I think that's cause the parents were desperate and had to scramble at the last moment to find someone to babysit. Kindof amusing since babysitting is a newer profession really. People used to not want to trust their kids at all with strangers.

point, i usually make like 5-6 dollars an hour, but a also usually babysit for close friends of the family and i get alon gwith the kids so i normally dont want to et paid for chilling with the cool little kids.

*nods* The reason the urban legend sprang up to begin with was to stir that fear of leaving your kid in the care of strangers. Same thing with the dog licking the hand story too.

I used to read a lot of old urban legends when I was younger.. There is one about a girl who is babysitting, and she has her dog trained to check on the kids, and if everything is all right the dog is supposed to lick her hand (basically she is lazy). So she hears some strange noises, but the dog comes down and licks her hand... well eventually she gets up and checks upstairs and written in blood on a mirror is a message that says "Humans can lick too"
A bit quick and summery, but I think it gets the general points.

ah i've heard that one.
yeah, a girl i led on once, then dropped like yesterdays news, twas the first and only time i ever did something like that. *Still hasn;t forgiven himself* and she forgave me but she's still stuck on me. but she's a friend.

Ahh, that sounds like a rock and a hard place. You're still punishing yourself for what you did, but at the same time you don't like her enough to want to be together in that way.

*shrugs* i'm confuzzled in what to do about her, she's had a boyfriend for a while, but the funny thing is, he';s a complete a*****e to her, and despises me because i hurt her emotionally. *shrugs*
