Ruthless This is a ruthless world and one must be ruthless to cope with it.
The Fighter sighed and stepped fully inside the overhang. He leaned against one of the support poles and stared up at the ceiling. "I remember being angry all the time, trying to start fights with anyone, even if there wasn't really anything there. I heard voices, I'd say at least half of the arguments I got into were with the voices. They wouldn't let me sleep, barely let me eat." Shuichi absently rubbed at one wrist that was marked by a faint scar, both were if one cared to look. These weren't the scars of having slit his wrists, they were the remnants of scars caused by chafing from being restrained. "I'd rather not have to go back there." His ears went fully back and his tail fluffed out a little. Very real fear at the memory burnt back the haze that his drugs brought on.

"You're a Fighter, Shuichi. You're MEANT to start fights, especially when you consider who your Sacrifice is." Ryoji replied, watching the boy carefully.
The purple-haired student had no intention of being a force for good, nor a neutral force. HE wanted the Ruthless team... and what HE wanted... HE got.
"Stay off your medications." Kamiya said, pushing his glasses up with his left middle finger. "If you find this impossible, then you'll stay at my apartment until you're off the medications. I need you in your right mind, not blubbering like some buffoon."

"I'm supposed to start fights? Over what exactly am I supposed to fight? Or is it just some sick fetish you have?" He wasn't exactly annoyed yet but it was getting close. Knowing that the arguements he'd gotten into were because he was a Fighter didn't necessarily make it easy to accept. As for the rest well, he might be a goob but he didn't think he was quite funny enough to be a buffoon. Shuichi had a feeling that staying in Ryoji's apartment wouldn't be a pleasant experience. His cat ears lowered a trifle. "I'll try to stop taking them, I just hope you are prepared for the results."

Smirking darkly, Ryoji pushed his glasses up. "I'm prepared for anything, Shuichi-kun." Yes, he despised using his Fighter's first name... but he wasn't about to distance himself from someone who, the student now knew, was going to need a lot of training and a lot of control in the very near future. "We're fighting for a greater purpose. But... perhaps one day I'll let you meet the person who pulls our strings. For now, you're a danger and until you learn how to properly fight... I can't let you near HIM. Are we clear?"

He wasn't quite sure what to make of the use of his first name with that familiar tagged onto it. Still what was the point of arguing it?

"ME?" Ryoji put a hand on his chest, before he broke out into laughter. Well... it was actually more of a creepy laugh, like the sort of sound that would signal a dangerous outcome. Or maybe even the end of the world.
Chuckling slightly, the violet-haired student shook his head. "You must be joking to think me a puppeteer, Shuichi-kun." He was changing tactics on his Fighter. Mainly because he needed the young man to obey him without question... and either fear or trust was going to win him that ability.
Standing, Kamiya brushed off the back of his pants. There certainly were perks to no longer having one's tail... "You're my Fighter. I'm your Sacrifice. We work as a team... or we don't work at all. And if you think," his purple gaze flashed dangerously. "That for one second, that I'm the one giving US our orders... then you're sadly mistaken. I give YOU orders, Shuichi. And I get my own orders from HIM... so don't you dare make the mistake of thinking me god in this game... because I'm not. I'm just a messenger and YOU are just a tool. Nothing more."

Shuichi stiffened when he heard that laugh. It didn't seem sane to him, and he knew crazy. At least he seemed to be picking up on the sudden change of his Sacrifice's mood. He took a nervous step back when Ryoji stood, his back coming in contact with one of the supports of the shelter. It wasn't exactly fear, but the look in the other student's eyes made him edgy. Something told him that he would never be in control of his life, between his foster parents, his medicines, and now Kamiya. The pink haired student shook his head, but there really wasn't anything that he could deny, it seemed true to him- even if he didn't like the way it was presented to him.
"What does he want then? I can't just fight anyone without a reason." That much was true at least, he might be drugged clueless most of the time but he tried to be a decent person. . . most of the time. The rest of the time, well he acted like any boy his age would. "There is something else I'd like to know." He decided he needed to think about what Ryoji was saying, more than that he really wanted to be somewhere else, but not quite ready to make a break for it. "How am I supposed to do what they were doing in the classroom?"

Ryoji paused for a second... this was going to be difficult... especially given the circumstances. "You'll fight who I tell you to, obviously. As for HOW to fight... I'll go into detail on that once your head is clear from the drugs. They'll only inhibit your natural talents. Hell, right now I'm doubting you can even sense the bond that is between us, or the bonds of the other Fighter/Sacrifice pairs in the school. Until you can sense that, until that starts to drive you mad of it's own accord... you won't be able to properly absorb any lesson I can give you."
He noticed how his Fighter seemed to be a bit edgy... wariness was good, but this kid bordered on just plain flighty.

