Wilhelm felt her clasp him around the neck, squeezing hard. Good, the girl was going for the blood choke. That would make this quick. He threw a couple of elbows, then forced himself to his feet. His eyes were starting to glass over, his peripherals fading into black. With a mighty effort, he stood erect and prepared to launch himself onto his back, which would effectively pin his body weight on top of Sevira's. The impact would have potentially broken the hold, but at the moment he tried...his knees gave out. He dropped to the ground, letting the darkness take him.

Sevira was more than thankful the fight was over, her body ached and she had won, even if Wilhelm had thrown the fight. She was safe from harm and they could continue the journey. She made sure that Wilhelm was still breathing and sat him up against a tree so he would come back to shortly. She then turned her attention to Alieth and Veronica. "I won't be staying here in Maeven for much longer. I've been tasked with getting rid of the most evil there is in Istrea. If you wish to join us, we would appreciate the arms. If he comes to, I've gone to my apartment. I would rather not have company..." she began with a sigh. That explanation as to why was a long story. "I've booked a room for you both in this tavern for tonight. Be sure to make use of them," she said and walked off with her armor in her arms.

She made her way to the outskirts of the city, patting her steed as she walked up the creeking stairs. The only other tennants in this complex she lived in were the deaf mages who rarely found work and lived in ruins. Her apartment was the nicest, but it was because she was a foreigner and not trusted by the higher-ups she was not allowed in the soldiers barracks, even with her own rank. She put her armor away and laid on her bed, looking at the ceiling. The journey would begin tomorrow. Jaelle would surely lead them all to wherever the tarot deck told her to go.

тιмє ѕкιρ
Even though bruised from the trial by combat, Sevira donned her Royal Guard armor and packed anything else she would need into a bag to sit on Olrun's back. The only other things she brought with her other than her trusty sword was her full armor as a Fashrade soldier. That was for proper battles only, and could be left in the bag. The more fresh air she could get to cool down the better. With everything ready, she walked out and shut the door to her apartment. She had a feeling, for a moment before her fingers left the doorknob, she might not be back. She shook the feeling off and reassured herself she'd be a Kingsguard upon her return.

Sitting on Olrun's back, she travelled quickly to the Boar's Tusk where everyone was meant to be meeting that morning. She had to get the location from Jaelle and see if the other two, Alieth and Veronica, would join them after all. There was only one way to find out.

aleith x elemaris

THE WARRIOR OF RED AND BLACK

___To sum it all up in a quick and timely manner, the whole fight was nothing but a bore to the halfblood. Although she had not expected the outcome, it was pathetic to see them fumble about while people watched with eager faces until Wilhelm flopped to the ground like a drunken sailor who picked the wrong fight. Pathetic. The crowd didn't think so, however, and still erupted in shock and surprise. They all clapped at Sevira's victory before beginning to disperse to continue their lives.
___Sevira had approached Aleith and Veronica both afterwards, briefly explaining that she was tasked with something that had indeed peaked both of their interests... "To 'rid of the most evil is Istrea', hmm?" she wondered, watching the woman walk away with haste and disappearing into the crowded streets. Aleith wasn't much to pry into people's lives, but she was in fact curious about this one... She had a very friendly disposition, but there was something more behind the mask she wore in front of people. Something more to this dame of Fashrade...
___There was even more in the quest she was being sent on as well, that she wasn't telling them outright. It was something to bring up if they decided to accompany them. She would have to discuss it all with Veronica later, despite how much she loathed the idea of accompanying that strange band of travelers at that very moment. Aleith and Veronica both attracted enough attention by themselves as it was...
___Aleith didn't wait to see if Wilhelm would awaken or not. She did what she said she would to Veronica, and finally retired to the inn. It was a relief to know Sevira had gotten them both a room and Aleith would surely have to thank her the next day.
___It was sometime later in the night, when things had quieted down outside, that the unlikely duo would finally discuss the events that day. Aleith had been meditating when Veronica knocked on her door. She could feel that the girl's emotions were still all over the place, but the anger within her eyes remained. She made it clear when she sat before Aleith to explain that her next challenge with Wilhelm would be different. And it was a different Aleith liked to hear; a true battle to the death. She could only agree with her apprentice that when the time came, she would be the one to end that foolish man.
___"I know we have only been travelling together for a short time," she told her, her voice calm and low. "But you are growing stronger everyday. And growing quick. I won't be surprised if it only takes you but one moon of training to wipe that smug smile off his face." Aleith grinned at Veronica, her eyes glowing in the soft candle lit room. An almost playful but morbid smirk. "It'll take you much longer to defeat me, though... Perhaps whatever Sevira was mentioning earlier will provide as good training for you when it comes to fighting Wilhelm... And me..."
___She only meant to ruffle the girl's feathers so she would be ready for the tough days to come. The teasing was all in fun and games, and they both knew that. But it turned out to be a wonderful way of encouraging someone to bust their a** while kicking a**.
___They agreed they would accompany the group in the morning, at least for now. If plans were to change, they could always split up when they wished. The opportunity for training and battle was too sweet to give up, especially with such a vague idea of what to expect. It was exciting, at least compared to the usual days of traveling to place to place.

