Kettil, to his credit, at least followed up the fart comment with something better and more credible. So it was not an entire loss! He settled again and then there was another answer brought up he started writing down notes.
* Fear is created by humans and we create that fear by scaring them. * What creates Fear?
...He made a glance at Mot.
- Grumpy reaper boils.
He scribbled that note in small print.
Then he announced, "Um some people might think that xwálxwal--er Spiders are scary," Kettil offered helpfully.
Sometimes words slipped. Endzela sighed and added, "Mayhap they can also fear tall places..?"

"Creepy crawlies," Enzo offered the teacher with a grin, still making eyes at the black-haired reaper girl huddled antisocially beside him. The movement from his arms sent a nice cluster of roaches scurring along his desk and down again, forming rows as though a tiny audience for the impending battle between cat and rat. The rat was not having good thoughts, even as Sharpie took his leave to combust on the desk. Combustible cats seemed more worrisome than normal cats but even so, there were still plenty of cats around. Maybe it should just dive back into the pant leg, but as he tried, Enzo uncrossed and recrossed his ankles, giving the thing an accidental kick. With a shriek, it took off across the floor.

Before they could really talk about the exams more, class officially started and Belladonna waved happily at the teacher when her name was called. Aww, she was so cute! When asked about what created FEAR, Belladonna felt it better to just stay quiet. She was all the way in the back of the classroom and she didn't really want to shout. Not that this classroom was large enough to call for such, but still. She liked to participate in different ways. Plus it was more fun to listen to the other students. But finally the time came for actual participation and the witch paused to consider what created fear for humans. She was going to say something of her own, but noticed Amphi's movements. A quick eye spotted her answer and Belladonna waved too. "Amphi says "drowning"! And I say... Death and dying!" That scared them right silly! Nio Love Derp, sorry for the lack of reply. XD But yes, we'll pretend she acknowledged her as she IS in the class thus far. ^___^;

"Law of the jungle, kid," Monty would have shoved the other familiar away, but then it was already bounding off to set itself on fire. Yeah. They had some real winners in this class. Selene's urging was met with a viciously smug, "Your future!"
He might have been talking about her future, but then he was pouncing after the rat, claws gleaming as the familiar flew through the air. Blood soon followed. The rat's future was looking pretty grim as well.
Offering Enzo a tremulous smile, Emily tried her best to participate, whispering, "Batman...Batman is r-really s-s-scary."

Quote: Fire The Dark Drowning Spiders Heights Creepy Crawlies Death and Dying The Future Batman "Aha! Excellent, excellent answers all!" Even the Batman one? Yes, she looked just as delighted to write Batman down as she had the spiders or the future. "Just off the top of your head you see how many different types of frightening things there are, and so, so many more! We will not waste any more time trying to list even one millionth of all the kinds of fears, however, or else we won't learn a thing else now will we!" She capped her pen, and picked up another piece of clear paper. Three columns were readily written on there, waiting to be filled in. "Today we will start with Glumgut's Categorizational Theory of Fear. It's the simplest one, but it's also so easy to refute! Isn't that fun? Please open up a fresh page of your notebooks, and copy the columns I have listed below. Now, to save time, I will quickly just add in where all of your suggestions go. Then we'll discuss it!" "Now! I think it's obvious what these are, but we'll go over them anyway. Glumgut's Theory categorizes Fear into three main .. categories." She cleared her throat after pausing, when she realized just how repetitive she was being. "Ahh, so there is Tangible, Actional, and Abstract. Tangible is the Fear of things you can see, taste, and touch - and these Fears are usually in the form of nouns. Subsequently, Actional Fears can usually be found in the form of verbs - Fear of falling. Fear of dying. Fear of drowning. Actional Fears are the fear of something happening. But if you look carefully, you'll notice a bit of overlap! We'll discuss that in a minute. Let's move on to our third category, Abstract Fear. This is the most murky and complicated of categories because it's just so hard to pin down! Glumgut himself almost dissipated of a brain aneurysm once when he tried having an intellectual discussion with Professor Slipthroat who refuted his theory entirely, stating-" She bit her lip, silently chastised herself for diverting off the subject, and waved the thought away. "Sorry, sorry, not important. Onto the Abstract! According to Glumgut, Abstract Fears are the mightiest of human woes, because they cannot simply be overcome by growing up or facing it. They are the Fears that will grip a Human throughout his or her lifetime, and may never let go. And they are often Fears that we ourselves suffer through as well. Fear of Change. Fear of Love. Fear of a deity. Fear of no afterlife. These are Fears that humankind inflicts upon themselves - you will not often see one of us creating an Abstract Fear. It is very complex, and very dangerous. And that is why our Trick or Treaters tend to focus on using the other Fears when dealing with humans. It's just cleaner that way. No mess!" She giggled at what she thought was a joke, and moved on. "Now, does everyone see how a tangible Fear can easily be considered an Actional Fear, simply by changing the tense of the word? Can you think of any other Fears like this? Or perhaps, some that can only go in one category? Those are the most rare of all!" The OOC Continue to blurt out answers, questions, or anything you want. And yes, people ARE still welcome to join the class at this time. XD

