He stared at the nekomata in surprise. Those are surprisingly nice words. The male smiled warmly and nodded. Not like he'll want to get rid of Seimei anyway, not after they become this close. "Those are some surprisingly inspiring words, Seimei." He said and looked back at the sky.

Still, those words took him by surprise. The same exact words his friend told him and look what happened. Yuki noticed Seimei seemed confused by his words before the topic was changed. He chuckled. "Very well, we can stay out a bit longer, I think." He said and crossed his arms. "Indeed. This place is a desolate land and even if we did find some nice place, it'll either be filled with mutated animals or raider territory." He paused. "Maybe someday we can get out of here and travel around again."

The next words surprised him, too. Yuki coughed and faced away from the nekomata to hide a blush on his cheeks. The darkness helped but he's not sure how sharp Seimei's sight can be. "Uh, yeah. Thank you, Seimei." He mumbled and calmed himself down for a few minutes.

The feline wondered what the surprise was about. After what they survived together, how could they not stick together. And even though the part about the sky was just something he heard someday, though he forgot where, and liked and thought back to sometimes, it ringed true. They could keep it in mind if they ended up separated for a while.

The feline rested his head on his arms and looked up at his new friend, his ears perked and forward while he listened to Yuki. The nekomata smiled gently when the other agreed to stay out a bit longer. It wasn't like rest would put him back to full energy anyways. He needed to siphon some negative energy for that. For now the feline was content sitting here and wondering about the nice feeling that the petting had given him while spending time with Yuki.

Not even the captain had petted his head a lot like that, but it was surprisingly soothing and Seimei almost wanted to ask Yuki not to stop but he wouldn't. His gaze shifted back to the sky above them for a moment as he thought about the captain. For the feline he had always seemed to have been a friendly man that genuinely cared. It had more felt like he lost someone dear to him in that mutiny by the crew.

Despite the slight distraction it didn't escape Seimei's attention that his friend had looked away and sounded a bit weird. In answer the feline had tilted his head, his ears flicking a bit while his tail swayed behind him softly. He could see real well in the dark, be it grey tints. The feline might have noticed the blush if Yuki hadn't looked away. For now it just left him slightly puzzled. "Are you feeling alright my friend?" he asked curiously as he lifted his head some to check in on the other.

"I'm fine." He mumbled and sighed, going back to his earlier position as if he didn't move at all. "I am not... used to being told those words. Sorry."

Other than being thanked for help, Nobody had really told him they were glad they met him. For all he knew, he brought death to whoever befriended him. What happened at the forest was a close call but who's to say it won't happen again? He already lost a family and a... dear friend. He won't allow Seimei to be death's next victim. He already decided as such.

He flinched and looked around, tense, nervous. He can feel eyes on them but from where, he couldn't tell. Just when they were weakened, too... Before he could think more about it, the feeling disappeared. A passing gaze? Perhaps. He's not comfortable about it. "Seimei, do you want to walk around?" He asked.

"Hmm..." came from the feline as he watched his friend as they said they were fine. They sure didn't look fine. But if they didn't want to talk about it, who was he to make Yuki? Instead the feline stood up a bit as well and stretched, his hand still on the building. Once he even stretched his tail he looked back at his friend again when they moved again. They seemed...spooked? It was really strange, but Seimei didn't want to pry and perhaps cause Yuki to be annoyed with him.

"Sure a walk sounds good." he replied and smiled a bit. As long as they wouldn't start running, he should be fine. Until he recharged himself with negative energy, the nekomata would not be the strongest. Still it was only temporary. The feline pushed himself off a bit and stood ready. "Where shall we go?" he asked Yuki.

Really any place would do, it looked like his friend needed the walk more than him, but Seimei would be happy to accompany them. After all they were companions now weren't they? They traveled together, fought together and worked together. Seimei was enjoying this new set up and the friendship.

Yuki thought for a moment. "Anywhere our feet takes us, I guess." He answered. He didn't have any destination in mind but walking around and scouting a part of the city seems good enough for now as long as they know the direction back to the inn.

He took Seimei's arm gently and started to walk while looking around. If things turn bad, he'll protect the nekomata since it looks like Yuki is the only one of the two who is able to put up a fight for now. He made sure the walk is slow, assisting the nekomata in case he needed it.

"I guess we can use this time to learn more about each other, yeah?" He asked. "Anything you want to ask me?"

Seimei waited for his friend's reply and chuckled when they spoke of their plan. "Just walk and see where it leads us huh? We best keep an eye on where we go though. We wouldn't want to worry poor old Bardo." he spoke and smiled, standing more upright. It hadn't escaped the feline that their kind and generous host was getting on in years. But they were still quite active it would seem. It was admirable. "Let's go my friend. I could use a nice stretch." the nekomata said and smiled.

