop Is that weird?

Well, knowing you're keeping your feet on the ground is enough. And, I have to admit that that 'is' weird but it really depends on what kind of smell it is. Try blowing your nose or cleaning your nostrils with a hanky, maybe that'll help.

I'm doing fine. We're recovering from the storm that hit the Philippines. Repacking relief goods and joining forces to help the people who were affected all week! It's still sad but it's also a great feeling to know that the world cares for us. c:

I remember the overseer in my aquarium went through a phase of giving out good prizes... I got those wings twice!! I was so surprised because I always wanted them but they were so expensive. xp

It's not a smell I can get rid of. It's pretty much been there my whole life and it brings up very specific memories each time I smell it (like playing Nintendo 64 at my aunt's house at Christmas when I was 6 or playing the computer chatting with a friend when I was 13.) It's very strange. The only other person I know of that this happens to is my sister.

Oh dear, were you hit by it as well or are you helping those who were hit? Either way, I'm glad to see you're still around and doing okay! I keep the Philippines in my prayers. It's great to see the world unite when disaster strikes. emotion_hug

Wearing old GS items like that make me feel so pro sometimes, even though they're so cheap. emotion_awesome Back in the day they were so coveted. It's so strange and sad to see the site shift (whoa, SERIOUS alliteration right there, didn't even try) to where gold is basically useless. emo

I started off with the grey peasant set back in 2005.

Back then I was Necra_Eclips. Gold for me was hard mostly because my computer was so slow, but I soon updated my looks

Eventually though I got off the black phase and went more towards cosplay

And now I kinda just do what ever. I keep it cheap though ads fun to a challenge.

- I usually had no more than 800-1200 gold on my account at any given time.
- 4,000 gold was a LOT!
- 10,000 gold was OUT OF MY LEAGUE.
- 20,000 gold was IMPOSSIBLE.

- I remember the Christian Siriano shop while it was still here.
- I remember a few other gold shops that are now gone.
- I remember when Gambino died.
- I remember when the shops burned down.
- I remember when shops didn't each have an outdoor landing page; you just clicked from the drop-down list and were inside instantly. (The outdoor landing pages are 100% useless and crappy, fyi.)
- I remember when CrosStitch did not have its own shop.
- I remember when CrosStitch items were not marked in any way; you had to read the description to know what they were.
- I remember when Premium Items first had the sparkles added.
- I remember in the Flash spaces when avatars could sit/ stand rapidly (I also remember getting cybered that way... blegh. So glad that was fixed.)
- I remember when Booty Grab was introduced.
- I remember when DC/ Overseer sometimes gave out choice expensive items.
- I remember when Cash Tree did not exist.
- I remember when zOMG was still releasing new areas, like Gold Beach.

Overall, I think Gaia was at its best (for me) around the time DC/ OS gave out really good items on occasion; the introduction of Booty Grab, which I hated to play, but I took advantage of it to rack up huge amounts of gold before it got nerfed; I was gifted an MC right after its release which had the Golden Fleece; and I remember S.I.N. vs B.O.O. was the last really good event I participated in (although I was really upset at the amount of time/ energy that had to be spent to get anything good; I felt that was encouraging unhealthy habits in young people).

That's the Gaia that I miss terribly right now. cry I would love to be able to see those days again.
