My first username was...not the most Internet-safe name to use. So after a while I decided to change it to my current username.

At the time, I was carrying about a Japanese-English dictionary, and was basically looking up words in Japanese.

I learned that hikari = light and yuushi = hero (at least, that's what I thought I learned; I'm still iffy about the yuushi part).

In any case, I really liked the sound of that being my Internet alias/nick name, and thus, on most sites I'm on, I became Hikari Yuushi.

Pretty much everyone online calls me 'Hikari'. And apparently it's gender ambiguous because I've had people look at my avi and think I'm a guy (not my current outfit, mind you).

Anyways, that's all I have to say about that. XP

Has certain amount of rhyme to it.
I used to carry around a Japanese-English dictionary for some study too. Funny thing is Light Hero might be translated into something like yuushi no hikari (hero of light) - just a guess, I'm no frikin expert as I have demonstrated in the past emotion_facepalm . Still it's clever and has a ring to it.

lol, thank you. Actually it's because of that 'hero of light' translation that one time someone decided it'd be funny to call me 'Link' instead of 'Hikari'.

Needless to say, I prefer 'Hikari'. XP

I read a lot, and I think I was reading Magician (forget the author) when I was about twelve, and I found a minor character called "Gemina" but because I was speed-reading I read it "Gerinda" and I thought that sounded really cool. This was long before Gaia - I joined Gaia aged 14 - I used this as a username for ourWorld.com which is a pretty nice all-ages community. After reading on I realised the character was actually "Gemina" and I had accidentally created my own distinctive alias - which I suddenly thought was really cool.

So when I joined Gaia, I decided I was tired of being "Gerinda", and started stringing random syllables together. Eventually I liked "Elyarne" (I say it "ell-ee-arn") and I stuck with it.

I don't think I'll change my name - it's not usually used on the internet except by me, so I think I'll keep the online identity I've created alive. If you google "Elyarne", the top results are usually me on different sites! Except Spore, I accidentally left it to automatically log in on my grandparents' computer and now my little cousin always publishes her messed-up creations in my name redface

I AM R U
Um, it's from a novel I love, the main character is a member of a LBGT activist group and has a badge that says "I AM - ARE YOU?" as in, I am non-heterosexual, are you? For some reason it stuck in my head and it's the online user name I use everywhere... Friends have shorted it to "RU" or Roo, because I'm from Australia xd

Nice, from a book heart

I see how they get Roo from RU, but..........
cute I suppose? wink

They mean well wink

I have changed my name far too many times, but here goes nothing:

These are my last three.

Angealeux: Drakengard is one of my favorite games, so it was a homage to the red dragon Angelus. My mule was named Daemoneux, still is, and was in homage to the black/blue dragon Legna from the same game. This was before I played the second game though, so I did not know his name at the time.

Xaetorase: The fancy shmancy name for my D&D Rogue character. Not her real name, but I thought it was kind of fun for a time.

A Thief Appears: My current name. Basically for the same reason as Xaetorase, but more as a service to myself. I love playing rogue, thief, and overall sneaky characters with high critical capabilities. Also an homage to Pokémon.

Other names:

LIVE

Rogue in a Box: Homage to my rogue preference and to Solid Snake. Eventually I got fed up with hearing "d**k in a box" said instead, so I changed it once, and then again to A Thief Appears.

PS3

Sneaky-Xae: Xae is a sneaky thief, you know. ninja

Steam

Lord Death of Murder Mountain: You get this "challenge" when you kill a bunch of stuff in Fallout: New Vegas. Sometimes I change it to "Not a Medic" because, as a level 6 Medic in Killing Floor, I'm only using the class because it turns you into a TANK, but otherwise Lord Death is more appropriate. emotion_awesome It has also become a running gag with a friend of mine, so changing it ain't gonna happen.

Everything else is either Xaetorase or A Thief Appears. I've decided I can roll with either. cool

Tigrosharu
Seems my post went missing, well Tigrosharu is a OC I made up as a kid she is more or less my dream self with a insane to be made into book/game back story.
I was actually terrified to use my/her name anywhere for years for fear of theft, then when I made a Gaia account everyone presumed I was a Inuyasha fangirl (I was/am) and that was the inspiration behind my name when I actually made the name up as part of the backstory of my OC and it did oddly mirror some of the Inuyasha bit but not completely.
Tigrosharu was her "first name" per say I guess, it is complicated and hard to explain but my OC goes by about 6 main names which are all Alias's including Tigrosharu for her real name that is somewhere in my memory which can never be spoken for various reasons.

Of course these six names are just alias's each time she is "reborn" she gets a new name from the parents..and if they are unaware of who she is at all when it comes time for her to "shift" they can (and some have) all perish as a result of being to near her.

Anyway Tigrosharu is my OC completely, she is not related to Inuyasha or any other anime she is a creation of my mind.
Gaia is the first place I used her name, and if you see someone with this name it is most likely me (I used it a few other places), I also used far older names I believe I mentioned further back but I forgot where they are.

Soo... you're and RPr?
I was never really able to get into or really understand the interest in RP, of course I never really tried it. I could proably totally get int LARP though

It seems you have a lot of thought in your username. heart

More of a writer and she was one of my first creations, besides my hundreds if not thousands of imaginary friends as a kid each with insane backstories and complex worlds they lived in or ruled.
I am going to write or draw those worlds fairly soon, I actually joined Gaia so I could try to get a base avatar/reference for drawing her and a few other characters I have in my mind.

