 "If we head for the future..."

"...Then we can be forgiven for the past." [[Number 1!]]Piedmon was amused as the spire grew into the sky. He was gripping Myotismon by the front of his shirt. The Vampire Digimon was gasping for air and blood was trickling down the side of his face. "Da--Damn it..." Piedmon scoffed and tossed the Ultimate aside like he were nothing more then a rag doll. His attention now turned to the golded beam flying towards him. "Thunder squall." Carelessly waving his arm a sphere of electricity collided with the beam, neutralising it. "A Rapidmon eh? I've dealt with your kind before, I'll come back to you." yawning he turned to the new black spire, a small grin crossed his face as he watched the young Tamer leap about. "Impressive boy. But when using a dark art such as this... Ensure someone isn't around who is even darker!" With a click of his fingers Piedmon caused the attacking Stingmon to freeze. The black gear would begin to spin wildly and shoot out bolts of black electricity. It began carving out the back of the Stingmon sending red code everywhere. "Hmph wild Digimon are no fun." A second snap of his fingers sent all four of the Mega levels swords hurtling into the Stingmon, impaling and killing it instantly. "Come now Kauz. Don't send lackies to do a Tamers job."Back along the way, Mask-Kazu had spotted his prey. "Ooooh, I see someone... TO PLAY WITH!!!" in a screech Kazu dropped into a slouching position, arms hanging low to the ground. "Ohhh Kauz!!!!" At an almost inhuman speed Kazu had crossed the mountainside, darted up the falling rocks and had lept into the air beside Kauz's head. . "Boo!" In a half-spinning half-rotating move Kazu scissor kicked towards Kauz's torso, his attacking leg becoming engulfed in a wildly erratic blue flame. . ""Lights out!"Myotismon dragged himself off the floor. An unknown hand grabbed him and helped him up, Devimon. The dark angel was worried. Looking into Myotismon's eyes he gestured to the scene unfolding. "What's going on?" Myotismon grunted and moved into a sitting position. He had been unable to so much as scratch Piedmon in his Ultimate form and had been beaten to a pulp trying. "Piedmon first offered the mask to Kazu as an escape. When it all got too much he could put on the mask and allow pure instinct to take over. Kazu's mental ability and cognitive processes all increased tenfold while under the mask's spell, but unfortunantly he has no control over his body." A lightbulb went on in Devimon's head. "Oooh! So he's using this time to figure out what to do about Marcus, and to reflect over events and come to terms with them?" Myotismon nodded. "He deserves the break, but it's up to us to keep the Clown and he himself in check. Any other of Kazu's Digimon would be instantly re-absorbed into the Digivice, that's why he chose us to come out. He was teetering on the edge of mental breakdown and so he knew he needed the mask. But Kauz insisted he rest with them, and Kazu couldn't hold it any longer." Devimon whistled in surprise. "Man he's gonna be kicking himself when he wakes up." Myotismon nodded, and got wearily to his feet. "Yeah a little. But I've never seen Piedmon like this before. I suppose it's because the other times Kazu's used it when enemies were around. Piedmon could go all out on them, now we're just wandering..." Devimon nodded, he shrugged "Now that we're wandering he can let loose and go crazy, damn shame these kids are here. Best we make do eh? Let's try taking him on together!" Myotismon laughed and dusted off his tattered clothes. "Ok, one big push... Go!"Back in the fight, Piedmon had turned back to Rapidmon. "Now for you... Trump Sword!" In a flash Piedmon had pulled a white cloth over himself. The cloth floated to the ground as if the clown wasn't there. All would be silet for a moment before... "Why hello there!" Another cloth had apeared behind Rapidmon, Piedmon had emerged from it, sword drawn and slashing at the Rapidmon, but before his blade made contact two figures tackled the Dark Master to the ground. "Fools! Infidels! Idiots! Get off of me! Thunder Squall!" A burst of lighting sent Myotismon and Devimon hurtling off the clown and smashing into the ground, leaving a crater in their wake. "You! You will pay for this!!!" Getting shakily to their feet Myotismon and Devimon grinned "Bring!" "It!" " ON!!!" Myotismon dove forward, both his lightning whips poised and ready to strike "Crimson Lightning!" Devimon followed up behind "Sho! Lend us a hand! Nightmare Wave!" A burst of dark energy flowed over Myotismon's whips changing their colour to a more purplish hue as he struck at Piedmon...