His hand rose as he wrote down notes and figured out the little chart and he asked, "Well if ya put it that way can't there be a fear of th' already dead? So Death, dyin' an' the dead...?" Kettil kind of peeked up from his notes.
"Wouldn't that be a tangible fear?" It was more answering a question with one of his own to see if he understood what was being asked.
Kettil was simply a bundle of curiosity and dreadlocks.
...At least he wasn't causing more mischief at the moment. Endzela was almost pleased with her Reaper once more. Almost.

Sibyl may have forgotten she was in school. And in school you learn things by going to classes. And classes are run by teachers. Things like that. But you see it was really important she get that fish, and then the lizard really needed her help getting up the tree. And Mister Snake looked so lonely. She had to help them. She had to help them all. And she did. She so totally did. Who else could she he--huh? What was this? She stopped at a classroom door that was left open, voices catching her attention. Sibyl stopped, stepping close to the doorway without going into the class yet. She was hearing questions! Oh hey wait! Right! She was in school! But oh no! Class had already started! She needed something. She needed to make up for being late for class! What to do what to do! If anyone looked toward the open doorway they would see a small Selkie ghoul run flailing by. She returned soon after with..a large fish, soaking wet and fresh from some lake somewhere don't ask where it came from. Sibyl ran in, eyes wide and practically sparkling with joy. "I'M HERE I'M HERE I'M HERE SORRY I'M LAAAAAAATE~!" She then ran straight to Selene, holding the fish out in offering. "This is for you! I'm sorries!"How can anyone stay mad at that face?

A voice issued from the back of the class. "I'm afraid I'm falling for you, doll-face." Someone was curled lazily in a backward facing seat, arms resting on his knees. "That bod of yours is so tangible it makes me wanna action all over your abstract."Click. Click. He twisted around, and heeled boots were propped and promptly crossed at the ankles on his desk, his seat leaning perilously backward. Class was normally something he didn't participate in, as it was super lame, but this new teach was...well. Johnny Danger was feeling a little hot for teacher.

Well, this class turned out to be a little less interesting than Shun anticipated.
"A blade. Tangible. Getting cut. Actional. Failure. Both abstract and actional. " he said in a flat tone... actually answering Selene for once. Perhaps he felt this was becoming a bit of a waste of time, between the professor being late to the subject matter.
"Is there a real purpose to categorizing these things? Or is it really all just a waste of time?" he asked, still deadpan. It didn't feel like it would matter what category something would fall under should they actually work on gathering the fear.
And then he heard JD pipe in to hit on the snake woman. The reaper just shook his head to himself.