Seimei was slightly surprised when the other took him by the arm and blushed slightly. He wasn't as crippled that he couldn't walk by himself, but then he noticed it was more a loose hold and not one of a man that thinks they need to keep someone standing up. The feline would be useless in a fight, but he was strong enough to walk. Nonetheless he allowed the other to keep a hold of his arm and the nekomata walked with his friend to look around.

Loose from a few trip moments or two, Seimei was doing fine and it was more because he still felt stiff from their previous battle. He silently thanked Yuki for keeping a slow pace so he could walk pretty much unaided. The feline did very much enjoy walking like this though. Close to Yuki. He told himself it was because these lands were dangerous. His ears twitched a bit when he heard the other's question and he tilted his head slightly as he thought quickly. Something he wanted to ask Yuki? Seimei didn't want to get to personal though, in case his friend wouldn't like that. "Well, where are you from?" he asked a simple question first. It was a safe one and they could build from there.

Honey
Honey didn’t feel any of the putative benefits of their exercise--he didn’t feel any magic that might conceal his antlers, there wasn’t any new clothing that could have been used to conceal him.

Nonetheless, he moved forward, grasping Lokeah’s hand firmly as he pulled them both away.

He knew the way to the Silver Claw Inn, having been there a small number of times to pick up goods St. Vier had purchased for particular occasions. Honey didn’t know them, but St. Vier must surely have some reliable method of receiving food. He certainly had not been that method.

Arriving now, he’s brought up short by a mixture of familiarity and ill content. This is an odd place, a place that should not exist in this world. He’d admired it, as a slave. He was unsure if he wantedto sully it with his presence now, as a runaway.

He took a thick breath, biting into the side of his cheek as he pressed into the entryway.

There was no one there to greet either him or Lokeah, that Honey could see. That was probably for the best.

”…Hello?” he called, not knowing what else to do.

It was right to place his trust in the other male and they were able to reach the doors of the inn quite quickly. Lokeah had never been here himself… it always looked unsafe. Too well kept like a master’s home with too many unknown individuals passing through.

He didn’t know why, but he didn’t pull his hand from Honey’s this time. A dangerous thing, but something that allowed him to give the other males hand a little squeeze when he showed signs of discomfort. A reflexive act of comfort despite knowing full well that this man was so loyal to their former master.

Lokeah’s eye’s wandered as the two entered the establishment, bouncing from the environment to the few creatures that it contained. Why was there such a lack of distrust in the eyes of these people? Was it really so safe within these walls? If it was so safe… then why was there no guards, or people keeping watch of this lobby like area? Despite these observations, he liked it. Perhaps too much.

He leaned against Honey and brought his free hand up gently against the other man’s lips. “I don’t think anyone’s here who cares.” He said. That potential fact sending little thoughts through his mind. “So maybe we just get comfy ourselves. I wanna discuss what comes next somewhere less open.” He suggested.

What did he mean exactly by ‘what comes next”? Well he was still trying to figure that out, but he had ideas. What mattered now was that there were too many eyes and he couldn’t tell which would willingly give up their position if a certain someone came looking.

Honey
Bony fingers flexed in Lokeah’s grip, and Honey turned in toward the god’s voice automatically. The fingers against his lips seemed to forestall verbal reply, so Honey simply nodded at the other man’s assessment and suggestion.

He cast another glance over the entranceway to the inn again, gaze flitting down to rest on a book, opened to a half-full page with names and what looked like room numbers beside them. He hadn’t been before, but he was struck with the same incredulous sense Lokeah had at the sight. How easy it would be for St. Vier to gather prey here. The fact that he hadn’t said…something. The food must be very good; or, there was some other gambit at play that Honey himself was not privy to. He wondered how many of the inn’s customers “happened to” find themselves at Haven after they’d checked out.

He didn’t know anything to suggest that it was more than the coincidental number, but it just seemed impossible that this place could possibly exist without some more insidious backing to that effect.

The natural thought was that surely this place itself was the trick, but--it just didn’t feel like it. That wasn’t necessarily a mark in its favor. Haven, on the outside, didn’t feel like a slaver either (that would have been counterproductive). But Honey knew this couldn’t be a rival slaver, couldn’t be any number of other kinds of businesses, or St. VIer never would have lent it his support…

It was--weird. Still, he liked the idea of talking about ‘what comes next’ with Lokeah, and with a glance around tugged on the man’s arm, leading him into what he knew would be the “tavern.”

Such an idyllic tavern! It had none of the rust, the bulletholes and seediness that Honey expected from even the best established businesses in Ozymandias. Even Guilty Pleasures (a place he was invested in only because St. Vier occassionally had him check in on it) had a dangerous undercurrent that this place--lacked entirely.

Maybe, though, that was because this tavern was entirely deserted. There were no customers, but there was also no bartender or kitchen staff that he could see.

That was fine by him, though it made him uneasy.