___Aleith was up early, awaiting Veronica to join her in the hall before the two left the Ale of Kings and headed back towards the Boar's Tusk to meet with the ones they would be heading out with. She didn't bother hiding her horns or who she was, knowing she'd be travelling with knights and have a safe passage. And although she didn't say a word to Veronica that morning, it was pleasant to have her company and Aleith stuck close to her side.
___Sevira was approaching the tavern from the other direction, in full armor and on horseback. Aleith nodded to her, approaching the horse's side. "You have intrigued us, Dame Sevira." she admitted, referring to their presence that morning to join them. "I would like to know the details of this task you were given, perhaps later, but I am still confident in our abilities to defeat this evil you spoke of." She was more so referring to just Veronica and her and not really their whole party, but decided it best to treat this whole thing as if they truly were a team to not cause any outbursts or hurt feelings...
___Aleith straightened her back, placing a hand on the hilt of her sword. "We are ready when you are to depart." she said, her voice turning serious and alert. She was more than ready for a little more excitement in her journeys.

Sevira nodded to them and remained on her horse for a moment before flagging down a passing squire. She said something to him and gave him a few coins before he ran off in a hurry. Minutes later, he returned with horses ready for travel, saddles and all. There were two black and unruly horses for Veronica and Alieth, even though she knew Wilhelm would have a field day knowing they'd be along for the ride. Still, her orders were from the King and she chose who came and went on her journey. She was in charge this time, not he. It was her word that was rule now. She wondered how he'd feel about that once the journey had in fact begun.

"If you two would wait here for a few moments, I will gather the others and discuss with you where the first marker on our journey to defeat the great evil will be," she said as she leapt from Olrun and walked to the Boar's Tusk doors.

She walked into the tavern and looked around for where the group might be. They were all at a table eating a quick bite of breakfast before departing. Jaelle saw her and walked over to her, handing her a piece of paper. A map, which she had drawn on in feather quill and indigo ink.

Sevira looked at it before smiling, "so, the tarot said to look for more detailed answers in the Temple of Prophecy. So it's off towards Erelandra we go. A long path ahead, but I'm certain we can be there in less than a few weeks time if we move fast," she reasoned out loud, yet quiet enough so few others than Jaelle heard her.

She looked at the group and then to the door where she knew the other two ladies were waiting for her. "Be quick and prepare to depart. We leave shortly, so gather outside by the waiting horses. We leave the city once Wilhelm shows. If he doesn't within the hour, we leave without him," she stated firmly, but kindly at the same time.

A few encouraging yet kind words from her master and a good nights rest brought Veronica back into more jovial spirits. She wasn't happy and didn't really want to travel with the group, but knew her master did, and was at least interested in what Sevira was speaking of yesterday, so she went along with it. Besides, it would allow her to see her master in combat again, something Veronica always enjoyed.

When they saw Sevira once more in the morning, she was reminded of her and Wilhelm's fight yesterday. Wholly uninteresting, though she had to admit they were both fighting only for the sake of determining a stupid punishment. A shame, really. That Wilhelm man would have made for a good teacher were he not so stupid and hung up on his own fame and standing.

