BrookM Asmondai GW sure are kind to AdMech players. Not only can I have a Magos on my 1k list when Index dropped in, but now I can also have an Enginseer in that same list with this new codex. eek It warms the cockles of my heart.... I've managed to get my hands on a digital copy *cough* until GW decides to send physical copies to non-GW stores. Had one pre-ordered, but for some reason all non-GW stores do not get theirs until next weekend.. Did a quick flip so far, some new art, loads of extra rules and relics for most of the big forge worlds out there, though I am missing a Skitarii HQ. emo But on the bright side, at least most of the HQ's can fix allied red planet aligned Knights now. 1 wound per turn though.. crying Still need to give it a serious read, but so far, pretty good. Almost tempts me to pick up a few overpriced boxes of Kastellan robots, because you know.. robot spam is good spam!
Ye, Skitarii type could be cool, I´m just happy that everything is in one book *Cought* AS IT SHOULD HAVE FROM THE START GDUB *Cought*. But it is still possible to nominate a Ranger or Vanguard Alpha as a Warlord if you wanna go old school. :3 He wouldn´t get the Warlord traits, but eh; who needs ´em?
1 Wound ye, but with a relic and one of the Warlord traits can help you boost it to 3 wounds straight. 3nodding Or only 2, depends on the wording and how that works with current stacking rules. ninja
I´m more sad about the absence of a transport vehicle, Vanguards ain´t got much worth sitting in the back-line doing squat when they should be at the front debuffing and shooting stuffs.
If your gonna go with the Robots, get the Datasmiths. Sure the extra inv bonus is nice and mortal wounds on 5+ instead of 6 is cool, but they might not do much when it comes to close combats and itś pretty hard to miss the sweet, sweet 18 shots a round per model with the Kastellan protocol. Bring on the Dakka-Dakka-Dakka!

Bring on the Dakka-Dakka-Dakka! Heh, warlord traits are better than ever now, especially now that they're no longer random! If there's one thing I like a lot about this edition it's no longer being completely dependent on the RNG for warlord traits and psychic powers!
The lack of transports is also painful, especially now that the army loses Slow and Purposeful, no longer making it a slowly encroaching army. Other thing really missing for me is an Imperial Knight type, but they may be saving that for the upcoming Codex: Questor Imperialis, whenever that may be. But at least there are two Knight-themed strategems in the book, so they're not completely forgotten.
The Kastellans are a must-have according to many players, it is tempting to load them all up with heavy phosphor blasters and dump them in the path of an approaching horde or other target of high value and just blaze away, especially now that it outright denies cover bonuses and comes with decent stats to boot. Throw in the right canticle and it may just be good enough to earn its points back! sweatdrop

Well yes, but you can choose to randomize if you so wish to. :p
Slow and..... what? Your thinking of Dunestrider maybe. sweatdrop Skitarii we´re pretty mobile in the 7th. Some still are, but not much. :c That maybe so, IK´s we´re more of an addition in AdMech armies so it´s more appropriate I think.
Yep, specially now since you can spen CP´s to quick swap the Kastellan Protocol in any phase. eek

I still need to seriously sit down and fidget around with the codex, I have a fair share of models lying about (about 30 Skitarii, three Dominus, three Kataphron, two Dragoons and an Onager), plus Cawl on the way. But it just happens that GW all of the sudden announced the release of a codex for another army, my main army.. sweatdrop

Aaaaaa. rofl
That´s pretty sizable army to get. surprised Take your time with the main army. 3nodding I went with admech (and greyK) because Dark Angels in Index is pretty meh, except DW and RW companies, waiting either the chapers approve or actuall codex next..

I picked up the actual codex today, so I'll certainly be picking it (amateurishly at that) apart and see what works best for me, though from what I keep hearing, Kastellan robots will most certainly be added in the future!
I also have a Cawl of my own now, so one OP HQ is already present! sweatdrop

Ye, kinda makes you wonder why bother with other Dogmas.... sweatdrop But I choose to be different. I chose...... either Graia or Agrippaa, purely because they would fit for my Finnish forge world. :3
Welcome to Vinland; we make good rye-bread and Koskenkorva. biggrin Both are surprisingly similar colour-wise, so could get away with either depending on the situation. ninja
I painted my Mars pattern because.... old school.... xP With some copper-colored armour plates to give some color with proud Finnish flag on their shoulder. :p
