After a decent pause, she began a short lecture."Our first lesson is on Beedle the Bard. If you could all please copy the notes on the board, I've included most of the important information there. One of the most important things to know about the Bard is that he was a controversial figure in his time, and is still considered to be one by some. His views were ahead of their time, radical for the period. Can anyone tell me why, or offer up any interesting information on the Bard? Or, if you have a question, feel free to ask."She waited, her demeanor expectant and curious. It was always interesting to hear what the newest batch of students thought of the lessons. This first topic had been cleverly selected to allow her to get a feel for them and their beliefs and opinions. Thus far, she hadn't had any students who seemed to follow a strictly purist leaning, for which she was grateful. Tanya walked into Mythology wondering for the third time that morning why she had signed up for the class, especially once she found out it was taught by the exact same woman from before, while she took a piece of paper and grabbed a seat and looked around for anyone she knew. spaceEcho entered the classroom not far behind Tanya, his expression a bit confused as he realized it was the same classroom as his Muggle Mythology lesson. The expression deepened when he realized the woman seated on the desk was the same professor, as well, Professor Harlowe, who taught his other class and always seemed to be sitting next to Professor Powell at meals. She'd seemed very nice in the other lesson, of course, and he had to say, anyone who got along with the history professor was okay in his book. So, all in all he was actually rather glad to see she was teaching this class, too. He took a seat next to Tanya, filled out his form (although he did wonder if it was necessary since he'd done the same thing Monday), and took down the notes. When Tanya posed her question, he glanced up, a curious look on his face. That was... actually a really interesting question. Not that he doubted Tanya or anything, he was just honestly a bit surprised to see her in this class at all, let alone participating. The answer would probably be really interesting.

Theo waked into the class, ready to learn the Mythology of the Wizards. He always had an interest in Muggle Mythology, but he already knew about much of that, which why he did not take the class, which he knew was taught by the same professor. He took a seat towards the front to make sure that he kept his attention on the professor. This was another class in which he did not want to fall behind in, because he would definitely not do well if he had to teach himself everything, which he doubted would be the situation, but it was always a possibility.
He began to write the notes on parchment as the teacher began to speak. He listened to her while he was writing to the best of his ability, but as he was writing the notes, he really couldn't come up with any questions and he didn't know enough about the subject to really add anything. He knew that this was a class he probably wouldn't be contributing much too, but rather more of listening. Of course, he could always read way ahead and know everything, but what was the fun in that. Getting House Points? No...it really wasn't worth it. As much as he wanted to get house points, he knew that he couldn't go throwing guesses at the teacher...which could end up biting him back.
I hated every minute of training, but I said, 'Don't quit. Suffer now and live the rest of your life as a champion.

spaceAmata frowned a bit as one of the students didn't take up one of her forms to fill out. She grabbed it off the desk and approached the boy, setting it down in front of him with a small smile."Please do fill this out for me? I find it typically takes less time than making everyone stand up and do introductions."she told him, offering a small wink. Really, it was only logical; aside from the odd older student doubling up (which she had yet to have happen in either of her lessons), her students all knew one another; they'd been classmates for two years now. She, on the other hand, knew none of them. It was far easier to simply ask them to fill out a piece of paper for her to look over later. After she handed him a form, the blonde went from desk to desk, taking up the forms from her other students. She recognized Echo from her Muggle Mythology lesson on Mondays, but the others were all new. She looked over the forms, frowning a bit at the Slytherin girl's 'interesting fact.' It reminded her far too much of Damien's response on the same form his first year in her class. Why did children always seem to have to grow up so quickly?
spaceAfter she'd looked over the forms and the students had had time to copy down their notes, she smiled. The Gryffindor girl was the first to speak up. Amata's lips pursed at her question, eyes glinting with amusement."The trouble with Mythology is, it's all a mystery. There's no one right or wrong answer to most any question. Usually, there's theory upon theory upon theory, and they all seem to make just enough sense to be plausible. Until the events of the second Wizarding War, most people assumed that the story was just a story. There were some groups who believed it to be true, but they were few and far between. However, when the war happened, that changed. Now people are scrambling to try and answer the dozens of questions associated with the story that have cropped up since it was discovered to be history... but no one will really ever be able to know. Like I said, there are a lot of theories... one of my personal favorites being that the Bard was in a bar one night and saw a man's hand pay for a drink when there was no man attached. He approached, bought a round, and supposedly got the drunken third brother to spill all," ]Amata said with a giggle. The idea of Beedle the Bard being drunk was probably almost as funny as the idea of the famous third brother being drunk enough to tell a stranger about his history. Honestly, of all the theories she'd heard, that was the one that somehow seemed most and least likely. She gave that a moment to sink in and then asked,"Anyone else? Theories you'd like to share, questions, comments?" ]Honestly, she would love to have everyone participate, but if they were going to keep quiet, that was alright, too. It just meant that her former house would be the only one earning points today... perhaps that was bad of her since she was a professor, but hey, she was a Gryffindor, too, after all.