When Sevira spoke of "being quick and ready to depart", Veronica couldn't help but roll her eyes. Her and Aleith had been ready since they got here. Why did they have to wait?

Maliarc had ignored the lass' question with silence, finished his food, and retired for the night. It appeared he would not be allowed to speak with Sevira before the night was through and decided then that the best course of action otherwise was to sleep.

Upon awakening the next day, it seemed everyone else was already awake and ready. Maliarc hurriedly joined the small group, offering only a small apology. "Ah, my old bones didn't want to wake this morning it seems."

Instead of awaiting inside the tavern, he exited into the early morning sunlight and basked in it before nodding to the two newcomers who had indeed decided to join their journey. He smiled at them before speaking more to himself than anyway.

"It seems this journey is going to be far more interesting than I originally thought."
----------------------------------------------------------------------

OOC: I was gonna put them both in one post, but I honestly don't have the time/effort to try and make it look good. Sorry guys.

Alfen watched Maliarc walk outside quickly and finished eating the apple he was holding to follow. As a mage, he could spell any possession of his into a charm to place on his Traveller's Bracelet, which many -- including Elesmira -- carried on them. He grabbed his staff and slid it into the holder across his back and quickly got on one of the horses. He looked to see if Maliarc needed a hand, but he seemed to already be on his stallion. "Morning," he said in an attempt to be kind to the other two. He didn't know them well but if they were travelling together, best be kind.

Jaelle walked after Sevira once she had let the older knight know what the Tarot had revealed. Once she got outside she saw the two women from before, her eyes resting on the one who challenged General Wilhelm to a fight. She was new to that whole encounter so she didn't necessarily have any feelings towards the man. She was only going along to help and then return to her people. Being away from them was painful for her. She quickly got onto one of the white and chestnut spotted horses and slid her fingers through it's mane to form a bond with the creature.

Eli followed after the others and made sure he had his few possessions with him. Satisfied he had everything, he was a little hesitant to get on a horse but nevertheless did. As a faun, he could surely keep up with the speed of the horses, but if he was going to hide his race from those out to get him, best act human. He carefully got onto the horse and seemed to have a conversation with the creature.

With everyone outside waiting, Sevira looked to see if Wilhelm was in fact coming or not. It was his decision to or not in the end, so she sighed and clicked her tongue to get Olrun to start moving. "We leave now. We make for the Temple of Prophecy and hope we get there fast. If there are no further questions, let's move out!" she ordered and kicked her heels into Olrun's hide to get him to run down the cobblestone path. She knew the others were following closely behind by the noise of the thunderous hooves.

If we move at a slower pace now, Wilhelm might be able to catch up..., she thought to herself and made sure to keep a slower pace than one normally might, but still fast enough to warrant a horse to run. She was trying to give Wilhelm the time he needed to meet up with the others, even though she had a gut feeling Veronica and Alieth wouldn't mind if the "brutish man" was absent.

Elesmira was happy to be out of the tavern and on the road, one step closer to getting back to her homeland and family. She kept pace with Sevira and looked at her new companions. Two mages, two knights - that is if one would include Wilhelm, who was absent now but said he would help the day before - a half demon warrior, a human warrior and apprentice of Alieth, a faun priest, and a gypsy girl. A wide array of people from across the lands. With the amount of magic they had together, they'd surely best any who came upon them on the open field of battle.

She tried to keep her attention towards the mission, but something seemed amiss in her gut. There was something...off...about how well this was going. Surely, if the King of Fashrade had given the task of keeping the host at bay than other nations knew of the prophecy coming true. Many dark races would likely aid with Kamawanaiyo and band together to stop them. They had to act quickly and find the host before anyone else did.

Teivel Nazar walked along the shadows of the trees, whistling a dark tune as he went by. In the distance, he heard hooves pounding and peered out from the trees. A group of people were riding away from Maeven, which was nothing surprising to someone who didn't know any better. For a demon, and more particularly a Parasite Demon, he could sense the powerful auras and smiled. Worthy opponents to beat in battle! Two of the auras were intense and strong, almost pulsating across the field.