Did the room just get warmer? Was it a busted thermostat or were the fires ignited by one Danger-ous rockstar threatening to incinerate panties all across the classroom?
Oh wait, no, it was just the fire on False's desk spreading to her own. Okay. That was nice too.
Emily unobtrusively tried to pat it out,

Quickly writing down what was on the board, Astra made a note to pick up a textbook after the class, then listened to the rest of the lecture. She was sure she had learned some of this in another class, especialy the parts about tangible, actional and abstract.
"Oooh! I know I know!" She then piped up, hand waving in the air. "What about being lost? Thats tangible, and then you can be afraid of getting lost, thats a actional one, right?"
She was right wasn't she? She really hoped so!
---------- While Poke didn't have anything to say int his class, she had at least remembered to bring some notebooks and pens to jot things down. Though hearing JD in the background made her sigh, and she found her attention drifting to a small witch who seemed to have a fire on her desk
Ah, that was why. Faint was here. It was nice to see he was about.

Mot continued writing notes.
: d
And then he got side tracked and started to draw in the margins of his notes while others had their input in class. It started as a doodle of a plant that eats people, and then he drew little buildings, making it seem gigantic. The drawing then evolved as the city scape spilled down the margins of his page to show the roots of the monster leading underground into a metropolis of man-eating plants.

Levi began dragging her graphite bit against the piece of paper she had, making a table to mimic the one Professor Selene had asked them to make a note of and replicate. The tatzel's ears tweaked to this new information she was hearing. Categories of Fear Thoery. It was close enough. The wording might have been off, but she was understanding what was being explained here.
The Professor was asking about things that could go in more than one category and the ghoul thought hard on it. Kettil's death and dying reason seemed to make sense as far as she could tell. What of the others? Hmmm... Placing both elbows on her desk, Levi pondered harder than her tiny brain cogs were used to. Shun was questioning the whole validity of this method of categorizing. The ghoul listened curiously to see what would come of this inquiry.
In the meantime, one hand went back to work writing, scratching out her note about the textbooks. She rewrote the new note about picking hers up at the bookstore just above the strikethrough.

Mitsu was trying to pay attention. She really was. She was a good student! Her notes continued though they started to form illegible scribbles until suddenly... Her pen snake fell from her hands and slithered away to who knows where. On her page was a half made chart with a line that wiggled off the page and across the desk where her hand had dragged it before passing out.

"Fear of the already dead would be considered fear of zombies! I will just put that up here.." She wrote it in under tangible, and nodded. "Nicely done! Of courssssssssssss-" She hiss-stuttered when Sibyl charged in, knocking her pen out of her hand in the surprise of the loud event. She quickly moved to the floor to find the pen again, and whispered up to the new student. "Yes, hello, please find a seat, thank you for coming!" Aha, there was the pen! Selene stood back up and- FISH. She stared at the fish being presented to her. It most certainly was not a rotting apple. But a present was a present.. and this was her first teacher present! So she (carefully) accepted it in one hand, and placed it on her desk. "How.. thoughtful!" The fish slowly began to slide down the tilted desk. "Right. Let's.. let's get back to.. hello!" She heard yet another voice coming from the back of the class, and did not register exactly what he was saying, upon his first words. She was just glad to have more students! And oh, it seemed like he was even listening, as he used all of the categories that- That- Click."Sssssssit down correctly pleassssse, young man, that issss highly inappropriate behavior for a sssssssssssssssssssssstudent." She tried to sound stern, and serious. It came out as a frightened whisper. Oh, she was going to get fired on her first day...Shun's voice was so welcome, that Selene immediately got back to work, writing down the offerings he gave her. Until he questioned the very subject matter she had come to teach. Selene looked absolutely crushed, as she shakily tried to stop writing all over her slides. "Well of course there is a purpose, young man," She whispered. "Knowing the connections between Fears helps you to know what Fears would work with a human better.." It took a moment before she could actually get back to teaching. She silently added in the other suggestions offered to her. "Being lost and getting lost are the same thing, both actional, thank you, good.. good suggestion.." Her heart wasn't yet back in it.