”Perhaps in here” he suggested.

There was a heavy sense of unease in Lokeah that he still hadn’t been able to shake since leaving Haven. It was a feeling he wasn’t used to and he found himself reflecting on that fact. Up until the moments where he met that man he’d been so careless, figuring that he could leap out of a threats grasp with ease. It usually worked… but that was with petty hunters, not a well prepared master. If anything this put the god on edge in this seemingly safe place and he found himself looking over his shoulder as he followed along to the other room.

Lokeah shook his arm from the other man’s grasp and plopped himself down on one of the barstools of the empty space and grinned at Honey. He found comfort in this lack of people, so long as they were close enough to perhaps stop any malicious business if this place was truly “safe”. However he had enough reason to place a light form of trust in the other now.

“Mhmm this is perfect~” He said. His eye’s wandered across the nearly flawless state of the tavern, across the line of partially filled bottles, and then back to his companion. How is it that it kept up such an appearance in such a dangerous world? Interesting.

The thoughts that had crossed him mind in the lobby area continued to cycle and strengthen now and he leaned closer to Honey. There was a look in his eye that resembled something of perhaps mischief. That was fitting for a trickster, right?

Lokeah’s voice hushed as he did this and he asked, “Ey Honey, what do you think the likelihood of the owners of this place coming back anytime soon?” He paused, allowing him to answer if he desired. “I can’t tell if this place is particularly safe, but I like it. I want it.”

It was a bold statement that he would leave vague, assuming the other male would at least have a decent idea of what he might mean. There was no problem in explaining further, but he needed a reaction first.

Honey
Honey frowned as his touch was shrugged off, arm remaining stretched out until he had joined Lokeah at the bar, successfully tucking his feet under the well-wrought stools. Again, the impossibility of the location threatened to break his sense of reality. Such a calm, quiet bar. Such nice stools, such (what looked like) varied bottles of liquor.

He had tasted anything alcoholic but once in his life: it had been red wine. St. Vier had poured it down his throat until he was gasping and begging, drunkenly, for the man to stop. Not a pleasant encounter.

He frowned at the bottles of liquor, and abruptly stood from his stool, moving behind the counter to reach, randomly, for a bottle of some amber-colored something.

It didn’t look delicious in any way, but, well--Honey was used to imbibing disgusting substances, as needed. His shoulders hunched somewhat, in--stubbornness? He took two glasses, and spilled the liquid into both, filling them to the brim.

He presented Lokeah with one, listening to the man talk as he did.

‘I want it.’

That sounded like his master, and he responded to it immediately. This place was idyllic, weak. He and a single Kir could take it. His assent was on his lips before he remembered that he could never rely on a Kir to do the gritty work of conquering…ever again.

He bent his head to the overfull glass, forcing himself to sip a large mouthful of--what turned out to be a legitimately foul-tasting liquid.

He could not be a Kir. He wasn’t strong enough. But this whole place was weak. However it had existed, it was weak, easily plundered. Even for someone like Honey.

”Okay” he agreed.

”We’ll have to go to each room. It will be easy, I think.” Despite his servile tone, his toothy grin was predatory.

                                                              --:::------::---------------------------------------::------:::---

It had been an odd while at the inn. Ayluin couldn't rightly tell how long had passed. Just that he somehow ended up alone in the inn. The people that had been there earlier were gone. The owner and his boyfriend were gone as well. It was strange and left the elf wondering. It wasn't like elves hibernated or anything, so how did he miss everything that had gone on to leave the place abandoned? Not that it mattered much. The young man had stayed behind where the supplies were. Here he had food and drinks and a soft, warm bed. He would be stupid to leave it behind and he was used to solitude.

With the people gone and not returning he had even turned his original room around and had taken to gathering iron and steel from the outside and to keep working on his engineering and gemcutting when he found gems. It wouldn't do to let his skill waver after all. And he sometimes sold what he made to have some money to barter with one of the run down merchants down further in the city. It wasn't a luxury life, next to the endless flow of water that had remained even when the owners left, but it was very doable. Imagine his surprise when he suddenly heard sounds from the entrance hall and voices. Unknown voices at that, so it wasn't the owner returning. Ayluin didn't trust it and he decided to go see who was there, carefully.

He had been in this world long enough now to know that caution was a virtue in this life and could well mean the difference between life and death. As such he stood ready to conjure his surrounding shield at a moment's notice in case what he was about to encounter was violent and out for blood. The elf walked to the main hall, his steps careful and as silent as his light-footed race could be. When he got to the corner he peeked around it at first and gasped a bit when he saw the male behind the bar. They looked rather...odd. Yet Ayluin would not judge another by how they looked.

He scraped his throat softly and walked further in, still ready to react. "Hello, are you here to find shelter or a place to stay?" he asked. The elf had kept the place clean as a building to live in and he would still be courteous to others. If the owner would ever return, at least he would find his inn meticulously clean and as welcoming as the male could keep it.