"This should be a nice little detour before finding that host of the great witch Kamawanaiyo and freeing her from her imprisonment," he muttered to himself and let a sickening smile settle on his face.

He kept watching them as he walked in the same direction now, remembering the look, feel, and even the scent of their auras. Even if he lost track of them visually, he would no doubt find them again one way or another. His determination in hunting down prey was unlike that of a dragon protecting it's horde. Nothing would stand in his way and he would reduce those who did to ash. That was a promise, not a threat.

aleith x elemaris

THE WARRIOR OF RED AND BLACK

___Aleith waited patiently until Sevira returned with the four others that were at the training grounds the other evening, and now a faun. An interesting creature to see with such a large group. She nodded to them all regardless as a silent and distant 'Hello'. She wasn't trying to make friends on this mission. But she didn't want to make enemies either.
___Aleith could feel Veronica's vexation and kind of muddled in it with her. There was something about this whole mission that felt all over the place or even rushed. It was not nearly as professional as Aleith had thought, though she didn't care.
___Without letting anyone answer, and with Wilhelm nowhere in sight, Sevira announced that they'd be leaving to the Temple of Prophecy before racing down the market street towards the city gates.
___The Temple of Prophecy? There was a sudden deep pit in Aleith's chest as she mounted a horse, choosing the black mare in the group and took off. Erelandra was the land her mother was from, and knowing they would be going there was exciting. But nothing good can come from those temples. And if they were heading there, it was a lot more serious that Aleith had initially thought. Usually she'd be against taking horses for travel, especially for something so serious, but guessed whoever had sent Sevira on this mission to begin with cared about their speed in finishing it rather than them taking caution.
___Aleith caught up to Sevira easily, with Veronica close behind. People moved out of their way as they rode past, leaving the city and breaking into the forest. The pit in the half-blood's chest was still there, even when they were outside of the kingdom walls. There would have to be a conversation had with Sevira later today if they intended for Aleith and Veronica to continue with them on this journey. Aleith wasn't planning on travelling with those who were careless; she wasn't about to be put in a situation that would waste her time.
___She decided to stay silent for now, focusing more on the energies around them and their surroundings. With their group size and the amount of sound they were making someone was bound to see or hear them. And she wasn't about to let them get the upper hand.

Location: Leaving Fashrade, headed to Erelandra.
Company: Veronica, Sevira, Maliarc, Elesmira, Alfen, Jaelle, Eli.
Mood: Extremely weary, uneasy.

To your left!

Sevira pulled the reigns sharply, causing Olrun to frantically rush to the side. She drew her sword and leapt from her steed, looking to see where she one was riding was only a charred hole. Someone had intended to attack. But, she was unsure if it was a random attack, since it seemed very methodical. "Everyone be on guard. We have unwanted company, it seems," she growled under her breath as she looked to the forest to see a single figure walking out.

"Who the hell?" Sevira asked, but he was too far to see. "Alieth, can you see that person more clearly than I can? I don't have any good feelings about them, but if you can see any markings, we might have an upper hand here," she asked once the others had stopped nearby.

Of all the times when I need Wilhelm the most and he decides now to be late! He better make a grand entrance, otherwise I'm going to kill him when I get back she thought to herself as she moved herself into a fighting stance, sword at the ready.

Amira was taken completely out of her element when a sudden blasts of energy nearly struck the group. Even the silphs would have warned her of something, unless it was from some kind of demon. Only demon magic was quicker than the word of the silphs to the ears of Elves. "A demon, most likely out to kill us for selfish reasons," she said, but felt bad knowing Alieth heard it. "At least I think so. I meant no disrespect to you, miss," she tried to apologize.

She certainly didn't want to upset Alieth, since she was a formidable opponent and yet a strong ally to have nearby. If the group was too big to travel without suspicion in their numbers, surely splitting up would help. But who would go where? Sevira and Wilhelm had said they'd protect her, but she was worried about the others around her age, mostly Jaelle, around the two warrior women. Sure, Maliarc and Alfen could handle themselves, but Jaelle was not an experienced fighter, just as Amira herself was.

"What do we do?" she asked.