"What. . . I. .. Obviously I felt something if I knew who YOU were." Shuichi pointed at his sacrifice with one finger. He didn't really think he'd be a good fighter, when he was off his medicines he'd just be a crazy, possibly violent fighter. The pink haired student shook his head. "Are you sure you want to deal with the crazy person I'll be once the medicines are gone? I mean. . . well. how are you gonna hope to keep me in line?"

Uki was taking his time licking his ice cream. Occasionally, it would drip on him and he would just lick it clean. His sister would punish him if he wasted any of it. When Suna finished his much faster, he eyed him as he went to wash off. The boy was so fun to watch and so adorable. Uki shook his head as an image came into it before continuing to lick his ice cream but a little faster.
Suna came back, and sat on his lap. He's really light thought Uki staring off into space. When Suna spoke, he was caught off guard. What now? Was he expecting him to know what to do next? Have a plan on what to do, where to go?
"What would you like to do? You are my sacrifice and i am your fighter. You are free to do whatever you want to me, make me do whatever you want. So really, what do you want to do now?"

—Devoted— “Until death and beyond” General Science class dragged on for Emi, in some ways she was anxious to talk to Youko and in other ways she was not looking forward to lunch at all. When the class finally ended, she took her time re-packing her bag and lingered in the university’s halls before entering the lunch room. Even so, Emi couldn’t help smiling when Youko waved at her. The girl had already picked out a table for them to share.
“So, how was Quantum Mechanics?” Emi asked with more cheer than she felt as she took a seat across from Youko. While she waited for the girl’s answer, she took out her lunch and began to nibble on a cheese bagel she had hastily packed that morning. The Calculus quiz she’d been scrabbling to review for had almost made her forget to pack a lunch. ‘How am I going to work in the topic of our bond?’ Emi wondered nervously. ~ Hisa had been paying close attention to the fight once she had picked up on the lyrical aspect of spell battles. She could appreciate the ironic beauty of poetry that could cause physically harm. The quip, “The pen is mighty than the sword,” could be quite literal in this world. Hisa smiled, ‘I guess I have a newfound appreciation for Emi’s love of literature,’ she laughed inwardly, ‘I’ll have to ask her if I can borrow some of her beloved books. I can’t wait to see her expression,” Hisa nearly chuckled aloud as her smile turned into a grin.
As the fight came to its climatic point, Hisa could barely stay seated. The vividness of each side’s attacks, were breathtakingly beautiful and just as equally deadly. Light clashed against darkness and then, Verikai went down on his knees as he issued his last attack. Hisa looked to Rauko to see if he would declare it a draw; the Sleepless pair was incapacitated, as well. She could feel the pain radiating off of Verikai and felt a great deal of admiration for him. It took a lot of guts to feel that awful and be silent.
It was then that Hisa heard the rather loud clunk on a few desks away from her. Glancing quickly over, she saw that the pink haired kid named Shuichi had fallen asleep of all things! ‘Maybe I miss judged him on his interest in fighting…’ Hisa thought annoyed with the boy, ‘I’m not sure he has any more redeeming points left.’
When Ryoji about hissed at Shuichi and then ushered him out of the classroom for a second time, Hisa knew it would probably be another round of the same treatment the kid had received earlier. A bit worried, she hoped Rauko would notice and intervene. It wasn’t her place to pick a fight with Ryoji, just yet. —Relentless— "Relentless to survive, Relentless to protect— Relentless in life."

Devoted "Until death and beyond"
Youko waited patiently at a table, the same table she'd sat down at that morning. The table where she met her first and only friend. When Emi did walk in, she waved at her with a bright grin on her face.
"It was alright. Sensei had me study in advance so I knew all the answers," she said smiling. It was true. Sensei instructed her to be able to quote each book she read word for word, and she wasn't allowed to stop reading them unless she was going to recite the book word for word to prove she knew it. If she could, she could stop for brief breaks, but had to restart on a new book as soon as her brief break was over.

Smirking darkly, Ryoji nodded. "Trust me... I can keep you in line. After all, it didn't take much in the bathroom earlier, did it?" the man shrugged slightly. "Besides, when your mind is functioning, as it should, as a Fighter, you'll be easier to control. Thus, being off your medications should actually make things considerably easier... especially in the area of teaching you how to properly fight."