Lokeah had been looking over the various alcoholic substances with curiosity since they arrived in this room, but he had no particular feelings to them. However, Honey seemed to take interest. His quick movement startled Lokeah causing his body to jolt a little in place. Though when that movement didn’t directly involve him, and caused the other male to look over the selection, he realized it was safe.

A glass was placed before him and an unknown liquid was poured into it and a sense of unpleasant familiarity came over him. His hand reached out but suddenly hesitated with the memory of being drugged by the master that once held him captive. Neither he nor Honey could possibly know if anything like that, or worse, was in that bottle. What if the reason why this place was so uncomfortably safe was because those within it were just waiting for someone like him to slip and become vulnerable?

Even if the other male was willing to trust it he didn’t want to risk it and simply toyed with the glass, spinning it on the counter and making a light scratching noise.

His attention was drawn from the drink by quite the quick response to his sudden statement. First he gained acceptance to it, and then what seemed to be and an analyzation that came from experience. Had he overtaken a place like this before? Maybe that was something to raise concern with that kind of tone, but to Lokeah this was impressive and delightful if it meant feeding his current desires.

“Perfect~. Perhaps you should take the lead on this then? I’ll be your support.” He said, head tilting as his grin widened.

But it fell quickly when he heard an unfamiliar voice. An enemy?... Perhaps not. His eye’s flickered to the young being, a male elven type perhaps? That didn’t matter. If anything their presence seemed frail and weak by appearance and he was certain the he and Honey could take care of them quickly if need be. However, he was never quick to act violently.

Lokeah’s hand shifted, reaching to touch Honey’s as if to tell him to wait if he were planning to react on their previous discussion. What if this creature was also useful?

“That would depend. Who might you be?” Lokeah asked.

Honey
Take the lead? The idea jolted him out of the easy state of mind he’d fallen into, placing Lokeah as his stand-in for St. Vier. It was easy to think of something like conquering a location as a series of steps; Honey was good at determining and following steps. And the steps to conquer a self-contained location like this, if it was in fact as safe as it felt, were straightforward enough: they’d cordon off each section of the inn so there was no easy escape, forming barricades with furniture or whatever else was on hand. It was okay if it wouldn’t entirely barricade, it only had to serve to slow down anyone who might try to flee. Then they could go room by room, one of them kicking open the door and the other waiting just outside to capture and take down anything or anyone savvy enough to be waiting to burst out. Take down, incapacitate; repeat.

His mind skipped over what to actually do with any caught people, and snagged on the idea. He lowered his face to the overfull glass in front of him and was taking a sip off of the rim, one hand holding his hair back to keep it from falling in to the horrible liquid--when he heard the voice.

His head shot up, and one antler accidentally caught a bottle, throwing it to smash on the floor. It was all well and good to theoretically contemplate what it would take to conquer a place. Quite another to, well--to be confronted with a stranger when he wasn’t expecting one.

Far from intending to attack the new presence, Honey jumped at the touch of Lokeah’s hand on his. It barely kept him from retreating. A quick glance from the new figure’s head to feet and up again and he relaxed marginally, if only because he didn’t see any obvious malicious intent.

He stayed silent, letting Lokeah speak for both of them, at least for now.

                                                              --:::------::---------------------------------------::------:::---

Ayluin carefully kept an eye on their movements as he stood on a safe distance for now. Not known much with the people that roamed these lands and relying solely on what he had learned during his time in the inn hardly qualified for enough time to know people's minds. The elf wandered his gaze about the other two wearily. If anything they had him outnumbered and he already wasn't a big fighter to begin with. Thankfully though it would seem, though they both startled from his sudden appearance, they weren't the type to resort to violence immediately. Noticing this, Ayluin lowered his guard a bit, though he never forgot he might well have need for his shield at a moment's notice. Still approaching everyone as if they would rip your throat out would only cause the wrong vibe anyway.

When the whitehaired male spoke, Ayluin focused on them rather than the weird creature that was with him. "My name is Ayluin and I have taken care of this inn for a while, though the owner seems to have disappeared." he explained with a voice much calmer than he himself felt. "If you need a place to stay, you can here." Ayluin carefully walked a bit closer though he made certain his presence wouldn't be seen as intimidating. That said that didn't need much work because as he was now he had no power to speak off but defense and survival. Ayluin was nervous to be walking passed Honey however, so he didn't step behind the counter as had been his task here. "But, who are you?" he countered the question to them both.

Though his curiosity wasn't feigned. Who the others were, what they were doing here and if they would be ally or foe were kind of good questions to know the answer too. Especially while he was on his own. The young man tried to hide his uncertainty but he wasn't really good at acting. Besides he had yet to stop them from taking all the wine, not that he dared to really.