Teivel strode out from the trees, a slow stride towards the group. He was, frankly, surprised that one of them had managed to dodge one of his attacks, but he paid no mind to it. It was bound to happen from time to time. Not everyone was as stupid as cattle, even if it was a human knight. As he walked towards them, he studied them from a distance. A half-demon caught his eye and he grinned from ear to ear. The blue glow from the black, demonic parts of his body, most notably his left eye and left arm along with a portion of his left chest, grew brighter in anticipation for a fight.

"Let's see if this lot is any better than the last I faced," he snickered to himself.

As he walked, he summoned his weapon. It was a spear that was specially used by members of the Assassins Guild of Noeven. A clear sign he was one, or at least in the past. Few knew about it, but he'd essentially wiped them all out by himself before defecting. He wanted a challenge, and he was sure to get one.

It took seconds for all hell to break loose on the group and chaos to unfold. Someone had conjured an energy blast and intended to hit the group, but Sevira managed to avoid it and her sword was out and she was on her feet. He leapt from his horse and clutched his staff in his hands. Maliarc hobbled up beside him, still on his steed. "A little on the job training?" he teased.

"Just don't die," Maliarch teased back. Alfen couldn't help but chuckle, but deep down he was terrified with what was about to happen. This person did not seem at all like a lightweight since Sevira was ready to fight so easily. He was still a novice with his magic, but it was now or never to prove his worth.

Jaelle stopped her horse and stayed beside Elesmira, unsure of whether to aid them or not. She wasn't a fighter and had little skill in offensive nature, but she had defensive spells at her disposal. She inhaled and snapped her fingers, sparks of gold shooting from her fingers and swirling around her companions. "It's a little good luck spell. It should give you some kind of help in this fight," she softly said. She had the gut-feeling of staying beside Elesmira and keeping her safe.

aleith x elemaris

THE WARRIOR OF RED AND BLACK

___The attack was no surprise to the half-blood. It had only confirmed her concerns when it came to travelling with such a large and loud group. Aleith pulled back on the reigns of her horse as soon as she saw Sevira doing the same. It was at the very last second that she was able to catch the blast of energy impact the earth in front of them. Her horse whinnied, in fear as rock and dust erupted from the blast zone and clouded the area around them.
___The group was halted at that moment, Sevira already off her horse with sword drawn. Aleith's amber eyes snapped to the forest, following Sevira's eyes to finally set her sights on the one that attempted in attacking them. A figure among the trees, growing ever closer. The black horse Aleith rode circled around in place, nervously, but her eyes never left the figure. She could hear the little green elf that had accompanied them, insisting that the attacker was probabaly a demon before apologizing. Aleith didn't react to it, didn't even look at her. The others got ready in their own way, the young woman even granting a luck spell on them. It would definitely be needed.
___"A demon. Looks more human than anything though." she growled under her breath, finally answering Sevira's question. The individual's strong and invading energy was to evident to be mistaken as anything else. "They aren't friendly either." Aleith dismounted and slapped the hind of the black mare, sending it into the forest behind them a little ways to get it out of the way. She reached behind her and unsheathed her mighty two handed great sword, it gleaming in what sunlight peeked through the branches of the trees. "No use in trying to talk, he's already got his weapon ready. So, be on your toes everyone." she commanded, her voice serious and deep. "Veronica," she snapped, her eyes locking on her apprentice. She stared at her for a just a second, a silent moment of understanding between the two warriors before another battle. "Take a stance. And stay alert." She would be fighting a great opponent here, today. It would be good training, but would be very dangerous.
___Aleith's attention returned to the demon instantly, taking a step forward and extending her hand. Her body tensed, muscles rippling as she slowly clenched her hand into a fist. With just a second on concentration, she could feel her core become scorching hot, burning her soul and insides. Her arm explodes in red flames, licking and biting at the air fiercely from her armored arm. She waved her hand in the sky for a moment before running her hand up the side of her blade, causing it to catch fire as she ran her fingertips across the dark steel. Her arm extinguished as it fell, wielding the sword in both hands once more, it now growing red hot form the heat of the flame that now swallowed the entire blade.
___"Hurry the ******** up, kid. You want a fight then come get one." she roared to him, raising her chin to size him up from afar.

Teivel approached slowly, sensing the auras of those around him. He was most interested in the hald-breed, a very unusual sight in Istrea. The strength that the female knight had was also rather astonishing, given most humans do not even have an aura worth noting. This entire group seemed rather perplexing, which was why he was wanting a fight so badly. He was itching for action since laying waste to a town to the East along Fashrade's border with Goleta. He got as close as he felt was appropriate, and within earshot, and stopped, twirling his spear.

"Do you really want to die that quickly, tapozuhr" Tievel called out with a scoff. He used the Noeven term for 'half-breed', a word used as an insult and a degrading remark, to try and put Alieth down. It was more to see if she was likely to lash out on emotion. People like that were easy to beat.

All the while he was talking he was scanning his surroundings to see what he needed to be careful for. The forest behind him and behind his opponents wasn't as much of a threat as one would imagine, being a demon he could take a beating and not feel much pain. He began to piece together a strategy in his head. He would either attack Alieth, the half-breed, or Sevira, the knight, since they seemed strongest. Take down the brunt of the group and the rest scatter and become easy prey. A tactic he was used to and knew worked well.

Sevira did not like him advancing so close and stopping at a distance where all attacks would be seen. Unless they used elemental or other magic, his distance but sword fighters like her at a disadvantage. Likely a tactic used to make others attack and enter a weak spot for themselves and allow him an advantage. She saw his eyes wander about and knew he was looking at the surroundings. What did she see that might help? The forests might not offer much protection, but the river was another story. She trained in this area many times over the years with Wilhelm and other officers beside her. She had gone through the streams endless times on her own and knew its depths and its current. If she led him to an area that was deeper and waded through a shallower part, he would drift downstream and they could get away. That was if he didn't attack first.

"Alieth, I have an idea, but I need your opinion on it first," she whispered. She gripped her sword in her hands and looked back to see the others hiding near the trees on their horses. She gulped and turned back to Alieth and Veronica beside her. "I was thinking of luring him to the river. Get him to unknowingly wade into the depths while we go across the shallow. I know the river well and it's our only chance. We don't know how good he is and we don't have time to find out. I need you to lure him there. It has to be you, because you may be the only one with the magic and strength to do it. If you're willing, I'll get the others to safety," she said.

Elesmira, Jaelle, and Eli had hidden themselves near the trees to stay out of the firing line, since they were not experienced fighters. Maliarc and Alfen stayed nearby to shield them and offer any magical support that Sevira, Alieth, and Veronica needed. It was not something that Amira was expecting and she was caught off guard. As a novice in swordsmanship, she was no help in the fight. She was a healer and a damn good one at that. But her skills were for the sideline, not the frontline. Still, she knew to put her faith in Sevira to get them through this mess and away from the battle.

"What do we do if he attacks?" she heard Jaelle ask beside her. She watched Sevira and Alieth formulating a plan and held her breath. "We offer what little help we can from here. We can't just stand idly by and do nothing," she admitted. Even though her voice held bravery in it, the tones of panic and anxiety behind it were clear to those with good ears. But she had to be strong, less it be the death of her.

Mood: Frustrated
Present Company: Himself and his charger.
Current Location: King's Road, outside Maeven

Wilhelm had a rough morning, to say the least. He had received a tongue lashing from the other generals to losing to his Lieutenant, but he reminded them who was in charge. Best of all, they hadn't caught the ruse for what it was. Apparently they didn't pay much mind to his fighting style, he didn't use nearly any of his usual battle repertoire. In a clean fight, he's pretty easily bested...but in a fight for one's life, there were no rules.

He mounted his charger, a black and white pinto Destrier, trotted carefully out of the main gates. Wilhelm reached down and picked up his warhorn, blowing into it and creating a deep rumbling call. That was his signal that the other generals were now in charge, and that he'd return when he could. Grabbing the reins of the massive warhorse, he spurred her into motion with a gentle prod. Warm-up trot, quarter gallop, half, full. He had a lot of ground to make up to catch up to Sevira and the others.