Sho watched as the demented tamer sped across the mountainside to Kauz, he new that it couldn't end well. He himself had witnessed the power of a skilled digisoul user but that couldn't compare to the strange power that Kazu now commanded at the moment, "It's that damn mask, it's got to be." Rapidmon turned at high speed, just fast enough to catch a glimpse of Piedmon before Devimon and Myotismon tackled him to the ground, he was beginning to start to rethink this fight. He clearly loved fighting but this strange mega level was far out of his league.
Sho spun around as he heard his name being called, ""Sho! Lend us a hand!". He saw the two lower level digimon attempting to fight the superior, mega level dark clown, Sho grinned. This was the perfect time to ally himself with Kazu, if only he could make the digimon respect him then Kazu really had no option. "Rapidmon, go help them! Garurumon you stay here" Garurumon put himself between Kazu and Sho, "You got it."
As soon as Rapidmon heard his name being called he new that he was to re-engage in the battle with Piedmon, he sighed. For some reason he wasn't enjoying this fight as much as he normally did, "Atomic Blast!!" A huge explosion of red energy erupted from Rapidmon's arms flying directly for Piedmon and just missing Myotismon.

The control spire, the black gear and the Stingmon all dissolve into data
Tentomon, absorb that data!
OK!
Kazu's strike lands right on target, rolling Kauz straight into the wall
Argh! lets go! skeleton style combat!
Kauz then begins letting his body go limp, running at Kazu, swinging his arm upwards using his momentum to swing his hand into Kazu's abdomen

"...Then we can be forgiven for the past." A maddening cackle erupted from Kazu's weird masked face. "BWAHAHAHAH!!! His screeching was cut short by the sudden assault from Kauz. A powerful blow was struck to his torso, sending an audible cracking noise into the air. With almost subconsious reactions Kazu folded himself backwards into a handstand to carry the force, pivoted over and back onto his feet. "You've gone all limp boy! Let me stiffen you up!" Kazu dropped to one knee and rolled to Kauz's left using the momentum of the roll and a strong push off to shoot himself at the boy with fist drawn back: "Sticks and stones may break my bones but madness will drive me forth!!!" He flung his fist at Kauz's torso to head area, laughing madly. Back on the battlfield of Digimon Piedmon had clocked something. A sigh from one of the participants. With a swirl and a thrusting of his arms he sent Myotismon and Devimon flying. Staring at the incoming red energy he lifted a finger. "What's wrong bunny? Bored?" the tip of his finger glowed green as he traced a zero then a one in the air, the green glow remaining in the air in the shape of the numbers. "Binary Crusher!" From the numbers he had drawn thousands more swarmed forth creating a barrier of sorts, as Rapidmon's energy hit the numbers it would transform, maintaining it's momentum but becoming no more then etheral, red 1's and 0's. They brushed past Piedmon harmlessly as they dispersed along with the wind. As the numbers, green and red alike, scattered across the mountainside Piedmon grinned at the Rapidmon. "I can sense it in you. The love for battle. The thriss you get when going toe to toe with another. Knowing your life is on the line, making every move you make count! I can relate to that bunny. And for that you gain my kudos, who knows maybe I'll let you live so we can battle again one day!" With that all four of Piedmon's swords came into the air around him, floating menacingly. A smirk corssed his face as he, and his blades vanished. "Chaos Slash..." he whispered, re-appearing behind Rapidmon. From the ground Myotismon dragged himself back to his feet. Looking up he saw Piedmon's movement. "Oh Gods no... Rapidmon move!"As Myotismon's voice would reach the armoued rabbit, thousands upon thousands of blades would appear in the air around Rapidmon, each pointing at a different angle to that last. They would hover for about a second before they all launched themselves at ridiculous speeds. It would take Rapidmon every ounce of speed and all the luck in the world to escape without at least a few cuts. Myotismon cursed, slamming a fist into the ground, a spluttering sound told him Devimon was still alive. "What the hell... Do we do now?" He was lying on his back, his usual leather clothing cut open and blood seeping through. At only Champion level he had never stood a chance against Piedmon and he had known it. Myotismon coughed, blood splattering the floor where he was face-down on. "Urk... I don't know. We've got to help Rapidmon... He can't hold off Piedmon forever..."

Sho glanced over to the fight between the tamers, as strong and unusual Kauz's fighting style may be Sho quickly realised that it was no match for the superior experience of Kazu, and that was without taking into account the unknown power that the weird mask was giving him. Sho decided not to enter the fray, he certainly didn't want to fight weird mask Kazu.
Rapidmon watched as his attack was easily avoided by the mega level, he quickly thought back to the clowns last attack and as Piedmon shouted out and teleported Rapidmon whizzed around to face backwards. Piedmon's cry resounded through the air and Sho quickly turned around only to see thousands of blades appearing next to Rapidmon.
Rapidmon looked forwards to see the demonic clown in front of him, he only had half a second to weigh up his options before the swords would fly down and impale him, "Boost On!!!" Rapidmon's thrusters flared brightly as the mecha-bunny digimon launched itself directly at the Piedmon, a loud crack filled the air as Rapidmon broke the sound barrier but already the swords had started flying at the digimon. A few caught him and caused grazes along his side but the bunny digimon kept going, "Gatling Punch!!" Rapidmon started to raise his fist so that he could continue his combo if he managed to hit Piedmon.