The current avatar is technically a villian in a sense that was banished a long time ago, bound to a stone until some workers decided to try to blast it for materials and well..good news is being stuck on a pocket dimension inside a rock for a few millenia toned her down the bad news is she is still sort of pissed but more goods news her utter fear of being bound to stone again makes it fairly simple for my main OC to keep her from doing anything too destructive.
Ex.
This villain would be in a bar or similar place and when asked about her dreams would go on about something like " I will make this world into my own, bringing in the sands of time and space to alter the very landscape and beings to my.."
Tigrosharu most likely in the bar sees this walks over and says "Rock"
This villain promptly freezes then curls up in a corner rocking back and forth mumbling about how bad rocks are and they won't hurt her.

There is a reason for making her fear the rock though to keep her in check, in fact it is the very reason she was bound in the first place (getting bound to a rock isn't the worst punishment but it is up there and you have to do something pretty bad to get into that sort of punishment)

I can/can't RP Tigrosharu the issue is her character is sort of "godmode" in a way but with responsibility/bound herself beyond reason; very complex storyline is complex sort of a deal really but to put it simply the character has in the past in a attempt to do her job nuked/atomized/sealed a planet to keep something coming out of it from terrorizing the trans dimensional universe.
And that is one of her tame "over reactions".

Ability wise she literally cannot be RP'd, backstory wise she cannot be RP'd, and since she is such a complex character Rping her is impossible I have tried and her entire plot is just far too complex to try to put in anything but a couple hundred books or a video game.

I could RP a few other OC's I have that are related to her story but I am too busy right now to keep active in RPing anyway.

Yes there is alot of thought into my username(and years of storyline perfecting), and I am very possessive of it because it is in a way "my name", in fact one of my OC's alternate names is one I plan on changing my rl first name to eventually.
Tigrosharu also kept me going in a way while I was growing up with a severe illness/mental disorder/trauma that I was told I would die from by 16, being her in her world/dimensions/multiverses and living her life in my mind helped me cope with the horror of my own and the difficulties I dealt with day to day (though eventually they got to be too much and I ran away for years in my head..would of been longer if not for her).
In a way she is a part of me, and without her I probably would not be here today so she is more than just my OC or just a character; she is a dream version of myself and sort of a reason to keep on going when things get tough. When I go to sleep a version of her is there, when I daydream she is there, truth is she is always there in some form and always has been smile

Hope this doesn't sound too corny..

Let's see. I had just watched Martian Successor Nadesaco before I joined and I liked the main char's name: Akito (although I thought it was Akido at the time, like a noob, hence my misspelled name. akida is actually a dog -.-). Just akida was already taken, so I had to mix it up a bit. My friend who was getting me started is the one who chose the last name. I never chose to fix my typo nor have changed it in any way since '03. I have used the kuriyama portion of my name on other games which led me to be called kuri by my friends, which I feel is more my name than my irl given name lol.

I mostly choose my name mainly because of the 'Nyx' part. For Gaia, I altered it a bit, but my username on nearly all websites I make an account on is Nyxxia. Nyx means dark or black. Since I'm African-American, I thought this suited me perfectly.

The 'xia' part is a chinese sort of syllable—it serves as a symbol for my love of asian (Japanese mostly) culture and my complex personality and interests~

All in all, it's a perfect show of who I am, without actually revealing my real life name or combining generic words to create a username (Ex. Anna Carter or AnimeLover). ♥

Sound kinda like Nixon heart

Lol, it's actually pronounced: NIX-ZEE-AH. But, okay~ X3

My very first username was simply "Serif" on a blog site for an author. This name originated from this song, which was one of my most favorite songs from one of my favorite bands when I was 12. It was kind of a spur of the moment thing, but it did have meaning to me. I had an obsession with angels (and rock music, lol), and it was just unique to me. No one else had that name. I had an online friend on that site that would always call me "Fires" (because serif backwards). At first it kind of annoyed me, but then I realized it was a little ironic, since seraphim are supposed to be like...flame-tastic, I guess. I joined another site after that, and the name "serif" was taken. So I decided to make it more unique and more me. I changed the spelling to seraph and added a "Singing". I love music with a passion, still have a slight obsession with angels, it fits the song still, and on top of that, it's biblically accurate. Apparently the seraphim are the ones who sit around the throne of God and sing to him. AND THEY'RE SUPPOSED TO BE SO BEAUTIFUL, THAT IF YOU LOOK AT ONE, YOU'LL BURST INTO FLAMES. Fun, right?
Anyway, so I joined Gaia with the same name a year later, and it's been my name on every single site and game ever since. If you ever find a Singing Seraph anywhere, it's probably me.

My username has never changed. When I first came up with it I wanted something unique. I used to wear this bracelet that said out of control on the inside and I used to D&D as a super smooth half troll. It gave me the idea that I was a Con Troll, which lead to my username: out of controll.

very clever indeed heart

I like usernames that become a statement or a play on a statement, like yours "out of controll"

Thanks, I like your for a similar reason. I love mashing up words that make my mom look at me funny when I say them.

Gaming and computers have been apart of my life since
I was very small ( I was six when I was an avid barbie lover and
often was found on the site).
My first online game was, Rose Online. I loved to sing
and when I was little I thought I was going to grow up to
be the next Selena. My very first username was, Singer831.
Singer for the obvious and 831...well I cannot recall why I used that number lol.
The game that followed was Fly for Fun where I changed my name to
                    Princess Luna.

A year went by and I joined Gaia as xPrincessLuna before later
falling in love with a name from an old latin story, Erythia.
I kept that name for a good long while up until my obsession
with the Final Fantasy series (mainly VII and X) became so crazy
that I attempted every name possible to reflect my favorite characters.
Finally one stuck. I LOVED Yunalesca from Final Fantasy X, she was
both badass, beautiful and sexy, everything my adolescent self, was not lol.
After a play on the name I came up with, Luna Leska.
The name has stuck since and it is my go to for every game I play now.
If you happen upon the name, it might just be me (:
