Marcus sat on a bench legs up and arms around them. He hadn’t seen Elijah or Ray since the argument with Harvey ( well, Ray wasn’t really talking to him anymore so there was that) and he wasn’t sure that he wanted to.
He was still hurt from what Harvey had said, about him and his parents. He had come to the academy to get to know his brother and that same brother seemed to think him nothing more than a pest.
It..hurt. He was taken aback by just how much. Every time he remembered Harvey’s words he got a knot on his throat and they’d been replaying in his head more and more.
He didn’t understand why Harvey didn’t like his parents, and even less why Harvey didn’t like him. He had just met him, Marcus couldn’t remember a day in his life when Harvey had been around him before this year. How could he have pissed him off already.
But every thing Harvey had said and done pointed to just that. He looked at him like he couldn’t stand to have him around, and every time Marcus tried to initiate conversation, he had shut him down.
And then there was that last time, I don’t have time for you. I can’t be takin care of you.
“That wasn’t even what I was askin for” he muttered “can take care of myself just fine. I just wanted..”
He trailed off…..what had he wanted? What did he want?
Dad sent me here and told me he wouldn’t mind lookin out for me, he thought wishing Valiant was still a slakoth so he could run his hands through his fur. As it was the vigoroth was often restless and hard to handle.
“Why did he say he was okay with me coming here...if he was gonna hate me”
No one answered but then Marcus wasn’t expecting an answer.