Kazu's blow lands straight into Kauz's torso, launching right back into the impact hole of the last blow
hehe.... lets try this!
Kauz rolls out of the hole for a second time, and seeing the result of the digimon combat, swings his left foot towards Kazu's legs, in an attempt to trip him up
Tentomon! Over here and use Electro Shocker on Kauz!
Wha!? i dont think thats right Kazu...
DO IT NOW!

a blue beam of static electricity flew towards Kazu as Kauz's strike lands, running through both bodies

"...Then we can be forgiven for the past." "BWAHAHAHAH!!! as Kauz's blow landed and the electricity blasted through the pair, Mask-Kazu burst out laughing. "Ahhrrrgh! This. Really. STINGS!" Kazu, now swept off his feet by Kauz's attack, rolls in the air and grabs Kauz's foot. Landing, and still being fried, Kazu swings Kauz and hurls the Tamer away. As the electricity dies down Mask-Kazu stands perfectly still. Smoke raising from his singed and burnt clothing. "You brought your Digimon into this fight. How'd you like it if I brought in mine?" the motionless figure jerked a thumb towards Piedmon. ""D'you think you'd last half a second against a mega like him?"Piedmon was confused, the rabbit had dodged most of the blades. And now his fist was embedded quite firmly into the centre of his chest. He was now being driven backwards at an alarming rate by the bunny. "Colour me impressed rabbit. That you can hit me is one thing... That you have harmed me is something all the more interesting. Rapidmon's attack drove the pair into the side of the mountain. Piedmon remained stationary as Rapidmon's fist kept him pinned to the rock. There was the briefest flicker of emotion, anger. Then an eruption of it. "How dare you!" The rage filled the clown's body, causing him to glow in an eerie black/red aura. "Take this. Dark Pentagram!" Piedmon slammed his hand into the mountain-side viciously. From the point of impact a swirling pentagram formed, the same colour as the angry aura surrounding Piedmon. With Rapidmon's fist pressing against him Piedmon smirked. "Fire!" An astonishing blast of black/red energy erupted from the side of the mountain like a volcano, shooting into the distance, burning the air and shaking the ground, engulfing Piedmon instantly and probably catching rapidmon at point-blank aswell. Back on the ground Kazu felt strange, he felt angry, the same anger Piedmon was feeling... But for a different reason. "Get off! Get off me you b*****d!" both hands shot up to his face and grabbed the mask. Kazu tugged, pulled, ripped at the mask but to no avail, then with all his twisted, mask-enduced strength he tore the mask from his face, a look of surprise evident. "I'm back... Damn." In a swirl of green Digi-Soul next to his eyes, Kazu's spikey black glasses reformed as the Tamer collapsed to the ground in a heap. Devimon and Myotismon watched in horror as Piedmon launched his devastating attack. Devimon shut his eyes and crumpled to the floor while Myotismon slammed his hand into the ground in protest. "Damn it! Now what the hell do we do!?" when no response came from Devimon Myotismon lept to his feet and staggared over to the Devil Digimon. "C'mon buddy, keep with me." Devimon grunted and opened his eyes again "There a'int a point in trying. Piedmon's too strong and we can't access our higher stages..." Myotismon didn't want to agree with him but it was all true. Just as he was about to give in, a flash of green came from above them. Kazu had taken off the mask. Myotismon grinned. "No worries Devimon... The kid's back. We can relax now..." Both virus Digimon shut their eyes and sighed in unison as they broke down into light and flew back to Kazu's Digivice. As he was surrounded by the chaotic, swirling energy of his Dark Pentagram attack, Piedmon recognised the change. "No! No,no,no,no! That blasted boy! Why could I not sustain this madness a while longer!? Why must my chaotic dance be ended this way!!!" Transforming into a sphere of light Piedmon was warped back into Kazu's Digivice as the Dark Pentagram settled down, leaving a pentagram-shaped burn on the side of the mountain. Kazu lay unconsious on the ground as the chaos of the past few minutes settled.