Lesson 2: The Fountain of Fair Fortune
Summary: Enclosed in a magical garden lays The Fountain of Fair Fortune, a magical fountain whose waters are believed to cure the aliment of any bathe in its waters. Three witches, suffering from poverty, illness and heartbreak, travel with an unfortunate knight to seek its blessing. As they travel, each witch faced a trial which helped her to overcome her woes, so that when they came across the fountain, each forsook the right to bathe in its waters, offering it instead to the knight.
Controversy: This tale has long been discounted and discredited by blood purists, who attack it for its depiction of romance between a witch and a muggle. Over the years, there have been many petitions started to have it removed from the library of Hogwarts and to cease its inclusion in publications of the Bardโs tales.
Homework: Write a short essay on the idea of the Fountain and why you think it worked, despite the fact that its waters held no true enchantment.

With a mental shrug she took a seat and waited for the class to start by writing what was already on the board. When the professor stood and began her lesson she paid attention and internally rolled her eyes as they, once again, went over the Beedle and the Bard. Was half their curriculum over this damn book?! But she actually kinda liked the story they were going over so she still paid attention and when a question was asked her hand was one of the first in the air. Summary: A kindly old wizard, who uses his magic to help the non-magical folk of a nearby village, passes away, leaving his blood purist son as their only assistance in times of trouble. The son, however, has little interest in helping the muggles. He is punished for his hard headedness by a magical pot, which his father enchanted to become afflicted with anything those in the village are afflicted with.
Controversy: This particular tale has been subject to two rewrites, for different reasons. Beatrix Bloxam rewrote the tale to make it more appropriate for children, believing that the depiction of the pot was too gruesome for children. On the other hand, blood purists rewrote the tale to completely change the depictions of the father and son. In the original tale, the father is depicted as a kindly old man, and much cleverer than his son. The son, a blood purist, is shown to be cruel and selfish. In the Bardโs tale, the Hopping Pot is a device created by the father, meant to force the son out of his selfish ways and teach him to help the muggles who live in the nearby village as he had in his life. But, in the revised version, the Pot instead is meant to protect the son from the muggles, who attack him for practicing magic. In this version, the Pot gulps most of the villagers, and the wizard tells the muggles that if they leave him alone, they will be safe. Copies of the original story were destroyed to such an extent that it was considered a miracle that any child has heard it. Many wizard children still grow up hearing only the revised edition.
Homework: Write a short essay on the differences between the original story and either of the revised versions.

Theo sat in his seat as the teacher began, being one of the only one's at the class at that point. He wondered where everyone was at the time. This class reminded him of his alchemy class. He felt like he was late, but he wasn't. Maybe he actually did set his watch too far. He had just noticed it in charms the other day, and here the situation was again.
Shaking his thoughts, he realized the teacher had been speaking the whole time. He decided to keep his mouth shut, mainly because he was not even too sure what exactly about 'The Wizard and the Hopping Pot' they were talking about. He really had to get better at these classes, or he was going to be in big trouble.