Rapidmon grinned as he drilled Piedmon back into the mountain, maybe he really could hold hid own against this mega-level, too busy punching Piedmon Rapidmon didn't notice the growing darkness behind him until it was too late, "What the!!!?? The darkness erupted and blasted through Piedmon and into Rapidmon, in the blast of energy he was thrown backwards through the air reverting back into Terriermon before brutally landing on the floor in a scorched heap.
"RAPIDMON!!!!" Sho rushed over to the side of his downed partner, his mind became clouded with rage and anger, this time all Terriermon had been trying to do was help. Sho turned around and glared at the unconscious Kazu with a fierce look in his eyes, all he wanted to do right now was kill that stupid tamer, he'd caused them all nothing but misery and he no-longer deserved to be breathing.. Suddenly Sho was caught in the back with an explosive tackle, "Sho.." breathed Garurumon, "Calm down, it wasn't Kazu's fault, he was being controlled. Sho's eyes moved up to meet Garurumon's, Garurumon met his gaze unflinchingly with a piercing glare. The anger drained out of Sho as quickly as it had arrived, he laughed, "Of course you're right Garurumon, you're making quite a habit out of it. Now would you mind letting me go?" Garurumon sighed with relief, "With pleasure.", he stepped away from Sho and Sho calmly stood up.
"My God, it's getting worse, even if this is the power I've always dreamed of. This anger that takes me over every time I need power, it's not mine. But who else's could it be. Thankfully I have Garurumon though, for some reason he's not affected by my digisoul but still I need to stop relying on this power so much. Who knows, one day it could take me over entirely.
Sho picked up the wounded Terriermon in his arms and started to cradle him, "Well I guess we just sit here until one of them wakes up then."

tentomon proceeds to make sure Kazu/Kauz are ok, with Kauz beginning to stir, but very weak
wow, he really meant to fight... Kauz, whats wrong with you?

"...Then we can be forgiven for the past." Kazu groaned. Waking up to a blurry world, a thumping in his head and pain all over his body. His chest ached, possibly a broken or fractured rib? As his vision cleared Kazu could see his clothing was smouldering. "Bugger." Pushing himself to his feet Kazu held his arms out, green energy spiralled around him, patching up the holes in his clothing and restoring them to their full quality. "Blimey... That wasn't half weird." Kazu scratched his head and stretched, wincing from the pain. Looking around he saw a few craters and a giant pentagram burnt into the side of the mountain. "Ahh... That was probably my fault..." He noticed Sho and waved. "Hey! You ok down there? I guess I have some explaining to do huh?" he laughed weakly before turning to Kauz, "Jeeze kid, you've got a hell of a punch. Sleep tight while I check over with Sho." Nodding to Tentomon Kazu began a slow climb towards Sho. After a minute or two Kazu hit the bottom of the mountain and was by Sho's side. "Hey bro. How you holding up? I didn't hurt you or any of your friends did I?" genuine concern crossed Kazu's face. "I'm so sorry Sho... I should have waited until I was on my own before using the mask. It was reckless of me, and I deserve any ill-will you may hold against me. I just hope I can make up any harm I may have caused." With a weary smile Kazu held his hand out to Sho.

Sho looked across at Kazu sitting next to him, the tamer seemed genuinely concerned as to the destruction he'd caused. Sho didn't see why, in fact if he could do that then he would if just to show off his power. Kazu, however, seemed to be wanted a response.
Sho grasped Kazu's hand firmly, "Don't worry about it, I'm still ok and you only knocked Kauz unconscious. Boy though that's some power you have, care to tell me your secret." A multitude of thoughts crossed Sho's mind as he began to shake Kazu's hand, most to do with getting revenge on Kazu but Sho discovered that he really harboured no ill will against this tamer, in fact he should be grateful, but his digisoul perverted every kind thought he had, Sho wondered if the digisoul was actually worth it.

*A few seconds in Network City:
"What the-" Mike exclaimed after he heard Tortomon's warning. However the blast did reach them. Mike last action was holding Dragord in his arm, making one useless but instinctively effort to protect his partner. Suddenly, everything started to look... blank. Mike couldn't move at all, with a lot of effort he was capable to distinguished some sort of bubble around them... like a shield. As far as he could tell, the blast that was supposed to kill them all, just vanished. Then he could see two figures next to Brian, everything was getting blurrier, to the point of going black.
*In File Mountain:
"Hey... Mike... please wake up" Mike heard, he could quickly identified his partner's voice. Mike was face-down on the floor and tried to sit down, his body felt quiet shaken up. Although it was far better have a shaken body than a destroyed one. "Dragord... what happened?" Mike muttered in low voice, finally managing to sit down. "It's okay Mike, I couldn't see anything before the blast, but I believe we are fine. At least for now" Dragord said to Mike, trying to give him some comfort. Mike looked around for Brian and his partner, they were just a few meters away from them.
